- Zipping past an unexpected Border Patrol checkpoint near Tecate, California, we lean into a banked turn pinned in fourth-gear with the tach hovering near redline on Kawasaki's best-selling sportbike. But it's not what you think. No border agents or any other government officials are scrambling to run us down with flashing lights blazing because, lucky for us, Kawasaki's best-selling sportbike is the Ninja 250R.

This video made me realise just how far cameras have come in 9 years. This looks like it was filmed with a potato.
It's how the video was compressed during processing more than the camera. Even the text at the top is blurry AF.
🤣 fkn potatoe??
This video is 7 years old. Where has the time gone.
Exactly what I thought!
9 years old now :'(
10 years now😅
It goes home for tea and biscuits...
12 years now :0
250r's are discontinued in the USA. It's been replaced by the 300 so used 2008 Ninja 250r's should be less than $1500, but lots of people both Dealer and Private Owners are selling it over $2500. It's fucking bullshit.
exactly!
n3rdbear The dealer near my house is selling a 2009 ninja 250r is $3700 with tax :( I found a seller who is giving his away for $2900 which is a steal to me! XD
Picking me up one of these tomorrow :-) Can't wait
Hey so yeah it's pretty coolHARDCOREMETALMUSICand it's a pretty good beginner bikeMETALOCALYPSE
Love that bike, Im getting one when I pass my test soon
The Ninja 250r For Sure. an amazing bike to start out with, curb weight is great, handling is awesome, performace is decent.
the nicest 250 out there in the market, hands down. God I love this bie
I ordered a black one in April and im gonna pick it up in 2 weeks!!! Cant wait!
I rode my 07' Ninja 250 for the summer over the ferry system in Seattle. Summer job at Federal Center South. I love it. Extremely agile, and very responsive. It's not going to beat a liter bike off the line, but I took it up to Bellingham and was doing 80, quite comfortably.
finally someone with sense :) I have only seen 2 250's on the streets since I been driving (9 years). They are funny looking and I had fun playing with the one never leaving 1st gear. lol
I just bought mine today!!! I f-ing love it! Got mine in blue!
I've got this bikes engine in my 06 ex250. Works nicely in the old chassis.
Ninjas, both the bike and the stealth warrior, are friggin' awesome!!!
rode it today and i love it
Spent a lot of hours doing tedious maneuvers on a 250r today for my motorcycle safety course. This bike is AWESOME. Ive spent quite a few years on motorcycles, all types.. & For what this bike has to offer, its amazing. Its the absolute best bike for entry level riders, or someone who just wants a great commuter. Its even comfortable for me, being 6'8''. Not ideal, but comfortable enough for me to enjoy it
Luv this fast ninja. I had a ninja back in 1988
im 5-3 140lb got my self a 250r Ninja SE last week I'm loving it
HAHA i love it how he looks to his side when he says "were in San Diego, California" It's like he forgot but he might just admiring the scenery
What a amazing sports bikes in dashing color.I wanna ride this.
The kawasaki 250r is SO underrated!!
Just cause they're not super fast they get talked down upon but I think the kawasaki 250r is 1 of the best motorcycles ever built!
I learned on this bike then got an 07 yamaha r6. It's a nice bike all around I kind of miss it.
agreed. taking a rider course makes for cheap insurance, is well worth it, and youll learn alot about power bands, revs, etc
hey im 17 and thats the bike im getting from aprilla at the top of my road, my ones got a monster energy paint job its pretty nice :) cant wait to finish paying it off
yeah good choice, i couldn't be more satisfied with mine. there is green, black, red, blue, and a special edition green and black combined
makes sense, thanks, i just read the specs on it haha, I appreciate the help! thanks again.
It's usually not important to know the exact gear you're in. Shift up or down to stay in the power band, and get all the way back to first when you come to a stop.
I ride the 2007 ex 250 here in los angeles and I already clocked in almost 9000 miles on it,I commute with it to work everyday.its the best bike for the money, specially considering surging gas prices.I get 190 miles for a mere $12.I highly recomend it.
Thanks. I ordered a black one.
I am on queue till late June :(
CAN"T WAITTTTTTTTTt
I have a 2009 Ninja 250R and I have a temperature gauge instead of a fuel gauge. Probably a difference between US and European models?
fast pocket bike!!!
La Ninja!!!
Mucho Grande Verde!!!
awesome bike
yeah this bike is good i used to have a 2002 250ex its a great begginer bike, and this, about fucking time, took it out of the 80's and into the 21st century
Definitly, this bike is an excellent starter, its light, nimble, and can jump up to speeds pretty nicely. The only thing you would be concerned about, is growing out of it after the first season, (trust me after you push a bike to its limits you always want something bigger) depending if you want to re-sell.
Thats a neat lil' bike
@Superwoman2012 Not a problem I'm glad I could help, like I said when I first started I made some errors that were totally avoidable but without experience I made the mistake. If you are interested in the Ninja 250 line I would recommend the 2008 model and up. The earlier models look like garbage and don't even qualify for the sportbike genre. Make sure to get some good gear to it may be a hassle to wear but in the end you will be glad that you are wearing it. Again glad to see your enthusiasm
im prob gonna get that bike this summer... but i def. got to change the exhast.. not my favorite sounding one right there, but def. not bad!
