I find Canon 24-105/2.8L still superior, duo to 24-28mm extra FL which makes it MUCH more versatile. Also internal zoom is awesome, and zoom ring that is smoothest I’ve ever used and can literally be operated with one hand. Of course it’s much more expensive and weights extra 300g. This 28-105/2.8 is great too, no question.
That's what Sigma thought too. Size and weight and cost. If they wanted to make it start from 24 and be 300 grams heavier and 2X the price, i am sure they could do it. The company that first made a 14/1.4, or an 180/2.8 true macro, or the 120-300/2.8, or the 200-500/2.8...i think they could easily pull it off.

@@warpspeed9877 They're mutually exclusive in the sense that the choice is entirely up to what camera system you are using. The Canon isn't available to L and E shooters, the Sigma isn't available on Canon RF.

I tested this lens yesterday for 30mins or so before they tore it out of my hands so that someone else can play with it. And I tried looking for a test photo with relevant detail in focus in the corners but couldn't find any, should've shot a brick wall but then I was indoors and there was no exposed brickwall that I could see.
Anyways, I tested it as if I was shooting a normal event and it worked great. It's not light but well-balanced so doesn't feel front heavy when holding it. I would rather buy this than any 24-70 2.8 if I were to want a lens in this range. At nearly half the price as the Canon, I am ok with losing that 4mm which is around a step and a half back in an event, quite doable in most events.

It sounds like a great option, I have a 24-105 f4 Panasonic and Sony and for the Panasonic S5 MKII I have the first 24-70 f2.8 and 105 f2.8 macro both from Sigma, the 105 f2.8 macro is much smaller than the 82mm on the new zoom, also the Panasonic 24-105 f4 has ibis, so I would have to sell some of the above for the 28-105 f2.8 and being that they are in excellent condition I don't know if it is worth it.
Pity Nikon and Canon are still shutting out Sigma full frame lenses.

Soooo many videos out now with this new 28-105 E mount. And yet nobody compares it to Sonys 24-105 f/4 ??? Isnt that the lens this should be competing with ? ....... makes no sense none of you "testers" do this test.
Art series vs Sony G series lens. 24-105 was released in 2017, older tech, older lens. 24-105 is a pretty good lens for the price but the only category it wins in, is size and weight, and even then its 886g vs 950g. Might be worth doing a short on though.

Wait..... the older version...... well then thats what we should compare this to. To make ppl think about upgrading their old 24-105 to a newer 28-105.....period.
How can you say the canon is so many pounds and the sigma is only and then use kilograms. Why not compare in the same unit.
You got me! I was going back and forth between imperial and metric and was struggling between a few takes. The final edit ended up with Pounds and Kg. Given the choice between the two, what do you prefer?

The corners are not sharp..i can see this even on my ipad
