I think as long as the children are well behaved it is a fine idea. I was also under the impression that these old Victorian cemeteries were built to be used like public parks. The dead don't care what goes on there its only for the living.
I used to play in the cemetery when I was little. We used to play hide and seek, "what's the time Mr wolf?", tag, I spy, etc. We used to pick some wildflowers (like dandelions, daisies, blossoms off low hanging branches and flowers from hawthorns etc) and place them on graves that didn't get visitors so they didn't feel left out. Take paper and crayons or graphite to do rubbings on the stones. Mostly if it had pretty engraved patterns. It was always rather peaceful. At the end of the day, as long as the kids aren't climbing on things or littering etc, I see no issue in playing in them. They're just slabs of stone at the end of the day. The person they're a marker for are long gone, especially in the older cemeteries that don't even have visitors anymore. 🤷🏻♀️
@DonnellOkafor-pd7yn you have just been reported for a threat of violence toward a child. The other person said absolutely nothing about disrespecting the graves in any way but now you clearly imply that you would use violence on a child and simply assume that if they are near your family members grave that they just must be defacing it. A screenshot has also been sent to my local law enforcement to find your local law enforcement
I definitely don’t think a cemetery is a place for an egg hunt, for one thing some of these older headstones are very unsteady and could be dangerous, and I feel it’s very disrespectful to the dead and their families. Thanks for the wonderful videos ❤
Depending on the age of the grave markers and the upkeep of every single grave. Seriously, a kid climbing on a heavy marker that isn’t well seated could cause damage to the stone and cause bodily harm to the children. A graveyard with flat stones might be safer. But using gravestones as a playground is disrespectful. Additionally, some faiths put coins on headstones. It would be sad to learn that children decided to pickup the coins because they aren’t aware of such traditions.
While I love the idea of kids involved in genealogy etc., The gravestones are not safe. There were a lot of broken and fallen ones. Unlevel ground too. I've heard of 2 deaths in the Chicago, Illinois (US) area, people getting killed by falling stones. Glad you are back!
never have understood people getting upset about a kid being in a cemetery. so they walk on a grave. it's not going to hurt the person that has passed. kids won't learn to NOT hang on the grave markers if someone doesn't teach them. used to be, the yards were treated as parks. people went and had PICNICS there. why not an Easter Egg hunt?
I just see a little 4 year old boy running smack into a headstone. No, not a good choice for an Easter egg hunt, despite the fact you really aren't supposed to have a whole bunch of fun in a graveyard. A bunch of kids leaving flowers peacefully at the graves to make the spirits happy to be remembered.
It’s not safe to have a bunch of kids there at once. They can damage headstones and get hurt. Plus it’s bloody creepy to have kids playing a few feet above rotting bodies.I say this as I grew up behind a cemetery and ode my bicycle in one and played on the grounds, however this stones were flat to the ground. These are upright.
Super video very interesting grave yard, things for and against letting children play amongst the memorial stones, great to see you back...and so interesting to know so much about the folk resting here
Egg hunt especially in the old section not only disrespectful but hazardous as old stones are prone to crumble and topple. Heard of more than one fatal incident of that sort.
Having any event at a cemetery tells me that the grounds are being well kept without desecration to the head stones. That’s just my observation and opinion
During the Victorian Era there were several cemeteries built here in the US and else wear with the idea that they were also to serve as recreational spaces/parks where people could come on the weekends and have a picnic and what not. It's a macabre idea to us now, but not to the Victorians. However, a cemetery is not quite the same as a church yard. Church yards have always been more solemn places. I have no issue with the idea but I can understand the community not being behind it if it's still an actively or recently actively used church yard.
Cool video Dan such a beautiful place. I think I'd be ok with an easter egg hunt going on as long as it was run appropriately. Rookwood cemetery here in Sydney Australia holds a yearly art exhibition in the grounds and they seem to be able to pull it off in a respectful manner. Some of the 'art' sucks but it is a nice way to get people to experience the cemetery without having to go through loss or bereavement.