On top of that, the 250 doesn't bite your head off if you misjudge a corner a little bit. If you want to play around on a twisty backroad, the Ninja 250r is a sweetheart.
Tomorrow I'll by my first motorcycle, a ninja 250r. Im so damn happy!
A legjobb a kategóriában.Ha tanulni akarsz,...akkor ez kell neked!
Such a nice looking bike. So glad they finally did a face lift. I was thinking of getting this as a starter, but my only reservation would be wondering if It could still handle a 220lb guy like myself and still have some zip.
I have 2004 ex250 (ninja 250), and it does fine up hills and on the freeway. In high winds it can get pushed around a bit in the wind and rain, but I find it acceptable.
Nice video, I'm 22 and I'm going to learn how to ride a bike soon and was thinking about first bike ideas, I like the sporty looking and sounding ones so this caught my eye.
I love the look of the CBR 600RR but I heard that's a bad idea for first bike because of things like the riding position et.
At about 2:18 what does he mean by the 'rake' or something?
@manenkoff so they don't come from fabric with the exhaust right under the seat. you actually have to go to a shop and do the modifications.
when my hubby borrowed his friend busa i had no troubble riding it and i'm only 5'5! but i'm used to rideing big bikes!
Break-in period depends on the bike (it will say in the manual) but it's usually around 500-1000 miles. This typically involves keeping the tach under a certain rpm until it's fully broken in.
Breaking in seats all the seals, valves, and other engine bits and parts properly. You will notice that your power will increase during the break-in (if done properly). If you don't break in the bike properly, you will get premature engine wear, and less power than if done properly.
an awsome bike and for a teen like me its a great way to build your credit
@319PurpleHaze its called breaking in your motor. its worth being patient for. break it in proper though, vary the throttle, dont hold at same rpm for long at all, slowly keep pushing it further. non synthetic is better for break in,
What would you recommend a new rider should look into for their first ride?
im gettin one at the end of the summer, im not sure what color im gonna get, and im really stoked for it, but one thing iv had problems finding on this one is its top speed...neone know i head it tops out round 110 but idk
omg i love that bike
Checking out a used 2008 today. Professionally modified for lower seats but it's going to be sick.
I wish my 500 ninja looked like this thing...
It looks awesome!!!
My 500 art least has 57hp (about) rather than 24...
lotta respect for the 250 though...
I am thinking about getting one, what do you guys think ?
i bought one. and it kicks ass!
for around town perfect bike but for highway riding, you might need something bigger.
Ok finally someone who knows the Canadian weather and the market ... I have been trying to decide which one to focus on Ninja 250 or CBR 125. I am a complete newbie when it comes to bikes cuz I have always been a freak about cars but I am planning on getting my Ontario motorcycle Licence in Summer 2009 and want to start off slow as long as I can use it as a commuter bike on the highway i will be a HappyMan Which one would you recomend considering I am a 6foot guy Any feedback will be appreciated
nice color !!
you really cant any better of a beginner bike!! I had a gs500f as my first bike, i have an SV1000s now. i would not be as good of a rider if i woulnt have gotten this small of a bike to start out. im a speed freak, i took my gs500f to the max, which is only 118mph, the second day i had it or had ridden in general. if i wouldve bought a gixxer 600, id be dead. this bike is 100% perfect for a beginner! and for 3500 bux for a brand new bike, you canot beat it.
I was just in a Honda/Kawasaki Dealer today, and they had a Ninja with the rear seat cover
Thats acctually a really good starter bike
@funkygunky1 @Mafiose19 thanks for your help guys. im around 5' 11" . do you think this bike is too small for me?
yes it would definatley suit you. if your a beginer. and i dont think that your height will effect the ride at all
On my Honda Rebel, I can put a huge dufflebag on sissybar in second passenger seat, a backpack on gas tank, saddlebags, tool bags on front and back, and probably even attach a tent and bedroll if I needed, and still wear a backpack. There's no way to carry ANYTHING on this bike short of wearing a backpack. The more you ride a bike, the more you want and need to carry STUFF. Groceries every week. Change of clothes for a week long trip. Stuff you buy at the store. Books. Tools. You name it.
I have already been sold on this bike. Looks like I'm going to have a new toy next summer in lime green
new is 4,200 roughly, and they can be found used for around 2500-3000 dollars for one a couple years old. blue book the cost before haggling, though. the 2008 model msrp was only 3499, so people asking for 3000 after 5 years is something that can be brought down. (a quick search on kelly lists the value of a 2010 model in "excellent" condition at $3,130, for instance).
i am all up fr buying this bike, my only problem is that i think Honda cbr 250 is slightly better in looks department, what d you think guys?
