- Today we are exploring the Skull Cavern treasure rooms! I explore the depths of the cavern over two days to see how often they appear and what kind of stuff they can give you. The results surprised me. The results also frustrated me. Just another fun idea I wanted to explore. Stardew Valley gameplay with my commentary as always.
Youve actually been lucky with that hat, according to the wiki it only spawns in skull cavern

Along with the blue cowboy hat. Before the multiplayer update I had all 36 hats collected, but then the update added 3 more, 2 of which are skull cavern treasure room only. That collection is probably not getting completed again.

One time, I was in Skull Cavern looking for Iridium to make sprinklers. Then I hit a treasure floor with 5 iridium sprinklers. It was wonderful

oh jesus christ i didn't even catch that. i meant to say you can only get up to 2 iridium sprinklers at a time. I looked at the tables on the wiki and you probs found the 2 sprinklers and a few bars as that can happen.

My fiance and I have been watching your videos for a while, as they always make us laugh. but the main reason why I'm commenting right now, is thanking you for specifically uploading this video.
Originally I was planning on getting in the shower earlier today, but saw this video and we decided to watch it before I did so. However, about half way through this video, my mother showed down to me that she needed me to bring her to the hospital, due to a huge amount of pain shooting down her arm, as she thought it could have possibly been a heart attack. I was able to get her there quickly, and it turned out it was a pinched nerve due to bulging discs in her neck.
But it could have been a whole lot worse. And if I didn't watch you, I wouldn't have changed what I was doing a bit and actually been free to drive her there. So I really want to thank you for doing what you do and bringing happiness to people who watch your stuff, and I know it wasn't intentional of you, but thank you for getting me to change my schedule so I was able to drive her right away.

BacentRekkes that's awesome that it worked out so well. One time our water was frozen for like a week. I had to go to my moms to shower and I was so irritated about it all. When I got there I saw my mom's throat was swollen and rushed her to the hospital. Her cancer had come back and in the night she had a heart attack. Our water problem literally saved her life. It's crazy how life works sometimes!
Side note: please tell your mom to call 911 in the future. Never risk that because if she had have been having a heart attack there would be little you could do and it would be disastrous and emotionally devastating for you

I have a similar story too.While I am watching one of DF's videos,my dad got a high blood pressure and was feeling bad.He was sent to Sta. Hospital and later he got better.

I guess Ive got pretty lucky with treasure room drops (only started doing skull cavern properly today), so far Ive got the blue cowboy hat, a prismatic shard and a seed maker from them

Nice! :D I thought I could put iridium in the crystalarium but I couldn’t -,_,-
I would like to point out that the best thing about treasure chest rooms for people who do not use mods is that it means you get a quick free level. That is the main good thing. Meaning the next level will have a little better odds of having iridium. Plus I guess it is exciting/interesting. Not too terribly useful, but kind of nice and breaks up the monotony.
Treasure floors can spawn on any floor after floor 10. The rate in which they spawn and what floors they spawn on depends on your luck. If you set yourself to far beyond max luck they spawn on every floor. A treasure floor that occurs can occur on that same floor again in the future, but it will no longer have treasure.
Opens treasure chest: Pam pops out holding beer glasses over her top bits and wearing nothing else. She was waiting just for you, DF.

I do think its one of the random little statues you can just find. They are like little easter eggs and I have the one shown in the video. I put some item in a wooden crate for it
It's a dummied out item called the Teddy Timer, there's a bunch of similar items only accessed through cheats or commands.

Wonder if it'd be different on Friday? Because that's the day that Krobus goes quiet for Yoba. Maybe Yoba will reward you if you don't talk to anyone? It is a bit odd that to get to the desert, you don't actually have to speak to Pam, you get the ticket from the machine.
Maybe the real treasure is the friends we made along the way

If you found 8 treasure rooms in 530 floors over the 2 days that would suggest a 0.015% chance of them spawning.
On day 1 alone : 0.005%
On day 2 alone : 0.02%
So not very likely!

I believe treasure floors are random. I've gotten more than 1 treasure floor within the first 80 floors and they also seem to spawn in different floor numbers each time I visit the Skull Cavern. I have also had the luck of finding a second treasure floor after going down the stairs of a treasure floor.

No more than the mod did.
I believe the treasure floors in the Skull Cavern are completely up to chance. I've had days where I found three or four within the first fifty floors, and others where I didn't find any at all.
On a side note: I have, a total of three times, found a Crystalarium in these chests. They are certainly worth it.
Sundays are my Skull Cavern days regardless of luck. One time I got 3 treasure rooms in a row. Floor after floor. It wasn't a full luck day, but I think I had a lot of luck buffs. Pumpkin soup is such a game changer for Skull Cavern
Pumpkin soup is the best food item for skull cavern early game because Gus sells it pretty often and it only takes 1 milk and 1 pumpkin for 200 energy 80 health and 2 luck to make, the recipe comes from robin at 7 hearts.
I have found quite a few treasure floors. My most common gift is bombs, I have also gotten 3 auto grabbers which are amazing.

