All beautiful pieces I hadn’t heard before. I don’t need a tutorial for the first two. The third piece has my vote for a tutorial as making a melody sing out over a left hand accompaniment is a current goal and challenge, and the beauty of that piece would make the challenge fun and engaging. That said, a tutorial on the fourth piece about all the ornaments and how to rhythmically think and count them, rather than just hoping for the best, would also be helpful. Thanks for bringing these pieces to my attention!

I love that you cover intermediate pieces! I'm self-taught (with UA-cam and online courses) at the early intermediate level and it's difficult to find tutorials and videos for my level.

This video demonstrates the difference between intermediate and expert. Yes, the pieces are at the intermediate level and lovely, but the playing is at the expert level as the shaping of the phrases demonstrates. By shaping, I mean the micro-expressions, subtle and minuscule speed-ups and slow-downs from the metronome beat, sorta like an expert actress my have micro-expressions with their face. Bravo, but I'm not sure how to teach or learn this.
Yes this is the classical style like some notes louder than other some slower than others. That is exactly why we do in lessons

Really insightful comment. The absolute best way to learn the art of phrasing and other musical intricacies is to have a wonderful musician/teacher conduct/sing with you as you play. Another helpful thing to do would be to find a recording that you love of a piece you can play, then play along with it. Not to copy EXACTLY what they're doing, but to gain an awareness of when they're speeding up, slowing down, getting louder, etc. Doing this will teach how the musical language works, inflections and all (just like learning a language - we need to HEAR it and copy what others say to truly get a feel for "how it goes"). Obviously, UA-cam is a difficult space to do what I mentioned above, but I'm always trying to find ways to convey this through video! And it's a lifelong journey.

Summer Splendor is my favorite piece, although it is out of my reach at this time. I’m at Faber Book 2 currently so I hope I can play this piece in the near future. Thank you Susan for all the great lessons. I think your piano courses are the best and I’m a member even though I take private lesson as well.

I think the CPE Bach piece would be my vote.
I was using Czerny but recently have been using Moulin de Ville (Burgmüller). I've started playing 1 through 4 in all the keys, and my teacher is impressed and wants me to continue. Catherine Rollin is intriguing and is on my bucket list.

Hi Susan! I took a brief break today from my doggie nurse duties to watch this. Thoroughly enjoyed all the pieces, but if I have to pick just one, it's got to be Summer Splendor. Liked it enough to purchase Lyric: 22 Expressive Piano Solos. May be technically just a bit out of my reach just yet that won't be the case forever. Once again, how do you come up with so much music that speaks to me. You're costing me a lot of well spent money on music books! 😁
