When I bought my camper last year, I was sold on the Meercat. However, the dealer was just really bad at getting back to me and had no interest in going under $30K for a camper with no options. I went a different direction--a squaredrop. To date, I haven't really needed the ability to stand up inside. The other two options here are far heavier than I was willing to consider.
@@axelcampmaine I have an Intech Flyer Pursue. I chose it because it seemed to fit my dog's needs better than any other option. It had enough additional space for my dog's familiar crate and my bed, and I can still keep some of the floor space open so I can sit down with my dog and feed her in any weather. She is blind and cannot feed herself.
@@axelcampmaine another thought about teardrops and dogs is that since you are not walking around in there, you can insulate the floor with foam tiles and rugs, and that makes things warmer for your pup.
With your permission, a few comments. MeerKats are, 1st: @ 95% Metal Construction. 2nd: @1200 pds, have seen every model economy car tow them. 3rd: that price was many years ago. Never the less, expect 3% less mpg. Stable and highly aerodynamic. I sell them for a living. Sold factory direct only, like Scamp and Casita.
@@axelcampmaine only the roof is fiberglass on the MeerKat. Notice spelling please. Under the aluminum skin is 1" steel tubing. Materials and Constitution set the MeerKats apart from the norm.
A wealth of great information as I’m looking to buy my first small camper! Thank you!
Glad it was useful!

Interesting. Makes sense, some argue that they're better because they get you outside more. What did you get for a squaredrop?

@@cherylbarrett3443 Thanks for the tip, great way to take care of your dog. I've reviewed those and they seem like great campers.

Cool, thanks for the info. But I don't get the bit about them being mostly metal, aren't the bodies made of fiberglass?
