Excellent video! I have spent the last 5 year's railfaning Michigan's upper peninsula with a lot of time spent at Trout Lake. Not much has changed at Trout Lake. I have not seen any WC locomotive's for the last 2 year's. I love Upper Peninsula train's.
Interesting engines - short, but with the tractive effort of six axles and, from what I've read, not heavy locomotives. Perfectly suited for branchline service.
Those SDL39 engines were well suited on the former Duluth, South Shore and Atlantic's light rail lines just like the Milwaukee Road had light rail on its branchlines.
fepasa is the chilean railway that acquired the sdl39 from wc this is the only type of locomotive that it acquired from wc the others are sd39-2m that were built with locomotives gp-38 and gp-40 in NRE and finally sd40-2m that were built in Chile with BNSF sd40-2 locomotives, never acquired sd45
fmnut BTW if you wanted to know, Jennifer is my guardian saint or angel in heaven. On Sunday afternoon on May 15th, 1994, Jennifer went home to be with her Lord Jesus in heaven after she died from cardiac arrest due to choking on food at the Wendy's restaurant in North Riverside, IL.
Nice to finally find some footage of the SDL39s! love those little things.

I wonder if that chilian railway got sd 45's from the WC as well as the Sdl39's it's too bad CN didn't keep any of the WC motive power
+Andrew Bowe I don't think so.

Just imagine WC doing freight work on a line that was once owned by the DSS&A along with the former original Soo Line
wut kind of emd engines were they?
Cool video.
