  • Parallel processing refers to splitting the frequency bands and then processing a specific area of those frequency. So in the terms of color bass this means you only put the melodic effect on the mids so it doesnt effect your lows or highs, thus making your bass not suck lol.
Go watch goosi's video if you want a more in depth explanation.

This will create phase issues. Also parallel processing is equivalent to a dry/wet knob at 50%. You have the dry signal (original sound) and the seperate wet signal (dublicate with effects on it).
A more accurate title would be "How to Multiband Process" (Splitting the frequincies in to multiple bands and processing them differently)

well this result is specifically for color bass as you dont want you lows and top end to have a resonated chord applied to it, itll give cleaner results in terms of just throwing it on the entire frequency range.
But thats true, its technically multiband compression but if its technical terms with the effects its self its parallel compression (which sounds gross so yea)
Anyway thats a great insight thanks so much for the comment!

also FL users can recreate this using Patcher and splitting the bands that way. Have fun producing!

there’s also a stock frequency splitter, very easy to use, sidechain it to 3 mixer tracks and that’s it

Imo if you add a bit of high end from the dry signal in with the colored version, which you can also do with parallel processing, it makes it a bit crisper and cleaner
