    Awesome instructional Video. I didn't realize this was a common fail on the multi switch since mine started doing the same thing...blinding others at night on a right turn. Eventually I just stopped using the right turn signal at night. In any case, got the new part ordered and waiting for it to come in so I can do the install.

    Thanks for the video, very well explained. Ordered new switch installed it today, it was 55 degrees in Baltimore today. It took about a half hour. The biggest issue was getting the boot back on around gear shift. Other then that it went great. Now I won’t blind anyone at night.

    Same problem I’m having now and it’s so freakin frustrating. So I disconnected my high beams to avoid blinding people or to have them thinking Im blinding them on purpose then at night when I use right blinker the regular headlights go out until I turn off blinker..lmao so now I can’t see til my blinkers off.. but I’m just going to fix this crap ASAP. Thanks for vid

    Great content once again! You’re getting a lot of stuff done because of this coronavirus I think we all are in the same 🚣‍♀️ boat. I had to change that switch out once on my 95 f-350 once... it was not to bad almost the same kind of procedure like you did.👍

    I will disconnect the battery. Just in case I might activate the Air Bag.. That would be a disaster of epic proportions!! *BOOM*

    Where does the long wire on the multi-function switch (2017 GMC Yukon Denali) connect? I'm not able to locate where the old one is connected so I can disconnect the old one and connect the new one. HELP!

    Could the multifunction switch be why my low beams aren't working, my high beams and driving lights work fine but both of my low beams aren't coming on, I checked fuses and relays and they all were good.

    • @SevenFortyOne
      @SevenFortyOne  3 роки тому +1

      I can't say for certain but it is a possibility you have a bad switch. You may also have two bad bulbs or some other wiring problem.

  • @EfTheTank

    Could this also be a reason my wiper fluid isn't turning on? Fuse, relay, and pump have all been replaced. I'm gonna give this a shot!

    Did you disconnect the battery to ensure that you would not fire off the airbag by mistake, or does this vehicle not have a steering column mounted airbag?

      I like to live dangerously

    • @1crazynordlander
      @1crazynordlander 4 роки тому +2

      I think that is why GM designed the multi-function modular switch so you could disassemble portions of the steering column without fear of setting off the air bag. Earlier models were a little hairy as you had to pull the steering wheel to get to the turn signal switch. I worked at a GM dealer and watched all the service videos even though I was the parts manager. These earlier airbags had to be jumpered after a disconnect as to prevent static electricity from firing the air bag. The airbag harness is well marked.
      Even so if the procedure in the repair manual said to take precautions to keep the airbag from deploying you can bet that a technician that is doing the procedure is getting paid by the job and not by the hour you can bet he/she is taking every shortcut possible so they can put shoes on their kids' feet and jewelry around their spouse's neck.

      Soooo… is it not necessary to disconnect the battery, or should I do it??? I need to fix my switch, but dunno if I really need to disconnect battery. It’s dead now anyway bc the high beams won’t turn off anymore.

      Maybe....I'm not sure. I no longer own this car. Are the hazard lights controlled by that stall too or a separate switch? If separate I'd look elsewhere for the problem

    Mine is a 2004 2500, when I turn the right turn signal the emergency lights come on too. I already replaced it but it keeps doing it. Do you all think the new one is also damage? Or something else is wrong. I got it at O'Reilly. Paid 195

      Follow the harness wires coming out of the switch, this sounds like a short due to damaged insulation.

  • @Mutt929

    I'm sure it's been mentioned or maybe not. Do your testing before you put everything back together. Especially if you go with the cheaper China part.
    My 03 Tahoe Z71 has to be replace now. It's identical in color to yours. My issue is the same as with my Silverado. Unlike you I'm constantly using my cruise control. Both my Silverado (02) and the Tahoe kicks off the cruise control when changing lanes on the highway. Turning on the left signal is good to go but when I turn on the right to move back to the lane, the cruise kicks off. This is both of my vehicles. Annoying

    GM put too many controls on a single stalk for way too long. And even today they’re still doing the same thing.