The rooms start appearing after floor 10 and are more common on good luck days. Things like the special charm in your bag make you have a better chance of finding them and they can drop many different things. Floor depth doesn't affect what you find.
I play this on the switch, and I went in there on a good luck day, finding 5 treasure floors in a row. Each floor with the chests had rocks, and I would mine them, finding a different staircase. I would take the new staircase, and each time another floor with a chest would appear. I think I found a cowboy hat, seeds, 5 iridium bars, iridium sprinklers, and an auto grabber. That doesn’t include the other floors I found that day too :). Pretty lucky!
I actually got an orange tree sapling . Never been lower than level 50...I need one prismatic shard and I cannot find one, and yet you found 16.
when I found my first prismatic shard I felt the same way I did when I found my first diamonds in Minecraft ;D
Just to add in this amazing community if you are playing on mobile and your item stack is full and you find a treasure chest (doesnt matter if skull caverns or normal.mines) dont trqsh anything to makeninventory om the item. Once ypu click ok the treasure item that drop will be multiplied by 2
Treasure floors have a small chance to spawn on each floor after floor 10 . The better your luck the better your chance .so max luck day + lucky charm + a food that boosts luck is the best way to find it .
The rocks-only every 5 floors are probably due to re-used code from the mines, since you don't get ores on floors with a lift door there (every 5)
a few videos ago you joked about having a “Meteorite farm”, and i love that idea tbh. you should try something like that!!
The second ladder in the treasure room isn't odd. If a ladder hasn't spawned and there are still rocks there is a guarantee that there will be a ladder spawn from those rocks, and floors that have ladders on them naturally don't have that ladder count as a spawned ladder.

You have to experience as much as DF to find a treasure room with a prismatic shard and just say "that's disapointing"
Yeah, I got the auto grabber from a treasure floor when I used the magic rock candy before I was even able to buy them from Marnie. Was pretty psyched about that lol.
I've lucked out quite a bit on the treasure floors. I've gotten an auto-grabber, crystalarium, seed maker, a blue cowboy hat, sever engery tonics and life elixirs, and a couple different food items (I think farmer's lunch and pumpkin soup). There's good potential if you get lucky.
I love the fact that you have boquets and mermaid pendants on your hotbar... It's like you're always ready to marry and divorce everyone even the guy with the camel in the desert.

Confirmed, the red cowboy hat is Skull Caverns exclusive. There is also a blue cowboy hat that you can find down there.

ive hit iridium sprinklers, seed makers, an auto grabber, a ton of seeds, the red and blue cowboy hat, just yesterday i got a crystalarium which was nice. im almost positive you can get any item even some craftsbles in those treasure chests but a lot of them are quite rare. i have yet to get a prismatic shard out of them. so you were just lucky or unlucky.
The pumpkin soup also will show up at the saloon and you can buy about 2-3 of them, but they don't appear often
I once found a Crystalium in a Treasure room so It's definitely worth looking through!

A few months ago, I got two autograbbers, both on consecutive treasure floors, quite early in skull cavern. Haven't been that lucky since.
The hat is only found in the skull caverns! Good find!
From how the game generates the treasure rooms and the treasure inside them it all falls to the RNG.
First up, how the Skull Cavern spawns Treasure Rooms.
Every time you go into, or down a floor, it will roll a number roughly between 1-1000 or even more.
So if you don't land on the dice to spawn one, it will spawn one of the many other rooms.
Second is the treasure inside it.
It rolls between 1-X items that can spawn and if you land on 1, it will give you the items that is bound to that number.
So you could go years without finding a single treasure room, and then spend another few years on never getting the things you want from the treasure.
Definitely the only place you can get that hat, good find!

Holly crap I used that on my not very big mods stream. I did stuff like the tractor mod and more seeds.
The hats are determined by the achievements. Once u get an achivement, the hat salesman will have that corresponding hat.
DF, I think the game was trying to be kind giving you so many prismatic shards... probably figured you could use some more, considering you use them soooo frequently ;D ALSO, that cowboy is hat IS unique to skull cavern, I found a blue cowboy hat down there (which is also unique to skull cavern).
I have mined in skull cavern fairly deep (~100 floors) several dozen times and I have never seen a treasure floor. I didn't even know skull cavern COULD have them.
omg the other day I did a skull cavern run and found a treasure floor and it had an “auto petter” in it? i’ve never heard of those or seen them but it keeps your animals reasonably happy every day, not completely but it’s better than having to pet them every day because I find that to get tedious. i’m not sure if they added that in the recent update but wanted to share

I just had a run where I got two treasure floors consecutively... Twice. It was very weird, but I had eaten a magic rock candy so that might be why...
I just did a skull cavern run since I was in the desert anyway, it was a little extra luck day and I hit treasure floors like every other floor three times after lvl 30. I got two red slime eggs and some Omni Geodes
And that is the story of how the red cowboy hat was born
While doing 2 skull cavern runs in 2 days, I found a lot of treasure floors but I only found them when I jumped down shafts mainly. You should retry the idea but jump down shafts because those might have a factor into finding the floors.

You usually encounter many more treasure floors 'cause you usually boost your luck when you go there.
The spawn rate may have been changed too with the last update. I remember going to skull cavern with the highest luck possible and finding just as much treasure floors.

This just made me realize that Skull Cavern is one giant troll to treasure hunters. Go for treasure: nothing. Go for materials: find treasure left and right.
I always get Seedmakers and Autograbbers from these treasure chests... rarely anything else.
I think floor 100 will always be that small floor, because there's a Qi quest to get down to that floor.
Eat the rainbow candy with two lucky rings on top of the lucky charm this will bring your chance of finding a treasure chest after floor ten by 7 percents very good found 4 at floor 94

First time I made it to floor 100 I got 3 chest floors: a crytalarium, auto grabber, and another with an iridium sprinkler. I think I got all the luck that day lol
Talks about a realistic scenario where somebody could have the luck items to do this, then jumps on his mod tractor that isn't available on most version of the game.
All the tractor did was make it faster. If you want to speed up the process you can just use a bunch of staircases.
I only find iridium sprinklers in them,usually 2. Not bad
