- While most people only know the big popular albums because of the hits, it doesn’t mean the lesser known unpopular albums don’t have a lot going for them. I’m someone who is often attracted to the less popular albums and have gathered together some of my favorites to share with you.

I love your videos about unpopular albums! I am more intrigued to listen to albums that flew under the radar than the ones with all the radio hits. Keep puting out this kind of content!!
Your content is very creative. I don't always agree with your musical opinions but I like your efforts into your channel. Your hard work shows. Now a subscriber.
Thank you for both the kind words and for your support. I’m glad to hear the effort is noticed and appreciated.
Great White’s Sail Away is fantastic.
I play " living in the usa" every 4th of july. Even if the song portrays a cynical USA. Momma Don't Stop and AllRight are good too. Overall, the album had too many ballads or interludes, to be tops in their discography, but some of it was killer. WPLR in Connecticut played the title cut a lot back in 94. They were the only station that touched it as a new release. "If ever I saw" was released as a single mid 95, and it started to get a little airplay
Great vid!! Totally agree with your choices. In addition to those here are a few I always go to
Aerosmith- Rock In A Hard Place
Black Sabbath - Cross Purposes
Cinderella - Still Climbing
Alice Cooper - Raise Your Fist
Def Leppard - On Through The Night
Dokken - Erase The Slate
Europe - Wings of Tomorrow
Judas Priest - Demolition
KISS - Asylum
Megadeth - Youthanasia
Poison - Native Tongue
Quiet Riot - QR
Slaughter - Back To Reality
Tesla - Bust A Nut
Twisted Sister - Live Is For Suckers
WASP - Still Not Black Enough
Y&T - Contagious
AC DC’S Rock or Bust was great for me too. Saw the tour for this album and loved it live! Thanks for the interesting video to see what else was on your list.
Always a pleasure to hear you. The unpopular favorites are the best! :-) My top 3 : U2 - Pop ; Metallica - St Anger ; Bruce Springsteen - Human Touch.
st anger is a good choice because all those songs sound really good live
Quiet Riot with Paul Shortino singing is the one album I really like by QR.
My favorite from them.
Great idea for a video! I still spin that Britny Fox album regularly. Let It Rock and New Tattoo are also very underrated.
Great White is my all time favorite band. I love Let it Rock!!!! I saw them on this tour (small clubs) and they were great. I remember they played "Hand on the Trigger". Just an awesome album all the way around. An album to look at that you did't mention would be Whitesnake "Forevermore". Definitely a top 3 album for the Snake.
I love Can’t Slow Down as well and what’s more, Mr. Moonlight, Lou Gramm’s last album, which got no love, is a beast of an album!
I put Sail Away as one of my top GW albums, I do agree with you on Enuff's Animals WHI, love that one. That Night Ranger album is excellent as well.
Just discovered that Britny Fox album (Bite Down Hard) and man do I REALLY enjoy it! I figured it had to be a classic of the Hair Metal Genre it's so good!
Six Guns Loaded is such a good opening track, and Zakk Wylde's solo? Beautiful!
Definitely going to check some of these out Brendon! Especially Blackfoot and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Thanks for the insight! I had never heard of either of those albums!
Paul McCartney & Wings- Back to the Egg. People seem to crap on that album or rank it about mid in the catalogue, I think its great, some of my favourite McCartney/Wings songs like Getting Closer, Spin it on, To You, Old Siam Sir, After the Ball / Million Miles, Winter Rose / Love Awake.
Old Siam Sir and Spin It On are about as rocking as Paul ever got. Getting Closer and Arrow got a little bit of airplay, but shouldve been bigger. I love that album
Also like the Rockestra Theme.
Wings' best album, far as I'm concerned!
@davidl570 a various artists album called Concert for Kampuchea has Rockestra Theme
@@jasonpp1973 a various artists album called Concert for Kampuchea has Rockestra Theme
Of the ones, I've heard, I agree. Good listens. Here are a few albums I enjoy that are generally held in low regard:
. Survivor - Caught In The Game
. Kansas - Drastic Measures
. Styx - Kilroy Was Here
. Triumph - Edge Of Excess
. The Rossington Collins Band - This Is The Way
. KISS - Hot In The Shade
. Renaissance - Timeline
. Yes - Heaven & Earth
. Fleetwood Mac - Behind The Mask
. Molly Hatchet - The Deed Is Done
More of this, Brandon! Please!
