Alright lad i gotta say this, you make a fantastic youtube channel im 21 ive been watching all sorts of videos since i was a little kid and you really know how to put a video from the perfect level of information and the way it is given. So helpful you truly are a natural 👍
We rescued a little black puppy at 12 weeks without ability to meet either parent and we're coming to understand that she's definitely part German Shepherd which is a first for me as a handler. (Probably some Husky and maybe black lab and Catahoula - mega mutt!) Her alarm barking is EXACTLY what you're describing; she doesn't trust me to finish the job that she started by sounding the alarm. You've nailed it that some restructuring of the relationship is in order before she gets any older (9 months now). Will definitely be following and watching more!
Thank you SO much for this!! I want my GSD to alert and do his job, but I don't want it to go on too much, and most of the training info is about stopping barking altogether, and isn't helpful for me. Thank you!
Currently watching as my GSD will wonder around the yard and bark at the clouds and birds flying 🤣🥲 and when I tell her no barking she whines like a toddler hahaha
My grandparents only got a shephard because he "likes them". Now after 3-4 yrs, they wanna get rid of her after not letting me train her. I am getting a new place soon and if i can have her im taking her in and properly training her.
My German Shepard is 7 months old and he does bark in the home but it’s what is acceptable. However, he is now barking at every person and animal he sees when we are out. How do I stop this type of unwanted barking?
Mine talks about everything! Alert barking is ok when he stops for me. But he will still whine and talk while waiting to greet. Car barking off the hook.
Great video Will. Can you do a video on teaching a GSD how bark on command? I live in Portland, Oregon where serious changes have occurred in how people act with each other since the pandemic. To the point where people seem to think a gun is the only answer. I am not interested nor can I afford the instructions for teaching my dog as a full protection dog. However, if I can teach my GSD to simply bark with the command "watch 'em" it is my hope that it would be enough to back up an aggressive panhandler or druggie looking for a quick fix long enough to end that engagement and walk away..Your thoughts?
All my 4 month old GSD does is bark nonstop at the back door (sadly in an apartment for a month or two) all day and night. I try to explain that everythign is okay and thats enough but he insists on barking like crazy! lol
Thanks for the info! Loving all your channels from the great state of Michigan. We will be getting our GSD in the coming spring (if not sooner but don't tell my wife that is possible). I am super excited to get our puppy but I have a question for you. I am a very experienced owner and have trained all my dogs in obedience. How do you best train non-dog owners/novice dog owners to be good pack leaders? My wife is getting there but others still need help. What about our young children, we have three boys 4 yrs old and 1 1/2 years old. How do I best train them to handle the dog and be good pack leaders?
Had a rottie for 10.5 years and he only barked at the doorbell or someone knocking. He was just always like that. I have an 8 month old GSD female now and she barks if she sees someone 4 houses away lol. Definitely want to get on top of this before she gets too used to doing behavior like this. She also isn’t the best at meeting people. Super reactive and wants to rush to them. When she gets there she leans on them and wants petted and usually ends up peeing. So it’s not like she’s attacking, but she needs to get more manners for sure.
Omg! My 14 week GSD pees soooo much!! During greetings and play time we might as well keep a towel around because he will pee lol. It’s very frustrating
@@markeisharobinson6437 yea my brother came over last Saturday to watch the ufc fights and I was going to take her outside, he goes to pet her in the kitchen and she pees on the floor... I really hope she grows out of this soon
i have a 6 month old and his bark is so loud he isn't fully grown yet and his voice is already too loud I'm weary of the day he get's his "grown" voice and when he starts barking it goes on and on...good thing he stops on command
Hello I have moved from 250 acres where there was no dogs at all for my boy to be reactive to to 1/2 acre and any time he sees a dog on any side of the house he goes nuts what do u suggest if the dogs are out of sight he’s calm
I am curious how you stop a GSD from barking as if it is a police dog barking at a criminal when she wants her GSP sister to play. Or barks at the GSP because I am now outside in the yard with them. She gets in her face and barks with her teeth bared like she is picking a fight. If she sees me coming to stand in between them (facing her) and staying in front of her with a calm presence, she will stop. I walk away she begins again.
I don't like my dog barking but I did not get my German Shepherd because of that I got her for protection but she do barks a lot even though it's annoying But I need her to stop barking because she barks at anything babies neighbors mailman's people complaining next door I don't have a problem with her barking it's just everybody else does And she's only 4 months so I'm trying to learn to train her to have obedience and listening skills cuz you don't listen to me only when I have treats 😂
After my GSD learned what was normal she never reacted, however, if it weren't normal.......well you were stupid to try to git too close. Yup, live in a kinda rural area. Not many visitors........😉! She was a good girl.
German shepherds were not bread to be loud mouths They were bred and created originally to be smart intelligent and kill and when I mean kill I mean wildlife that attacks the livestock on the farm or anything on the farm so they're actually guardian heard dogs Don't know if I worded this right but like I said they're not bred to be loud mouths
I think that some show and tell would have been better than just talking. I dont feel that you actually thought how to stop barking. just a lot of talking. Felt a lot like whyd you get a GSD , calm down you can teach your dog that youre the leader and oh i have a course you can enroll in it. Followed by increase its exercise. I got nothing our of this video.

Thank you can you post your “place” training video?
Btw the video description says “Doberman” :)
Thanks for the feedback!
Please upload here real training rather than theory
Thank you
@@angelleinmyheart there is a separate channel in the description that has training videos

German Shepherds weren't "created", as far as I know.
