I plan on reading Persuasion and The Austen Escape (Katherine Reay). I'm currently reading Poirot short stories. I also hope to read The Lost Year for the Buzzword Challenge.
I DNF'd Godmersham Park. I have a feeling you might not like the direction she takes the story. The other retellings you mentioned sound very interesting and i want to try them all! I agree with the web mini series having problematic content. I found a few that i might try.
Oh, now that's disappointing, but thank you for telling me. There are SOOOOOOO many good books that I may not even try it. Why waste reading time on something I'll probably not like? Hmmm... Let me know if any of the web series end up being decent!
I think flawed characters is what I like most about Austen's folks. Different flaws in each one, but I think Emma's flaws are so deeply rooted in self-important immaturity that they annoy me. A thunderpuppy who just crashes over the thoughts and feelings of others. Grrr. BUT... After reading Barbara's books, I saw how Knightley could see past it and into who she would grow into if she had half a chance. And that is what made her sympathetic to me--seeing (through his eyes) how her situation with her father (whom she is truly loving and selfless with), created both who she will be and her flaws in who she is now. I just never saw it in the book itself. I console myself by remembering that Austen thought she'd be the only one who liked Emma. LOL
Emma from the perspective of Knightley sounds great!
Godmersham Park is my pick for that prompt. I’m looking forward to reading it. Enjoy your picks!
I’m reading Pride and Prejudice now for a readathon. My first time and it’s marvelous.
I got Praying With Jane on Kindle unlimited (will order but I want it here for July 1) ...that is going to make it a good month!

I really liked The Lost Year. Persuasion is my second favorite Austen (after Mansfield).
Doesn’t quite fit any of the prompts, but Death Comes to Pemberly is worth a watch. Quite good.
I am doing Jane Austen July but I seem to be taking a little from this and that and just planning to enjoy❤😂🎉
That's what will probably end up happening with me, but I'm gonna try to just plunge into everything for the sheer fun of it.

Emma is my favorite Austen novel, and I will tell you why because Emma is flawed. Aren't we all closer to being an Emma than an Elizabeth?

Did you say you wrote an Austin book?
Yep! Charming Miss Dashwood in the A Very Austen Romance collection. :D
