Welcome back my beautiful, INTELLIGENT, resilient gems! This is snippet of a Zoom call recorded where I speak to a few ladies about my touring business. I am giving them information about BRAAFIË Tours and why we started + how they can jumpstart their first visit to the continent.
A little shameless plug for our touring business here in Ghana, West Africa! BRAAFIË (brah-fee-aye) Tours is a travel company launched in March of 2023 by myself and Ghanaian partner, Kwabena Adoko. The name means "come home" in a Ghanaian language called Twi. As an answer to your concerns about visiting, we launched our company to make sure we could provide both affordable and quality tours that not only allowed you to reconnect to the continent but to do so in a meaningful way! We offer an optional service component with students if you choose. We are flexible with one main goal in mind: To get you back HOME!! I visited for the first time in June of 2021 after years of contemplating, researching and simply being bogged down by the planning process. A friend connected me with a Ghanaian tour guide. I was skeptical and on edge because I didn't know if I could trust the guide, but I went anyway - yes, afraid and into a completely new country with a language barrier! Turns out, my guide was incredible! I spent a magical month in Ghana exploring different regions. I left with a greater sense of self, identity and respect for my culture. I get the rollercoaster of emotions and confusion that come with the transatlantic slave trade. I understand the frustration that sweeps over the body when our native born African brothers and sisters ask us which country we are from and we can not tell them. Because of this, I want to ENSURE your voyage home, your birthright is incredible!