Great to see you back Dan. It brought back some nice memories of my eldest son, now a man, when he was in the Cubs. Highlight of their local evening meets was when the doors of the church were opened, and out ran the young lads doing a lap of honour around the church and over the graves. No one got hurt and the vicar didn’t mind the boys having a bit of fun. I think Easter egg hunts would have been a brilliant idea then, and indeed now. Perhaps with crash helmets now for health and safety 😂
Years ago, families would pack a picnic, go to the cemetery and plant flowers, clean family stones. When TV hit homes, that went out the window. Kids used to play in cemeteries to deadly consequences. Stones sometimes are NOT secured and can fall on children and adults. I clean stones and make absolutely certain they are secure and straight. Any leaning stones, I keep away from them.
The village where I grew up, had a church and I used to walk through the short cut on my way home.....it had a pathway from one end to the other , and I'd cut through to get home and at night was always very quiet 🤫 never any other kids playing. But I guess the graveyard 🪦 isn't a playground it's for to rest the dead. ( Store the dead). That IT horror mask is horrible, Most graveyards 🪦 have a very old grave section - that's forbidden it's usually red flagged ⛳ graves are about 150 years old or more.
I think tours geared towards kids is a great idea. Especially with live actors in costume. LOL! Am egg hunt not a great idea. Hooray to the person trying to bring history and genealogy to the younger generations.
Fact!! We as adults have the understanding but children still believing in the Easter bunny will only play . Educate them about respect. I agree , it’s not a playground .
It’s definitely not safe for children but besides that it is disrespectful to have an egg hunt in a graveyard…. I never got a notification for this one I’m not sure what’s going on this was a very good one loved it❣️Missed you mister
I’m going to say this with much Respect for the cemetary/graveyard. I have an 8 yr old grandson & I did take him to Oconee Hill Cemetery here in Athens, Georgia. I think egg hunt not a good idea, most adults & therefore children don’t know how to Respect the graveyard & family members buried there. It’s up to parents learning and then teaching their children!! For example: watch where you step, a stone or marble or flowers, etc are accepted for Thinking about that person (maybe knowing or not)!! I think it is appropriate to take children while teaching traditions of respect but for kids at age of 7 to 8 yrs old!!
Great video Dan. Thank you so much for sharing. And the cemetery was very pretty. I think if the kids are supervised. I don't see a problem with the egg hunt at the cemetery.
You are lucky you got the old cadbury cream egg in aluminium wrapper, they come in plastic nowdays where i live and are a bit smaller (and they are more expensive as well) and i agree with you, cemetery are not really a ideal place for a egg hunt, so many things can go wrong... but im sure that idea came from good intention.
Rather poor taste to have an Easter Egg Hunt in a place where people bury their dead, mourn and grieve. Not to mention, how Unsafe for children to be scurrying around graves! What were they thinking? I am glad to see you back Dan, I hope all is well with you.
I got texted to do a job on easter and i didn't know it was easter that day but everytime i clean up and put clean clothes on someone either calls or will text wanting something done
nice to have a new video thanks,, the beautiful scenery and your laid-back way of talking is meditative in a way. Although a beautiful setting I don't think children over simulated with excitement with an Easter egg hunt would be a good idea especially with all that crumbling heavy stone everywhere
Ian Bruzzack was one of them!! He died November 4, 13 hrs ago. He had turned 16 in September. He wasn’t at my home. He was in my home 6 days before he died! He was so talented!! Skateboarding was one talent, piano, joking always!! The night 6 days before he died, he was at my home. Watching Law & Order and in PJs and he just sat with me!! Said he wanted to sit down with me and spend time with me!? Ok, I said, ya wanna talk about something? Nope, just sit with you!! He lasted 5 mins with me and then engaging with his friends which was my son and daughter and maybe 5 of their friends in home. He went to a new school, separated from his JROTC buddies, just separated.
Moving on, I Love Oconee Hill Cemetary❤ My Home as where all the kids came-safe place to play in backyard & talk or shout!! Kids started out from 4th-5th grade all the way thru high school and graduation from high school. Was a “helicopter” mom with all! Talked to their parents as well & their parents would know where they were. Just a bunch of kids playing board games, chit chatting, running in the yard with soccer ball or football, playing hide & seek in dark!!
Just for something for people to realize 6,000 impoverished Filipinos living in the Manila North Cemetery.. you can find interesting video about that, but there’s hundreds of children and babies and adults and grandmas living in the actual cemetery, madness to me, but a few kids playing Easter egg hunt seems fine also.. who knows, maybe the spirits of the dead are happy to see someone reading their stones, and even touching them ? peace to all !
