Fully automatic. The lighting was kind of funky, and I thought if I did anything to sweeten the video it would come out looking weird. The only manual control I used was adjusting the iris using the front ring. If you're not familiar with this camera, the highest level of stabilization does not work in 4k, but I've never really had a problem with it. Thank you for writing.
Larry, Thanks for the reply! I have been shooting airshows with a Canon 1080p that has optical stabilization. My issue is that anytime I shoot a passing plane I get a weird stutter that I have been unable to eliminate no matter what settings I use. I had been thinking of getting a 4K camcorder and your video is so smooth that it caught my eye. I picked up a AX53 for $799 last night. Looking forward to some shows next summer.
Superb choice! This is the first camera I've owned that has high enough resolution and fps that it doesn't stutter when I'm panning. I hope it meets your expectations, too!
You know, I didn't. The lighting was pretty complex and changing fast that day. Bright white clouds in one area, very dark in another, a patch of blue sky and the sun going in and out.
