- it me freddy. back with more comic readthroughs. today's read is a super good one which i had a pretty exciting time diving into it and making this video. we have the first issue of 6 and we follow edward nashton's slippery spiral into the soon to be riddler. this acts as a prequel to the batman.

I like how Riddler sees Batman as just a suit and cowl with no face. Like he cares so little about who Bats is under there that he physically doesn’t perceive his face at all.
This comic is so dark but good. Your humorous narration helps me get through it 😂

Paul dano did a better job of makijg me care for riddler qnd batman than even matt reeves while not contradicting the story. Paul dano knows how to write a comic and he truly appreciates the unappreciated art form it is

Hi Freddy! This has actually been done before, and in the DC universe to boot; John Barrowman, who plays Malcolm Merlyn (aka The Dark Archer, Oliver Queen's nemesis) wrote a comic book back in 2016 that serves as a backstory to his character, who is the Big Bad of the first season of *Arrow* ...
That comic books series lasted 12 issues, and included his backstory, plus some additional content that took place between the seasons 3&4 of *Arrow* , with drawings done by the talented Daniel Sampere.
It was pretty damn good, and since it was back when *Arrow* was still good (it peaked with season 5 IMHO), it was welcomed content.
... oh, and of course the next one isn't a backstory, but DC wise it's worth mentioning that in 2021, Danny DeVito wrote a Penguin/Catwoman short comic book story that serves as a weird sequel to the Burtonverse.
It doesn't meet your requirement, but I thought it was nice to see more actors getting more involved in their DC characters... the Riddler, the Penguin, the Dark Archer...

Actually surprised that this comic is solid
forreal tho. this could've easily been a half assed cash grab attempt at profiting off of the character and ideas established from the movie, but instead it turned out to be a 10. here's hoping that the other 5 issues come thru just as good.

@@evilzdeadite I agree with that. It would be the most unsuspected character arc that is definitely worth seeing. One issue in and I can already tell that I will like it more than most (if not all) comics I've read recently.

Part 2 dropped yesterday. I'm going to be picking up that issue in the next couple of days, and then i will be working on that video next week.
