Great review. This bike sounds perfect for a daily commute in an urban environment for any rider, even a fully experienced fully qualified rider of any sort. 4K to 5k would get you a pretty good selection of really nice ULEZ compliant bikes that would fit that bill…How much is one of these?
Hi Phil, brand new they’re bloody expensive at Circa £14k but there are discounts and incentives. If like me you’re commuting the reduced fuel bills and servicing costs off set the monthly cost of the up front purchase if financing as it’s likely to be available on 0% finance. If just for riding at the weekend it’s hard to justify that kind of expense. Not really seen many second hand ones come up for sale but when they do they offer a good reduction from the price of a new one.
@@swss yes I guess it’s down to economies of scale. Mass production at a similar rate to existing 125s would probably bring the price down to the same as other bikes, (between 4K and 7k) as the construction is simpler and far less moving parts to manufacture..
Modern Motorbikes are frighteningly fast, compared to Bikes 50 years ago. I passed my Bike Test in 1970, when 16 and could ride up to 250cc. Once passed there was no limit. I have not owned a bike for about 40 years, but did ride my brothers up until about 25 years ago. Recently a friend bought a BMW S 1000 RR, which has all the electric gizmos. ABS, Traction Control, Anti Wheel and what ever else, I got to ride it at a track day event, it was so quick, it was frightening and road legal.
Hi Alan, I also passed my test at 16 in 1970 so hello mate! I swapped to cars at the end of ‘71 and never looked back until five years ago when my lad got into bikes unexpectedly. I now have the bug again and as a retired engineer I ride daily and have a great gang of biker mates to socialise with! ( Golf is too boring!) 😁
What are the chances of getting insurance on this bike at 17? Every insurance company website doesn’t class the cc which I know is because there’s no displacement but when I enter the bike it says 60hp and doesn’t want to class it as a 125?
You’re looking at the wrong category. You should be looking at the ZF 11kW model. Not the 60 hp version. That said the chances of getting a sensible quote at 17 are not good It’ll be over £1k Try Lexham insurance
Every 125cc owner would get one of these only the price blocking them. What if any are the service costs? My A2 ICE bike adds about £200 a year for servicing on top of the fuel.
The servicing costs are negligible. Brake fluids and pads that’s it. No oil or clutch worries battery has 5 yr g’tee and good for 200k miles. But as I said it is expensive to purchase
It’s not particularly cheap, if you’re in the UK go to go compare or compare the market and get a quote but make sure you select the correct model alternatively phone Lexham insurance as you’ll probably end up there anyway!
@@swss Could you give me a rough estimated percentage increase, you have probably ridden a 125cc in recent years, was it maybe 50% more expensive to insure this? I'm still in two minds, considering the Vmoto Stash as well, could be cheaper to insure since it's not as powerful, and its 6k brand new.
@@zantesh to ensure the Zero would be circa £900 to £1000 if you haven’t passed your test. The Shash will be much cheaper to insure as it’s much less powerful.
@@swss Thanks for the informative prompt reply, still very tempted to get a Zero, got no claims for over a decade, but equally the stash will still greatly outperform my gsx s125 and if I wait a year I can get a nice used one for 4k. I only really do city riding, rarely touch 50mph, so maybe I don't need the extra power.
I was looking on Autotrader. New ones have been discounted down, the SR and SRF would be around £20k but they're much more powerful bikes than the S. I'm sure there are some cheaper secondhand ones on eBay, I haven't looked there. I'd want a dealer to check the battery out if it's out of warranty.
@@swss its a hell of alot of cash, that one for £5k would need checking out for certain most used ones were a few k more at least. Its just not economic to buy one especially used and potentially with unknown risks and problems.

But I do save about £2500 a year in fuel costs. If you can afford one most people love them, I always say take one for a test ride a make your own mind up.
They're just the same as most electric car companies, blocking out certain features behind a paywall when they're already available on the bike, they just need "unlocking" via a microtransaction. Essentially, ALL electric vehicles are a scam and as expected, the average thick-as-shit consumer is just paying it, so nothing will change.
Yammie Noob hates electric motorbikes, he said the on line store to unlock features on your bike with kit already fitted was a scam, things like a fee for activating things like the option for a reverse gear, heated grips etc, KTM have been doing it for years as have Tesla and I'm sure others will follow suit! The concept is you can unlock that feature whenever you want, you don't have to pay for the option at the time you purchase the bike. I can see both sides to the argument as you don't have to pay a dealer to fit upgraded tech to the bike. This only applies to the newer generation 3 models not the Zero S which is a gen 2 model and does not have unlockable features what you buy is what you get. You want heated grips you have to get them fitted. Personally I think Yammie Noob is a bit of c*%K, especially after the way he fired Spite, but he does have big following and his videos are entertaining.

Yup, every bit as much as the speed, gentle acceleration = greater range 👍
No its mostly the speed you go. I have a 2014 Zero SR, if you go 120kph it drains much faster than say 93kmh
The cheapest in the uk is £5k, with new ones going for £20k...
New ones go for circa £12-13 k
sold mine for just under £7k
