Been saying it since it was announced he bought it! There was a really obvious idea to make ROH their version of NXT in a way, to use younger, largely unknown talent on there to build them up, with a sprinkling of better known talent to help build them, and stream it live on UA-cam for 2hrs every week, run small venues, get some buzz and some interest, and after 1-2 years if you book it right and there’s enough interest you might get a small scale TV deal to build upon
But Jericho is champ to elevate

At this point I see TK as the worst thing to happen to wrestling. Every single star that's got over organically he's practically buried. He pushes the wrong guys and jobs out the actual talent.

Tony Khan is the only guy alive who made wrestling worse off than it was during the pandemic. I mean there's literally footage of him online and he's begging people not to leave during a ROH taping.

I remember watching ROH on local channels on Saturday morning. It’s weird it got bought by a billionaire wrestling fan and now it’s impossible to find.
It was once on wnuv channel 54 during late evenings in my state on cable but then tony brought it and bang it’s gone from public tv that’s the tragedy of this whole thing. A guy who’s a spoiled billionaire ends buying up wrestling company and doesn’t know what to do with them!
This channel should have 200k subscribers already ! Wrestling community needs to step it up and support this channel deadass
I think part of their problem is the near constant suspensions from the mail bag. Why stay subbed if you get suspended?

Tony is the worst booker in the history of the business. Vince Russo was an absolute pro wrestling mastermind when compared to Tony who doesn't even seem to understand the most basic things about pro wrestling.

Much as I have to say it, the way Vince bought out WCW and ECW was the template. They were dead brands, the only value they had was the trademarks and tape libraries. Same for ROH, the way Tony bought it up was throwing money away on a property with no value left to it.
He basically paid Boardwalk prices for Baltic Ave with no plans to develop it.
Who else thinks Jericho is feeding Konnan information about Tony and AEW ?

Respectfully, I'm pretty sure it has a lot to do with TK trying to shove AAA (which Konnan books for) in favor of CMLL (that have a contract that prohibits AAA talent from appearing on the same cards as CMLL talent). That, and TK's burial of Santana and Ortiz, Lucha Bros., etc.
I still say the ending to Rhea/Dom/Liv should have been Rhea “breaking” Dom’s forcing him to have to wear a mask.

Tony Khan saved wrestling because WWE was awful when they came to life. But now it’s time for him to exit the business and focus on the NFL because that jaguar team is a complete mess.

Dom is a great character but his work in ring needs sorting out imo, his strikes on war raiders on raw were awful!

I actually enjoy RoH over AEW.
It's great that you were able to appreciate it on a different level. The Ring of Honor is a program dedicated to fostering aspiring elite wrestling talent for All Elite Wrestling. Similar to the relationship between NXT and World Wrestling Entertainment.
@TeddyBearrrs not sure thats how I watch the show. Jericho is the champ hes not aspiring to do much. Athena gas been the champ for a long time, going around the world having matches. I would like for it to have more separation from AEW. Do things with smaller promotions. But this is definitely the wrong community for an optimistic convo lol.

Its like if WWE locked NXT behind a paywall and only way to watch it was to get a subscription. Yet they had 3-4 AEW shows. Why pay for something if u can see all its stars for free.
if you're on ROH you've got heat. Athena having this really long title run means nothing when no one is watching whatever she's doing.
How long has she been out of WWE? 3 years? That's 3 years of your career COMPLETELY wasted.
Some people would rather be booked like a top player in a smaller fed than like a nobody in WWE. Also she's getting paid well and just got to fulfill her dream of wrestling in Japan, something she didn't get to do in wwe.

Here's a few ideas on how to improve ROH. First, start actually promoting the show, tell people where to find it, who's there and why they should watch. Second, air the full shows live on UA-cam. Bring Fénix, Starks, Black, Miro, Wardlow, Kamille and everyone who's just sitting at home doing nothing and put them on the show. Also Tony Kahn should put someone like Jarrett, Don Callis, Jimmy Jacobs...in charge and stay away from the day to day operations, including and especially the booking. Maybe Scott D'Amore could be the man; he rescued TNA with a lot less funds and star power and he could do even more with ROH.
ROH already has like 15,000 subscribers, why would they voluntary give up almost 2 million dollars in annual subscription revenue? Scott D'Amore already has his own promotion in Canada called Maple Leaf Pro.
@duckmercy11 I'm sure they could get more than that in advertising. If 15,000 people at most are watching the show it's the same as nobody. Remember NWA Power in 2019 and early 2020, just before the pandemic? They had almost 1M views globally at one point, which is a lot.
I know about Maple Leaf Wrestling, but Scott D'Amore has been linked with AEW and WWE despite that and he'd be great for ROH. If not him, Callis, Jarrett, Jacobs... any of those guys would do a good job.

Ever since Tony Khan bought out ROH Wrestling from Sinclair Broadcasting, its had little use on Tony's & AEW's network. Goodness gracious me, Ring of Honor could have been a good outlet as a platform for its young talent like NXT, ROH Wrestling was at one time the number 3 wrestling company in North America and the world behind WWE & TNA Wrestling, but right now its mostly just gathering up dust man.
Either use it as that platform to develop younger talent, or start giving it more better proper air time or shut the whole thing down, merge all the ROH Belts into the AEW Belts. Its been a total waste.

AEW is in a massive slump rn no doubt, but man, how much is WWE paying these guys? lmao. I swear I cannot remember the last positive thing I have heard about AEW on this podcast. They put on good matches and have a sick roster. Sure creative sucks and the pushes aren't what they should be, but the company has the ability. Tony Khan is just in his own way.