Great bike for a beginner dude...a Ninja 250 was my 1st bike - and I have NEVER regretted it. First, how can you even come close to that price...I think mine was $1995. Second, it is probably the best learner/starter bike I have seen, and the changes for '08 are totally awesome. Even if you only keep for a riding season or two, you have lost nothing (I sold mine for almost exactly what I paid for it new when I was ready to upgrade). Any way you look at it - there is now downside. BE SAFE!
Is there a custom parts market for this bike? I am just getting into sportbike riding and I think this is the perfect first bike for me. My dream bike is a Suzuki GSX-R, and I was going to start with a 600 since it was the smallest, and I tend to push the limit with everything so I don't want to start with a huge bike until I have years of experience. Then I saw this and it's perfect because it's small but it still LOOKS like the big boys, and that styling very much appeals to me.
I've been actually thinking of getting a bike, and the first one to come to mind was the Kawasaki Ninja 250R. Its cheap, looks sleek and saves on tons of gas!
Does the bike only come in green...or is there black as well?
can you use this as a commuter bike even though you dont have the need to speed ?
is it good for commuting ? easy to turn ? easy to move around ?
coz i dont know whether i should decide on this or vtr250.
Wich one is better, the Hyosung GT250R or the Ninja250?
is it possible to get one of these with the exhaust under the seat rather than on the side.????????
wow, the viscious guitar makes it even more formidable, lol! *250 nick*
i'm 17 and hell yes: this is gonna be my first bike. brand new 2011 ninja 250r special edition lime green. the next level of my life begins:D
bought this bike new apr 1st and just bought 08 gsxr 600 the white and silver , i lost my key for the 250 when i went to the cycle shop the gsxr was displayed on a table color looked sick , and i rode out with it ,, i loved the 250 i even felt sad , but got over it after a few days , 250 55mpg / 600 43 mpg plus 6k more and insurance is more, once u get back on the 250 u WILL notice the weak power, but still fun and cheap
I haven't even done my CBT yet, I'm just starting out, but when I'm 17 I'm hoping to do my full test and eventually ride a Ninja 250r?
im 5,7 150 lbs is this bike decent enough for my size?i dont want it to be too small or too big especially
you might have already goten the answer through research but this bike is perfect for beginners, not too much power and nible like the dude said..I really want one you should buy one mate
im about 6'1" and am wondering what would be a good sized bike to start on. any suggestions?
i live in belgium and bougth a 08 ninja but i don't got the fuel gage, i got tempature meter and the speed is in km/h wich i prefer
i have one with 54358 miles on it...still reves like a champ!!
Why does it seem like in every Kawasaki Ninja 250R video I see, that the left light bulb seems to be brighter than the right one. Is this how it is in person? If so.. Why?
Nice, i was thinking of modding my bike, how much did you spend total on that?
how bout the quality is it good....im a beginner and i might buy this bike is it good
its probably the best value out there. wish it had a better soundtrack.
Hey im looking for a beginner bike, so far most people recommend something under 500cc, this bike looks the best so far, are they any others i should consider? thanks ahead of time.
That bike is going to be my future bike, but I'm not going to start out riding on it though. I'm a greenhorn when it comes to riding.
So apart from the Ninja 250r, what are some other great beginner 250cc sportbikes that can be found used?
i knew rthey made on but all the videos of them ive seen were somewhere othere than the US those 2-stroke 125's look pretty neat.. never seen one here maybe im just dumb... i always see honda rebels and ninja 250 , damn i want a ninja 250...
So to round up. Its an all new bike. Thnks
What's a good bike for beginners?
i dont know alot about bikes i would like to know which one is the better one to own
the Ninja 250R
Honda CBR 250RR with the taga bodykit
and or the Honda VBF 400 with an upgrade kit???
are these bikes a really good starter bike ? its 6500 or i can get a 600cc for 11500 what do youguys think?
Hey J.. I hear what you saying however. what would you recommend for a new rider. I did the motorcycle course on a 250 but i feel like if I jump on 600cc that will be too much. I also feel like if i go for a 250 i'll be tired of it quick.
@TheButchart Well then, I appreciate your professionalism, Which bike do you recommend for someone with no experience ?
Going to get my license on a scooter, hear that easier then using a full sports bike.
im 6'3 , will this bike suit me? which beginners bike is good for tall people?
Which Ninja bike is best fit for someone that is 5'4 125 lbs and a begginer
Okay I'm going to be honest, I've NEVER even been on a motorcycle but it's always good to try new things right? So yeah, my question is would a Kawasaki Ninja be a good bike for beginners? I live in a pretty small town in Washington and it has lots of back road too and my cousin who rides motorcycles has a road in front of his house that goes straight for a few miles and there are never any cars going through the road since he lives out of town so maybe that could be a good place to practice?
hows the seating position on a f2/3 also whats the diff between f2 and f3?
is it more like upright sitting liek a 250 or more leaned forward?
Do they sell the special edition everywhere? Does it cost more as well? I've also seen a black one with copper coloured suspension, calipers and brake disks...o: Is that also part of the special edition?
Any who, this is an awesome bike. :P
