Question though: Does the DOS wedge kill the BASIC program in memory if you get a directory listing using it? Might come in useful when the SuperCPU is disabled, because that also disables JiffyDOS with it. Might have to look for that test/demo disk...

No, the DOS wedge doesn't wipe out any BASIC program. I don't have a SuperCPU, so can't comment on if it would work normally, you'd have to test it.
It's also possible to select for filetype. $:*=P etc.
