You're 100% correct, Harbor Freight growth is absolutely exploding compared to all other hardware stores. Last year by sales - they were rated the fastest growing retailer of anything in the COUNTRY. In the last year their foot traffic is up 15%, compared to the rest of the home improvement market being up an average of only 2%. To say business is booming at Harbor Freight is an understatement.
Lots of nice tools, but the price points are too high. People are going to wait until this stuff has to be liquidated in a real sale. Locking stuff in cages to reduce theft is understandable, but is horrendous for marketing.
I get most of my tools at harbor freight or on line sales. HD become an annoying experience to shop and buy at around here with little to no discount last few years same with lowes.
Harbor Freight sold out of all of their Icon sockets when they ran them 40 percent off recently. Im heading over there to pick up a 40 off wrench set today I picked up the Milwaukee fuel 12v hammer drill/ hex impact deal because I needed a new makita battery 😂

Main reason was Dewalt was too expensive for me as they are not an everyday used tool and more importantly, those Dewalt guys couldn’t switch out their old worn batteries for a Ryobi one. Ryobi is only sold at Home Depot. The problem is they don’t really back the product. I have a weed trimmer where the trigger is buggered and I have to install and remove the battery to operate it and they also wont replace the P107 battery that blew up in the charger, not to mention the $600 clean up bill from the smoke damage. If using for work certain things are better. But still need a good sale. Plus unless you lose something or somehow break it just keep a tool clean and last nearly forever. Pricing is also higher. As he said maybe battery sales for cordless if you need them. Don't always need a new supposedly better cordless just because.
I haven’t spent much this year either not much catching my eye. Corded circular saw went out on me so I picked up a Makita cordless saw on that sale. You are right adding those higher end makita tools to the $199 sale would have presented a better value.
Great point here...I'm in Lowes, HD everyday. HD I walk all the stuff up front like years past. Couldn't walk by without picking up one or two items previous years all the time. Been in 10x this month, bought nothing. Same everyday prices looks to me ?
Overstock tool stores are the way to go if you still want to buy brand new stuff. My local store had a huge Black Friday, people had literally carts and dolly carts full of tools. Crazy!!!
The HD sale items are very similar year-to-year. I was starting a new box one year ago and picked up many Husky discount items....the same ones are discounted this year.
These are not special deals. This is basically regular sales price you can get all the time. I waited for the Makita lxt stuff to go on sale and it never did. They have a special to buy a battery kit get a tool free but I already have like 16 batteries. They didn't lower the prices.
Managers are instructed to keep all the displays fully stocked - I’ve seen the employees with boxes of product refilling the empty displays. If the display is empty, sales don’t happen and employees will be in trouble. Go to a regular Makita dealer and you will see the XDT20Z is out, HD just doesn’t have it yet.
Geeeeee, do you think the geniuses at Hd,lowes,Walmart, target, etc., would be smart enough to have a "pre-covid" sale. It's like they don't want to sell stuff. Nothing wow..
Ours are almost always selling out. Except maybe the packouts but I dont know, when the sales first started they had the entire place covered in packouts.
We have only 1 Home Depot and 1 Lowes in Eastern Montana and the prices here are nearly twice what you show on your videos. The DeWalt BOGO special here is 319$ and was sold out within minutes. The entire Home Depot Tool dept is sold out within the first week. All the prices were higher but we have lot of people from CA that moved here with money and just clean out the stores. They like to run up the prices and up bid everything including real estate.
Not to mention that HD now offers many of the deals only through the internet. That's a waste of time, they have a horrible internet service. It either comes with half the order or it is severely damaged. Of the last 6 orders I placed. only 1 was satisfactory. The other five had to be returned and cancelled due to the poor service.

