So correct, we’ve made an idol of preaching but a lot of people really aren’t pastoring! We value a person’s ability to preach over how are you doing life together with the people? So true guys!
This generation is extremely transactional. If it's not attached to clicks or views, many of them don't really care . Serving in that kind of capacity is heartache. And that's at the level of the layperson! So I can't imagine in a pastoral role. I'm not talking about grifters... I'm talking about true pastors. People will break your heart intentionally, and step over you on their way to where they're going next. The pain of it will take you out of here if you let it. You learn to fall on God because He's the only one who is able to sustain you. But when you survive it, it's the making of you. You never quite recover from the hurt, but God's strength makes up the difference.
Just a thought on terminology. When I hear fruitfulness, I’m thinking fruit of the Spirit. Is replace your use of the term fruitfulness with “works” or “productivity”. In spiritual terms, I’d consider faithfulness to be a subset of fruitfulness
@@churchdropout I hear you. Yours was the second time this week that I heard the use of that term in that particular context. I was thinking this could cause confusion. I guess I’m behind on the current use of the term
Lol! I actually thought pastoring was the primary qualification of an elder. Closely seconded by wisdom, knowledge through experience woven into life- so more likely but not exclusively older - faithful older saints who care deeply about people and whose lives have become abiding expressions of wisdom through faithful persevering love. Btw this was awesome, it makes me so 😁 to hear this, I feel like this is heading in the right direction!

Thanks bro!
The foreground is not always the place to be. Great insight!!!
Yep, the 5 fold ministry (if you want to call it that) were never titles or positions but functions in the Body!
It’s common for pastors to tell personal stories while preaching to reveal their character.

Good thought! I can't argue with that. To clarify, I was using the term from the modern context of fruitfulness being linked to numbers and size.

@@maestromister3103 No. You are correct. I was using it another way to make the point.

Absolutely.