Another fantastic collection of cd what comeing out soon I just brought the new def leppard cd it amazing keep collecting🎸🎸💿💿📀📀📀📀📀📀📀
That Foreigner and Meat Loaf are really good, thanks for a great video!
'Bite Down Hard' was and is a fantastic album. Arguably the best album Britny Fox put out. I agree, every song is pretty much perfect and by all rights it should have gone platinum. If it had come out in say, '87-'88 with the right promo campaign behind it, it would have.
Very good Brendon I think you good make this a series and it a bit different
Slaughter " revolution" from 1997. They were going early 70s glam. Check out " american pie". Nobody even knows this album exists, yet i like it just as much as Stick it To Ya
Agreed. Great album.
My personal fave is Fear No Evil from the Slaughter catalogue
I loved Stick it to Ya! But will check this particular album. I love 70's style.
Crūes New tattoo is a great album specially when driving around town. My pick for a album overlooked would be Kiss, Animalize
So I remember never really liking AC/DC Rock or Bust but thanks to I pulled it out again and am really enjoying it. Thanks for everything you do to help me keep up with old and new music.
Billy Idol " kings and queens of the underground" from 2014. Best album he EVER did. Check out " postcard from the past" to get a glimpse
motley - swine
danger danger - 4 the hard way
skid row - subhuman race (probably in my top 3 albums of all time)
warrant - belly to belly vol 1
but my favorite "hated" album...
def leppard - slang. that album is legendary amongst my friends. every song is brilliant. love it.
Totally agree about “ Slang “ love it as well. Every song on it are excellent.
Yeah, Slang doesn't deserve all the hate it gets! Save that for the overrated Adrenalize.
Great to see some love for that Meat Loaf album. Some great songs on there. Sailor To A Siren, Cheating In Your Dreams are excellent.
Thanks for sharing. Popular doesn’t always mean great music. The Archie’s had a #1 song so… I love the Who albums with Kenny Jones on drums. Face Dances and It’s Hard. Not as good as their stuff with Moon but still some excellent songs on both. Enjoy the music and rock on!
The Archies actually released 5 studio albums of brilliant Bubblegum pop!😮 And Sugar Sugar is the perfect pop tune!
@@thomasmarthinussen8978 Produced by Don Kirshner.
Those two Kenny Jones albums are way better than Endless Wire.
@@jasonpp1973 Thats right!👍
Love your music room, man . I just wish all those cd's were vinyls 😁
Love that Britny Fox album. Every song rocks! Good choice! Love Blackfoot but haven't heard Medicine Man - will have to check that out! Love that DIO album - Tracy G.'s guitar style fits with Angry Machines. Strange Highways is my favorite DIO album (sorry) - every song kicks you up the backside and is angry.
Dokken’s Hell to Pay is another one I revert back to on a regular basis. This came out about 2004 and like many of the other 80’s era bands, it was released on a small label and got little to no promotion or distribution. The bad artwork notwithstanding, I love this entire album and it helped me get through Statistics class in my MBA program, that’s how good it is IMO!
Great video. Very original content on the channel as others have said.
The Foreigner album is so underrated, the track When It Comes To Love is one of my favourites by the band.
Very cool and interesting vid 🤘
I didn't know there could be a BAD AC/DC album... like them or love them, they all sound the same to me (which for them is a good thing)
Great topic! Off the top of my head ...Reload by Metallica, Lulu by Lou Reed / Metallica and Black Sabbath's Technical Ecstasy. I also love BOC's Mirrors which everyone seems to hate for some weird reason!
I LOVE Mirrors! Their best one, IMHO.
@@davidl570 Nice one! Great taste!😁
new tattoo is a killer motley album. dig the hell out of it.
megadeth's 13, world needs a hero, and so far so good, so what all get entirely too much hate. they're so damn good.
Eric Clapton August album is my all time favorite by him on his solo career. Unpopular opinion but it’s a guilty pleasure
Thank you Brendan, fantastic choices totally agree with 7 of your picks and deffo will check out Meatloaf,Blackfoot, Night Ranger and 1991. I would like to add Loverboy Just Getting Started cd which I think is their best. Brilliant video thanks.
I agree with you on medicine man by Blackfoot…what a great cd,even the stealer cover is kick ass..