Is part of the issue the in-brand tiers? I recently needed to replace a orbital sander. I'm a Milwaukee fanboy and there are two sanders. The lesser priced one is way less of a tool: ergonomics, no fast stop, etc. The better one is double the price but way more value. Went the same way when getting a drill/ 1/4" impact kit...there are two tiers, too. Maybe focus on adding some discussion when the deal is on the lesser tool and the differences between tiers. That can be a huge difference on performance and longevity. Drilling 1/2" holes through 1/4" steel plate vs drilling out sheet rock for wall hangers screws are two different demands on the power tool.
I used to wait till Black Friday to buy 2pack of Ridgid batteries for 89-99 dollars They are still 99 but smaller capacity, like candy bars got smaller, who can even afford a candy bar now
I bought the ridgid toolbox set but found that i really dont need to take that much stuff. returning the drawers that were 100, wheels were clearance to 13$(which is why i bought it all) and the med box. 150 back in my pocket when i really dont need it and i wonder how many people(diyers) will need these and they are all over the place. got that 79$ kobolt saw with battery and a cut off tool. I think the tools are lasting longer perhaps too.
HD going overboard trying to improve their margins. Were selling so called jumbo pumpkins pre Halloween for $20 a piece. Customers finally catching on to all the fake sales. Greedflation!
The sky is not falling. You’re looking at supply chains back up and running when compared to the past few years. Venders learned you can’t sell something if you don’t have it on the shelf.
Made more money this year than i have in the past.. taking time off for Thanksgiving festivities has my pockets feeling light. May be some okayish deals, but we broke out here!
The reason why ridgid and ryobi are a "great value" is because they are low quality tools. You can't really call something value if you have to replace the tool actwr a couple of years
Home Depot is a joke. Their sales really aren’t that great, and unless I’m in a hurry, I can order it from Amazon for less. Plus they always have very few cashiers open. I’m not checking my own items out, and potentially doing something wrong or missing something, and then be accused of stealing. People stack 10 deep in one line waiting for a cashier that’s busy talking because she didn’t get enough social time today… my time is worth more to me than that.
Its just bad and repeated deals. The price is too high and its on items that everyone already owns, or its not great items. What was it an 8 peice wholesaw kit? What a joke, people want the whole kit ( 28 peice ) and people want a little better deal on it than $144. Make it a flat $100 and they would have been flyin off the shelves. Also that husky tool box starter kit has been a yearly deal for a long time now and they ran it early this year ontop of it. So of course most younger people who want something like that already have it, or have had it for a few years. Those low count socket sets are jokes and the they didnt have any m12 fuel deals. People want m12 fuel nowdays as it does 90% of the the work. Its very rare I ever reach for an m18 anymore. I was really hoping to see the new m12 fuel 1/2 in impact wrench, but it was no where to be seen. Whoever was in charge of the holiday sale this year really dropped the ball, or is so out of touch with reality they dont even know their @$$ from their elbow.

The Milwaukee bits at my Home Depot were pretty wiped out, not much else
Trump will make things cheap again
I buy alot of .milwaukee from home depot... but all online, it's on my doorstep in 2 days.
The HD by my house doesn't have any of these items left. They have a bunch of empty displays
You just have to wait a little longer and the prices drop, but there is so much competition from tool companies that they have to sell their product.
Have those husky tool chest sold for less after the holidays?
Same thing is happening with big screen TV's - not selling!
Made more money this year than i have in the past.. taking time off for Thanksgiving festivities has my pockets feeling light. May be some okayish deals, but we broke out here!
What do you mean 2834-20 Milwaukee M18 fuel 7 1/4 CIRC SAW With 8 AMP FORGE BATTERY and Returned the Battery and only Paid $149 for the SAW
My HD in South Texas is sold out of most of the holiday deals.
You’re basically demonstrating how to predict a recession.
not only the same but still to hiiiiiiiiiiiiiii if you are on a fixed budget and need the tools to do the job
Home depot got greedy. So sad. With Wally world on board, I'm hopeful for tariffs. If I'm paying these prices it needs to be made in the U.S.A..
Milwaukee and Dewalt cheaper at flea market 1/2 drive impact 150-200 with battery and bag and charger
If it all possible, wait until next year.
The Home Depot by me is low on Dewalt. The gift section is now down to one section from 4
Same deals over and over all year long. Fixed rotation…
A four pick set for $15 dude you used to be able to get them for two
Its just bad and repeated deals.