Nice to hear you again. It makes me sad that all these dead no longer hear the sound of the birds. Or maybe it is? Very nice walk. If I were I child I wouldn’t want to look for Easter eggs in a cemetery. Martha
West Laurel Hill Cemetery in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania . Did Easter Egg Hunt. Back in March 19, 2016. If the people do the egg hunt, at the cemetery. They do this respectfully. I don’t see no problem. If parents allowed theirs kids disrespect the cemetery. That’ll be a problem.
Also, I think if parents took their kids to a cemetery and learned the “rules” of respect, there wouldn’t be disrespect to headstones and destruction of them!!
I see both ways but probably wouldn't want my children running around an old cemetery during an Easter egg hunt. Just my personal opinion, nothing against anyone else. 🐥♥️🌷
A graveyard is not a place for an Easter egg hunt. There's just something not right about it. But as for the Cadbury cream egg damn those are just delicious
Shame we have to attach doom and gloom to our burial sites. Mexico has the right idea, they have lovely celebrations like the day of the dead and beautiful colourful cemeteries.
Took my 8 yr old Grandson, Damari, there!! Teaching him respect!! Ian now has a Beautiful head stone!! I kept missing it cuz looking for the little funeral small marker!! And then there it was!!! An Actual headstone for Ian!! It is long and short, his parents are on both sides for the future. He has him on skateboard engraving!! His mom was a gardener & she has engraving of a gardener. His father was a photographer & he has his engraving too!! The most Beautiful Headstone I’ve ever seen!!
Hear in Texas we have some cemeteries that where Designed to be family oriented so after church you could go there and have a Picnic lunch and play games
An Easter Egg Hunt ????? These are the eternal resting places for people. Why in heaven's name would you bring children here for an Easter egg hunt! This is DISTURBING 😮
Babes & young children are hardest to see!! Heard something recently which is sad!! We die 2 times. First is actually dead and buried, second is when no one knows you anymore!!
I can understand why you would think its disrespectful but at the same time you'll be attracting new visitors. Reapecting the dead ultimately comes from how parents are teaching their children.
The way some of those stones are leaning, I think it would have been a bad idea to have children running around hunting eggs. There are stories of people being killed in graveyards by toppling stones. If they want to introduce children to genealogy, maybe a chaperoned tour with age-appropriate information could be done -- they could have people dressed in period clothing to tell the stories of some of the people buried there and history of the area.
My relatives in cemeteries loved children in life so I don't think they would have an issue, nor would I mind as it's a nice way to introduce the subject of death to children, it's just the health and safety side of things.
Anyways, a very sad story for a 16 yr old boy. I go to his grave often. It’s always been just the funeral home small plate!! Took my grandson there to show Damari how special Ian was!! He would have been another Uncle!! Damari has a lot of Uncles from all those kids that came to my home.
I think a cemetery would be a great place for them if it were let’s say a learning to read activity ex. A circuit where they would have to find x,y and z. It would train them to read different scripts. More points if they had to read and write the numerous names of possible other people buried in the same plots. But that would be an activity for 7-8yrs old. The little ones could be made to search for elaborate tombstones for ex.
I don’t think the interred would feel disrespected by having children’s little feet running around above them having fun. On the other hand, even a small stone, falling on a child would cause serious injury, or death. As a father, I would not be comfortable with my children, taking part in such a dangerous environment.
Kids running around in an old cemetery seems to me to be hazardous to both kids and monuments, and I totally understand people saying it is disrespectful to their ancestors. The person who dreamt up that idea wasn't thinking straight. Perhaps they could have had the egg hunt in the local museum, among all the precious and delicate glass and pottery - to teach them history of course! Saying that rushing about a cemetery looking for chocolate will teach them genealogy is a very weak excuse.
I think as long as the children are well behaved it is a fine idea. I was also under the impression that these old Victorian cemeteries were built to be used like public parks. The dead don't care what goes on there its only for the living.
Fantastic to see you back Dan. Beautiful churchyard, the bird song was amazing. Top job as always. 👏👏
I used to play in the cemetery when I was little.