As a huge Foreigner fan, I was there the night Can’t Slow Down was released at Walmart. I agree with you that the album is severely underrated in spite of the absence of Lou Gramm, but it sits above Inside Information, Mr. Moonlight and Unusual Heat, although I think Unusual Heat is a great Johnny Edwards record. Having said that, Too Late, In Pieces, and When it Comes to Love are the three standout tracks on Can’t Slow Down.
Kansas-Drastic Measures- I think it sold well at the time but most Kansas fans seem to rate it rather poorly. I like it a lot. It’s got “Everybody’s My Friend”, “Fight Fire With Fire”, and one of my favorites-“Incident on a Bridge”. I also always liked Dio-Angry Machines!
Sword. Metalized one of my favorite from 1986.
I love britny fox’s bite down hard and great white’s let it rock and skid row’s thick skin. I listen to those albums quite often
I figured the self titled Corabi Motley album would have been your pick. So many people hate it it’s my top 3 in their catalog
Easily their best SOUNDING and structured album
I just picked up Thickskin. Sounds pretty good
I love both Let It Rock and Skynyrd 91. They're pretty solid all the way through. I actually love all of the Skynyrd albums with Johnny on vocals.
Wow just great albums don't listen to that often but I will these days specifically Dio ,and Foriegner , Great White .
Bad attitude I think it’s a great album by Meat Loaf. I found the CD in a store and was so excited later I was able to get the record.
He’s my favorite artist. I’ve seen him 27 times I saw him on his last tour in Kingston, New York front row center that was such an amazing concert, even though he didn’t sound so good. He never toured it again after that he got his voice back a few months before he tragically died.
I found that Lynyrd Skynyrd 1991 CD on eBay and ordered it as well as the great white 1996 album on cassette. This is a great series Brendan. You should do another one.
I love Let it Rock! My World is one of my all-time favorite Great White tunes! I think the song and album are generally not as well received by Great White fans but I dig the drop D tuning and more stripped down production. Just a fun album that seemed to fit with the times (1995).
I loved and still play Meatloaf's "Bad Attitude". "Piece of the action", the Roger Daltrey duet with "Bad Attitude", John Parr's "Don't leave your mark on me". Loved the Fairlight and modern sound. "Blind before I stop" also had it's moments too
I think the song The Razors Edge on Midnight at the lost and found is one of his best tunes as well!
Great picks! I have tons of favorite unpopular albums too! Some of mine are
Aerosmith - Just Push Play
Bon Jovi - Bounce
Collective Soul - Blender
Def Leppard - Songs From the Sparkle Lounge (my personal favorite Def Leppard album!)
KISS - Monster
Led Zeppelin - In Through the Out Door
Metallica - Load/Reload
Pearl Jam - Backspacer
Ratt - s/t
Rush - Test For Echo
Skid Row - Revolutions Per Minute
Twisted Sister - Love Is For Suckers
Van Halen - Balance
Warrant - Ultraphobic
The Sweet's "Waters Edge" lp is my absolute favorite from them.
"Club Ninja" Got Me into BOC! I am a Cultist for Sure, and this is their Most Underappreciated Albums of All Time, & I LOVE IT!
Sadly any enuff znuff record is under appreciated. I agree with Quiet Riot 3 as being awesome. Thanks for mentioning Brittney Fox "Bite..." just bought it today after streaming on youtube. Sounds great.
Black sabbath-never say die is great, so is deep purple-come taste the band 🙂
Love both of these
@@phillyupstart9200 they are very underrated albums imho. But, hey, we have taste 👍
Come Taste might be me fave DP album, great Coverdale vocals,
The first one that comes to mind is The Smashing Pumpkins - Adore (1998)
Looking forward to that NR book as they have a number of underrated albums. My personal choice would be Somewhere in California, but there are many.
I love the later Blackfoot albums starting with this one.
Dio - Strange Highways, love that album with Tracy G. too. 😁🌿🔥
Meat Loaf "Bad Attitude", such an underrated gem. Some others:
Night Ranger "Big Life"
Great White "Cant Get There From Here"
Journey "Arrival"
Iron Maiden "The X Factor"
Black Sabbth "The Eternal Idol"
White Lion "Mane Attraction"
Warrant " Dog Eat Dog"
Big Life is my favorite album from Night Ranger- love that band!🇨🇦
I rather enjoyed the “ baseball theme” on the ACDC ROB album. My favorite team ( KC Royals) we’re in the playoffs when this track was released and played at commercial breaks during one of their games. Plus it was a great tour and KC was BJs last show before the band switched to Axl and I was there!
