Why do I like this so much. I'm late, its already dead. This sounds like every adult swim bumper for the last 6 years and music theyve suggested that I never checked out. "You may ask yourself....'Well, how did I get here?'..."
nah you got it all wrong. seapunk starts in the soul. it started before 0:00. take your age, make it negative, that is the beginning of this song. feel me?
Who's down with creating icepunk or somethin? I wanna feel like a melting iceberg in a world of unicorns and magical dolphins jumping through double rainbows of fire and ice explosions.
+ThePermanentMoose So? People who like rap get made fun of. People who like country get made fun of. People who like metal get made fun of. People who like trance get made fun of. Most humans tend to make fun of other humans with differing opinions, because they don't understand what opinions are or where they come from.
+ThePermanentMoose I don't see a difference. If I go to the trouble to make a movie, and people enjoy it, I actually made a good movie, regardless of what I thought I was doing. If people genuinely appreciate it, then the joke's really on me. Imagine I glue a quarter to the ground to prank people. Someone walks by and smiles, merely appreciating it as a sign of good luck because it's heads up, and keeps walking. Did I "get" that person? Edit: LOL I just re-read your comment. I thought you said "I just don't like the idea..."
The base of vaporwave. Even if seapunk is very different fronte vaporwave because vaporwave Is a genre that wants to search into Dreams world or wants Just to troll. Seapunk has the purpose of recreating a Sea feeling or to troll too. vaporwave Is a bigger genre than seapunk so sometimes People dont understand the difference. Peace
wish I could listen to this without thinking of the psychotic break I had back in early 2020 (when the pandemic started) that was intensified by me smoking pot every single day - this was my soundtrack to that :]
My ex girlfriend and I were inside of FYE one time and she was telling me about her undying love for seapunk, then this one guy came up to us, well her, and started talking about his favorite seapunk bands. After rambling on, he said he was the nephew of Marilyn Manson's best friend. Most interesting FYE trip yet!
how come seapunk became a genre but my genre of distorted 808 kicks taken from powernoise, breakcore, digital hardcore, gabber, and hardstyle but in 80s latin freestyle , miami bass and electro patterns and on rare occasions getting overly wonky like reggae-ish IDM with unnecessary psychedelic space rock, gothic post punk and van Halen solo inspired guitar parts didn't?
When I inagined seapunk, I imagined electronic music just sampling lots of ocean sounds. Like "Blue Whale Song (remix)" by DJ Purple Dolphin or something like that. I'm disappointed to find out it's just another unnecessarily labeled (but still interesting) microgenre of Electronic Music. Can we all just stop trying to sound musically intelligent and deep and obscure and just admit that in the 21st century there ARE no such things as entirely new genres anymore. With the internet and social media, as soon as any new genre or culture is created somwhere, it is immediately absorbed into a larger group or sound. Back "in the day" maybe, when communites were more isolated from each other, people created music from the sounds they heard around them and made new music and new genres that way, but now that we have Yotube and Soundcloud and Facebook and (5000 other social media shits), the whole world has kinda become a world community now. It's essentially impossible to do anything entirely "new" anymore, so let's stop trying because it sounds pretentious and dumb at this point.
+Yolis Bortin I agree with this. As good as this music can be, it's not much "sea" about this. You could as well just call it psychedelic house, trip hop, or avant garde electronica, it would work just as well. The part of the music that I suppose could reference to water is the slowness and relaxant vibes, the reverb, the echo, and the various kinds of percussive instruments that seem to be connected to water in popular culture, like water levels in video games and nature films and stuff. But if I just heard this music on the radio I wouldn't automatically think, "oh, the music sounds kind of watery because it's reverby and percussive". It's just good relaxant electronic music basically. A lot of the tracks bare a lot of resemblance to vaporwave and the contemporary elevator kind of music. It's just more upbeat. Lots of great music here none the less.
Tonefield is literally a new genre, its what happens when people get ALL the characteristics that form the painting genre called colorfield painting and convert all them to musical characteristics, using logic skills, music theory skills and painting theory skills, then doing song with all those characteristics. This label is one tonefield label wavelength2.bandcamp.com/ In the end the sub-genre works is basically like this: 1- The song start with a silent part with 1 second (or more) or with a tone a tone with 1 second or more (tone must have same waveform, frequency and amplitide during its entire lenght) 2-Song ends or continue with with a new silent part with 1 second (or more) or with new a tone a tone with 1 second or more (tone must have same waveform, frequency and amplitide during its entire lenght) 3-Go back to 2.
What's with these fad micro genres? It's like someone makes up a word, and a few defining points, usually about obscure shit from the 90's then a bunch of people on Soundcloud crank out junk they think fits and slap the fancy new label on it. Some people hop on photoshop and make a look for it and BAM, we have a new "genre". Just like "witch house"
SumHandballPlayer it's not necessarily bad. It's entertaining at least and gives us stuff like "Simpson Wave" UA-cam videos. I guess I just appreciate genres that come about organically or via a cultural movement.
I always come back to this mix year after year. I've really grown up with it. I have a mp3 file of this on like every phone I've owned in the past 6 or 7 years.
is this what er... kids listen to nowadays? hip hop minimal techno post-mtv avant garde synthwave trashy but luxury fancy fartsy absurdist brickolage mashup glitch pop coco-pops... music?
Why do I like this so much. I'm late, its already dead. This sounds like every adult swim bumper for the last 6 years and music theyve suggested that I never checked out. "You may ask yourself....'Well, how did I get here?'..."
I was in the blue again, All my money was gone, I was letting the days go by and letting the water hold me down
I was expecting pirates playing punk rock but this is cool too
Pirate rock is a catagory too.
It's crazy how one Genre can come and go for one and be considered dead only to become what someone else has been looking for
It’s definitely going to/already is a a hidden source of influence on Melodies for some future genres
even if seapunk is dead, it still has major appeal.

