  • Steam Cleaning Your Car With The Karcher SC2 | How-To Steam Clean | FocusOnDetailing
This upload incorporates the perks of steam cleaning, how to use a steam cleaner and reviewing the Karcher SC2!
I use a several cars to display just how to go about it with the varying surfaces. From vinyl, leather, fabric and so on.
Steam cleaning is an amazing thing, great for car detailing but it does come with some things to be wary of. This is touched upon in the video.
The Karcher SC2 is a great little machine that is affordable and works very well! I believe it's perfect for those that want an introduction into the car steam cleaning scene. I do have one main issue with it though!
I hope you enjoy/enjoyed this video!

THANK YOU!! I've been trying to find out how to clean some thrifted baby bassinets & car seats & a baby bouncer & a stroller with my steam cleaner (I haven't really used it yet). Now that I think of it, my husband's car IS in desperate need of any sort of cleaning it can get ...
My greatest problem is that I'm in a deep cold winter & so scrubbing baby stuff with mild detergents & spraying off with copious amounts of water isn't really an option at my house. I was pondering doing it at a self-serve car wash, but that sounds like an unspeakably miserable job at this late stage of my pregnancy.
Your video gives some great specific tips as to cleaning cloth vs leather vs padded vs glued surfaces, & how to remove all loosened soil 💜💙💚 I so appreciate you putting this out.

In Australia where do you recommend looking for the next step up in steam cleaners. OS UA-camrs sprout on about the McCulloch 1375, but no one online seems to stock it here that I can find. What is your recommendation as a next step up in steam cleaners that is available here? Thanks, Lloyd

I had an SC2 for 6 months ..only used it for tiled floors..careful use..It was very annoying, do a small section then have to wait for the machine to be ready to carry on (reheat)..Then I was using the machine and where the hose goes into the machine if exploded and pressurised boiling water went everywhere. I wasn't impressed with this machine at all and the pipe itself got extremely hot and it stings when brushing bare legs. I had a full refund and purchased a different make. Apparently the more expensive SC3 has better steam pressure. Only one cleaning pad supplied , could really do with 2 .. I believe its now been discontinued, one of the reason for a refund not a replacement

hello friends, can someone help me, I found an old karcher sc1002 in the cellar, with the safety cap completely blocked, I had to force it to open, now I have it cap is bare (without the black cover and spring etc), but when I close the metal part of the cap, it comes out of the pressurized water, through a very small hole in the middle
I checked how much the cap costs: 45 dollars !! real theft since the karcher today isn't worth more than $ 20 so it's not a good buy. my question is, can i find a standard plug, universal or otherwise, on aliexpress or amazon, ebay etc? (not more than 10 dollars otherwise it is not worth it, it is too old)
I thought of another trick, maybe I can plug the hole in the middle with something, making it waterproof, I will open it each time with pliers, but the time to find a solution?
hole in my opinion has only one role of reassembling the plastic cover by way of safety

How practical and effective is steam cleaning? I experimented with a budget handheld steamer and wasn’t impressed. It loosened gunk on plastic surfaces but didn’t degrease. Furthermore, the steam wasn’t forceful. It was more akin to fog, which made it impossible to see what I was cleaning. I think I’ll stick to cleaners.

I use it to mop my floors, without using any chemicals and gives me much better results compared to nasty smelly allergy inducing (asthma) pinesol stuff :) I also used it on my car once but since I already keep my car tiptop, steaming it is not usually required.

Depends where you live. We don't have 'hard' water where I am, and I doubt tap water is going to do any harm unless you're going to not empty any excess when you're finished.

    • @perfectshave85

I personally wouldn't use it on interiors at all. Boiling hot steam on/near LED screens, fragile headliner(steam could easily soften the adhesive that attaches it), Alcantara, gauges and electronics is never a good idea. Maybe good for a deep-clean of the foot pedals but even that is more mess than it is worth.

The nozzle you chose covered a broad sweep, there are narrower jets available from the clip-on nozzle cover tips. Also a “cold” day is relative, temperature and humidity data would be more helpful. I’d suggest a dry atmosphere with low or indoor, domestic humidity and reasonable airflow to draw away the steam via ambient thermal action. As you want to get a dash clean does it recommend this method or, specifically not, in your driver’s manual,? Warranties from self-induced condensate damage are either rare, or prohibitive.

Using steam to clean delicate materials, car instrument panels and leather, you would have the worry of water spitting out and it realy would not be worth it as you would have to make a very quick pass to avoid heat damage, I would not jeperdise a clients vehicle, this should realy be used for carpets and fabric seats. The correct cleaning solution and detailing with soft brushes is the correct and safer way. I worked as a fire and flood technician and we relied on chemistry and movement to remove all stains definitely not steam. If you look at the video carefuly the food and mess was added. Just be careful with high end tempatures.

Omg that car was disgusting! Lol
Really could have used this when I detailed a Toyota pickup owned by a chain smoker. Had to use soft scrub with bleach, scrub sponges and razor blades to get the crap off the windows.

great video, very crappy steamer!!! i had one, an SC2, which i used no more than 10 times over a period of 3 years. the steaming was good but the cap would get stuck. in the end i could not open it. i tried everything. although karcher is normally a good product this particular model is one to avoid. flawed in design with no solution from karcher.

This is not an issue, but a feature: thermal protection preventing you getting burned when opening too hot boiler ;) However, I can agree: for pro use cases delays it is causing are not nice.

Threaded things do get stiff if not in use for long periods of time and if there is a buildup of limescale this will make it worse, Like any machine it will need maintenance and they do give recommendations for this as well as supplying a fluid for limescale for use with this machine.

The steam generator cleans the joints between the ceramic tiles well. Hard-to-reach places. Slits. But keep in mind that this is hot steam! You can just ruin the leather steering wheel, the leather seats. You may have the plastic come loose from the dashboard. The steam generator can be used to wash the engine. And for the interior, it is better to use a tornado, a washing vacuum cleaner and most importantly-good chemistry ( cleaning liquids)

Hi, by the way all Kärcher Steamers actually disinfect surfaces from bacteria and famous viruses such as the “c” word. All the steamers have this certification including the SC2.
