    Wow! If I could just have that amount of algae then I'd be extremely happy 😂 I can't get the algae in my one tank under control and Rachel has loads of tanks all looking amazing, well done Rachel, think I'll just have to start again and hope for the best.

      Or let it burn out. introduce floaters they will take out nutrients and filter light. a killer way of reducing algae, reduce lighting fertilize the soil not the water and have patience

    • @shrimperlincs3395
      @shrimperlincs3395 2 роки тому

      I've tried all of these and more. Cutting the blue spectrum from the light (if LED RBG). Reducing light intensity. Less natural light. More frequent water changes. Adding UV sterilisation. More CO2. Chihiros Steriliser. More Ferts. Less Ferts.
      What did I miss?

    I love it. The low tech tanks are my favorite too. All my tanks are low tech, but the java fern growth is immense on the tank with CO2, I'm jealous. I have to agree with George, in my experience, java ferns do not grow dense and lush in low tech. Anubias grows best for me in blackwater or heavily shaded tanks, but only become algae farms in regular tanks with normal lighting. You just have to enjoy the algae sometimes lol. I appreciate all these wonderful tours, George. I can't wait to see your mbuna tank. Take care.

      Deffo agree with anubias and algea issues under high lighting, at least in my experience, it's always a bit of a challange in my tank getting the light at the right intensity for the stems but low enough to stop algea appearing on the edges of the anubias!

    Very good, excellent eye for layout demonstrated - soft tap water a big helping hand for plant health and easy maintenance? Though with all that carpet I would be in constant trouble for making a mess. Interesting for me not to see great mounds of aquatic soil, either well hidden or not heavily used? Informative and entertaining as usual George, thanks.

  • @kathyheyne6030

    Thank you for introducing us to fine aquascapers who don’t use CO2. I don’t have anything against CO2, but as someone who works shifts away from home, it’s an impossibility for me in case the gas runs out while I’m away, so high tech aquascapers will never inspire me the way so-called low tech aquascapers can.