i like this, but i cant shake the creeping feeling that the people who made it are all laughing at me and calling me a fuccboi.
Hahaha

AndroidDoctorr yeah i get that, i just like the idea that the very people who made the music itself are laughing at me for liking it.
+ThePermanentMoose I don't see a difference. If I go to the trouble to make a movie, and people enjoy it, I actually made a good movie, regardless of what I thought I was doing. If people genuinely appreciate it, then the joke's really on me.

So... seapunk has nothing to do with the sea.
Norwegian Chill or punk!
Or punk. :(
Kinda sorta not really
has to do with extaSEA
what would make you think music would ever have anything to do with the sea
i'm not too far in but i really like how this starts out. i enjoy it's slow progression into more traditional seapunk

There's nothing particularily "sea" about this music.
yeah not the water sounds or dolphin sounds and the fact the dj recorded by the ocean. nothing sea at all.
I was starting to think that this reminded me of death grips and a minute later I hear mcride
Sounds like something they would play in starbucks. #hipster

Uuuhm. Okay. Usually I try not to be that guy, but those tones sucked tbh. That wasn't pleasant in any way, at all.
Soon everything will be the same.
i do not consider this seapunk, i consider seapunk to use more ocean sea animal noises (dolphin chirps, bubble noises etc.)

Whats the tracklist??
Seapunk is stupid and so am I
!!! who did the remix of ponponpon ??
The remix was done by Seablaze, they're a powerhouse in the Seapunk scene really.
What's with these fad micro genres? +Sam Chaney why is that a bad thing? I for one enjoy witch house and other genres that don't get as big as other genres
Most of these microgenres do tend to spawn from a concept or fashion design.
SumHandballPlayer it's not necessarily bad. It's entertaining at least and gives us stuff like "Simpson Wave" UA-cam videos. I guess I just appreciate genres that come about organically or via a cultural movement.
