- On Wednesday 1st December 2021 at 11:00hrs UTC, ASTRA left Lanzarote on the 1st leg of her circumnavigation.
The challenge was a world first for a motorboat under 24 metres to complete a circumnavigation via all of the Capes in the Southern Hemisphere:
Cape of Good Hope, South Africa
Cape Leeuwin, Western Australia
South East Cape, Tasmania
South Cape, New Zealand
Cape Horn, Chile.

My old Friend Per PG Gustafsson use to own Astra and did many upgrades to her, remember when she was is Holland for the new stabilizers install. What a journey you guys had. Congrats !
Absolutely amazing! Congratulations! I remember when Astra was for sale. What a great boat.
Great to se how well Astra is performing on the big oceans! I have been working with her in sweden as a SAR-vessel for many years, and we really miss her. Regards from Sweden.
Simply incredible! What a story to tell the grandchildren. Wonderful job.
Thanks for watching. Yes a good story to tell one day.
Amazing feat! I remember standing 4 hour watches without the luxury of sitting down throughout the duration of our watches at sea on merchant naval vessels for the entire duration of my 5 years service at sea. Loved every second of it and regret leaving the sea every day of my life. Great video! Keep 'em coming!
Congratulations for circumnavigation!!
many thanks.
I loved watching your journey or shall I call an adventure. This is my dream to take my powerboat around the world. Congratulations on an amazing journey and finish to the goal line.
Well done Iain and the crew , Fantastic achievement !!
Michael, good to hear from you and thanks for watching!

Great story, congratulations!!
Muchas gracias Dolores.
Congratulations for a great achievement well done. I wanted to ask if there's a longer version of the film showing more details about the ship, crew life and so on, it would be great
Excellent, thank you.
What an amazing adventure
My God, she's packed up like the Griswold family truckster 😂😂
Awesome observation!
Truly a monumental experience. well done.
You must be able to carry a shed load of fuel, most of those destinations you outlined are a squillion miles apart. How much fuel can you carry in tanks and what is the gallons per nautical mile that you average?
Very cool…congratulations to entire crew

100% faith in that beautiful rugged Lady. Thank you Astra.
Just awesome. Full stop. What was the main engine?
Well done wat a trip 👍👍👍
Should have shown more of the sea conditions and harbours. Fascinating nonetheless
The Direction of the Route Map at 0:48 is Backwards.!!!
What are all the totes filled with
Why the rush? Seems like a lot of time and money and not have an enjoyable trip.
That's exactly what I said in 2002 on HMS York 🤔
Phenomenal
My Friend sold the boat to these guys, he spent a lot of money on her and modifying her. But then sold it to these great chaps
The King of Dramamine
I’m game… let’s do this. Let’s put on a show with me and my son buying a trawler.
Very muddled audio. Clarity sucks.
I just bought a 23 meter boat…😂
🥂🍾👍
Congrats, but this trip could have been better planned to avoid the delays and time wastages.
I think you will find that 46ft Nordhavn, Egret, with a couple on board finished their circumnavigation in 2011 by rounding all the Southern Capes. Astra looks quite a bit bigger! Well done all the same but hardly the claim to fame you think it is!
Let them soak in the glory. Don't be such a downer and know it all.
I’d like to apologise on behalf of most kiwis. Dictator Cindy, our ex prime minister if NZ has done a great job of setting NZ back decades with a well over reaction to a lab leak. We are 60b further in debt and a bit of a laughing stock for blanket shutting down our country without compromise. We had family unable to get home to see sick family / births.
Everyone’s been AROUND the globe since sailing was invented. Let’s see you go from California SW and do it. You know you can’t because of that pesky ice wall. LOL
Hi Herb, thanks for watching. Agree there have been many circumnavigations of the earth, but this was the first via the Capes in the Southern Hemisphere on a small motor boat
Hell of a trip. You lucky bastards.
Big freakin deal you did a trip on a big boat with a big crew and you're probably pampered the whole way I see it as a waste of fuel and just more pollution into no major achievement there
Wow someone had a bad day!🤣
Probably more than you have ever achieved in your lifetime 😅😅😅