They're just slabs of stone at the end of the day. The person they're a marker for are long gone, especially in the older cemeteries that don't even have visitors anymore. 🤷🏻♀️
If one were of the belief that the dead remain with us, then who knows, maybe they enjoy having children playing and leaving them innocent offerings.
thats very sweet.
To be fair if what you were doing is playing then I still play in graveyards😂 on the regular and many many other adults I know
aww that’s so cute ❤
😭❤️

So glad to see your back on utube. I enjoy your videos from the USA
Ditto that, beautiful cemetery, thank you!!!
Not only is it disrespectful, it is dangerous for the children.
Nice to know you're alive and well! Looking forward to your future cemetery visits.
Dan! Great to see you back! Yum, Cadbury Creme Egg...so sweet but so good. Thanks for another great walk.
I agree completely, a cemetery is an odd place to have an easter egg hunt. A park seems better.
To have an egg hunt in a final resting place is extremely disgusting and disrespectful, go do it in a woodland somewhere away from graves.
Welcome back Dan!
Hi from Italy!
More videos !! 😊
I definitely don’t think a cemetery is a place for an egg hunt, for one thing some of these older headstones are very unsteady and could be dangerous, and I feel it’s very disrespectful to the dead and their families. Thanks for the wonderful videos ❤

If they want teach children genealogy or history do so with a respectful tour not an egg hunt.
Kids would not be thinking of genealogy. They will just be running around causing mayhem and shouting. The primroses are gorgeous.
when i was 12 i wanted to go around fixing and cleaning broken forgotten graves until i was told its not legal
never have understood people getting upset about a kid being in a cemetery. so they walk on a grave. it's not going to hurt the person that has passed. kids won't learn to NOT hang on the grave markers if someone doesn't teach them. used to be, the yards were treated as parks. people went and had PICNICS there. why not an Easter Egg hunt?
Interesting cemetery. Lots of fancy headstones. I can see how it’s not a safe place for kids, though. Wonder who dreamed up that brilliant idea? 😊
Lovely to hear your calm voice narrating the beautiful visit once again 🎉.
Loved the video…beautiful cemetery.. I’ve missed your videos hope you had the best Easter take care
Personally I don’t think an egg hunt is really appropriate in a graveyard. As you say Dan I can see both sides but I’m siding on the no side.
Glad to see you back Dan. Have missed your videos. Thought I was missing them being posted. Was so glad when this one popped up. Love from Georgia USA

I would agree about danger aspect, but I don't believe the spirits would mind the kids having fun.

good to see you again love your videos 😁
Thank you for taking us along 👍
Having any event at a cemetery tells me that the grounds are being well kept without desecration to the head stones. That’s just my observation and opinion
I don’t think it’s particularly disrespectful, especially in an older cemetery but I do think safety would be an issue.
During the Victorian Era there were several cemeteries built here in the US and else wear with the idea that they were also to serve as recreational spaces/parks where people could come on the weekends and have a picnic and what not. In the US, there was a kid crushed by a headstone or monument that happened to fall on him, Carson Dean Cheney.
Cool video Dan such a beautiful place. I think I'd be ok with an easter egg hunt going on as long as it was run appropriately. Thanks Dan. Nice one and nice tribute for Cathy.
Would be nice if I can find out how her memorial tree is doing.
Yeah it would be nice to see it and to know if its near her
Great viseo mate, nice little graveyard/cemetery that 👍👍
I have been wondering about you! Enjoyed the video. That’s a nice tribute to Cathy ❤

Very lovely cemetery but maybe a guided tour with some responsible adults would be a better option for the children
Yes. And if @ Christmas the children could sing a song to brighten the hearts of any lingering spirits.
It’s definitely not safe for children but besides that it is disrespectful to have an egg hunt in a graveyard…. I never got a notification for this one I’m not sure what’s going on this was a very good one loved it❣️Missed you mister

Great video Dan. Thank you so much for sharing. And the cemetery was very pretty. I think if the kids are supervised. I don't see a problem with the egg hunt at the cemetery.
Lovely to see you back at it again. I love them cream eggs.
In Australia they are still in foil
@@Rocwallaby Lucky you, i know it sound stupid but i kinda think they tasted better when they were still in foil.
I would not have an Easter egg hunt in such a mournful solemn place.
Rather poor taste to have an Easter Egg Hunt in a place where people bury their dead, mourn and grieve. Not to mention, how Unsafe for children to be scurrying around graves! What were they thinking? I am glad to see you back Dan, I hope all is well with you.
Glad you’re back!! Hope the Cadbury egg was delish

nice to have a new video thanks,, the beautiful scenery and your laid-back way of talking is meditative in a way. Although a beautiful setting I don't think children over simulated with excitement with an Easter egg hunt would be a good idea especially with all that crumbling heavy stone everywhere

Cadberry crème my favorite too
Children don’t need to hanging out in a cemetery
About time you are back missed your vids dan
Not a good idea kids can be destructive….they will eventually be interested in cemeteries or not….
Beautifuls graves...beautiful trees..!👻🌲🎚️
Happy birthday Dayna🎉
I doesn't say Adam's family cemetery on it. I say no to kids doing an egg hunt. It's dangerous and disrespectful
Beautiful cemetry
Anyways, a very sad story for a 16 yr old boy. I go to his grave often. It’s always been just the funeral home small plate!! Took my grandson there to show Damari how special Ian was!! He would have been another Uncle!! Damari has a lot of Uncles from all those kids that came to my home.
Definitely not let’s keep something sacred
What a daft idea! Surely there are more appropriate places to hold a egg hunt, which will upset no one

Missed your videos! ❤😊
Definitely not a safe place for an egg hunt but I don’t see it as disrespectful. Welcome back! ❤
Looking forward to it I’m excited ❤
