@@Dontpaymenomine between Titan, Garden’s gift, and Botanica, the taste seems indistinguishable to me. It’s hard to tell because the berries are so sour. The only difference is size. Botanica is by far the largest berry
Hey Nick Kasko I'm deeply appreciative of your video. You mentioned the berries are sour. How Do you ever snack on the berries in spite of this or are they not fit for eating by the handful by any palate?
I found that sea berry can be used for a hedge, however it requires full direct sun. As a hedge the inner and lower branches that are shaded die. Pruning the bushes in a pyramidal form helped some. Pruning and harvesting fruit was like trying to give most cats a bath. The sharp multi-thorned thorns cut, scratch, and impale all but the most heavily protected skin.
I grew seaberry very well in Colorado but since moving to Kentucky have found they do not like growing here. Are there any varieties that would grow in a warm, humid summer climate?
Hi there, thank you for your video. We bought two females and a male from One Green World in Portland, OR. Planted last spring. How soon will females produce berries?
Grateful Loaf, how much space do you have. I just ordered four female and one male but I have a backyard. Wondering if they would be too much to handle.
I bought 2 females and a male and the male is growing well, but the two females haven’t put on much size in a year and a half in the ground. Do you water yours much?
I don’t need to water much because I am very close to the water table. If your soil is dry, you will need to water. They do drink quite a bit of water.
THANKS FOR THE INFO MANY BLESSINGS ❤❤❤❤
How would you describe the differences in taste between your varieties and maybe any others you might have tried? Thanks

It would seem like the thorny variety would be good for those wanting to dissuade birds and other critters from stealing the harvest.
@@fightingquads9198 nobody steals the harvest, the berries are very sour, even for birds

@@seeblu the same way some can snack on lemons without making a face and some can’t 😂
They are easy to propagate as well since they send out runners
Why the tarp on the ground ?looks clean though. Do you grow Moringa Oliefera ?

Do you think it is possible to graft a male branch on a female plant so I could just have one shrub?
Yes just like persimmons, you can graft male onto female
Exactly what I was just thinking... id guess you could, if you wanted to...
Does nt it have thorns? Any varieties that DONT... ie these...?
I have a suggestion
What is the purpose of covering the soil? To prevent water evapuration and use less water?

By any chance are any of your improved cultivars more heavily thorned?
I'd love a productive thorny seaberry for hedges

I don’t know I would try Titan, that one seems to be a vigorous grower
Thank you Nick.
Chapter markers for the varieties would be great.
Where do you acquire these cultivars? I'm very interested in this plant

Is the benefit of no weeds and no grass cutting worth the cost of installing black tarp between the seabuckthorn plants?
Totally worth it but I would only use it to kill the grass. Then go back to just keeping the area well mulched
Location and/or growing zone?
Nice looking trees