Blackfoot Medicine Man is one of my favorites.
Rock or bust is sorely underrated. All killer no filler.
Buckcherry Time Bomb . It was their second record , and didn’t build on the success off their debut . They would end up in Japan and where they would piece together 15 and blow up again . Listen to Time Bomb , it’s incredible as good or better than 15 . I agree with New Tattoo , Punched In The Teeth , New Tattoo , Hollywood Ending, that cover of White Punks On Dope .
I always enjoyed the album 'Drama' by Yes. I catch alot of grief by some friends of mine who were big Yes fans.
Motley Crue's Corabi album is one of my all time favorites and so much despised by most people!
I really enjoy the album "The Turn" by the band Live that came out in 2014. It featured three of the original members with new vocalist Chris Shinn. It was produced by Jerry Harrison. Jerry was a member of the band Talking Heads. The band had worked with Jerry previously ( he produced their mega selling album "Throwing Copper") and he did a fantastic job of producing this. I like every song.
I'm a big Kenny Wayne Shepherd fan and this makes me think of his 2004 release of The Place You're In. It was more of a rock album and he did most of the lead vocals. It was a little out of his wheelhouse and not all sung by his lead singer Noah Hunt. All in all it was a solid release but not well received.
Black Crowes By Your Side and Warpaint.
By Your Side is an absolutely incredible album!👊🍻
Great call- By Your Side is awesome!🇨🇦
All great choices some of my favorites.
Good to see Meat Loaf’s Bad Attitude some love. His 80s stuff gets ignored but there are some great tracks on this and his voice around this time was strong! The live shows from this era are superb check the bootlegs out online.
For that Night Ranger album - I think the history surrounding it took away from people giving it a fair listen. Mojo has a cool melodic and dark energy that feels in step with Man in Motion.
AC/DC Rock or Bust is a perfect album. It was awesome. Every song is just great. Quiet Riot album with Paul Shortino was an absolute classic hard rock record. The album is a drop the needle and run it through to the end. If it wasn't named Quiet Riot it would have fared better. The media wouldn't promote QR at that point. Remember that time frame well. That Foreigner Cant Slow Down record is a perfect album. As good as any record Foreigner made. All the songs are catchy. Should have sold 5 Million records. Motley Crue New Tattoo is great. I still listen to that album all the way through today. I like that its not as polished. Every Night Ranger album is pure classic. My favorite NR unknown album is Seven. Mojo would be my second favorite unknown album. NR is my favorite band of all time.
Some that immediately come to mind:
Quiet Riot, 1988. Easily my favorite of theirs and a masterclass in bluesy hard rock.
Tesla - Bust A Nut. A killer album, and arguably their ballsiest.
Pearl Jam - No Code. Many if their best songs are here.
Testament - Practice What You Preach. Far and away their strongest collection of songs. Songwriting that propelled them to the big leagues.
Dio - Angry Machines. Not his best but such a killer album. 1000x better than either “Lock Up” or “Magica”.
Dokken - Dysfunctional. One of the few examples of a reunion album that’s as good as the classic era.
Kiss - Asylum, Animalize, Hot In the Shade, and everything after Revenge. All crush for various reasons yet get slagged.
Lock Up The Wolves and Magica are both awesome.
@@Retro_Man_76 “Awesome”? Solid albums but arguably his weakest efforts since the Elf days.
Loverboy- just getting started album 2007, really good album
Couldn't agree more-JGS is an AWESOME album!🇨🇦
Britny fox is their best album and QR is also my favourite from them
Good assemblage of not so popular recordings. My 5 are " Mardi Gras" by CCR, " The Kinks Present a Soap Opera", " St. Anger" by Metallica, " VH III" by Van Halen and " Nine Lives" by Aerosmith. Not many hits or radio plays from a lot of these albums, but there is something that has me heading to play these.
I gravitate to the “unpopular” albums for the same reason. It’s the stuff that never gets played live or on radio.
My list:
Aerosmith - Rock In A Hard Place
Poison - Native Tongue
Tesla - Shock
Warrant - Ultraphobic
rock in a hard place literally has my favorite song by Aerosmith on it lol
Great album to me there's nothing wrong with it 🤟rock or bust I mean
I have the blackfoot cd
My Unpopular-But-I-Still-Luv-It list:
KISS- The Elder (1981)
BAD RELIGION- Into the Unknown (83)
ALICE COOPER- Lace & Whisky (77)
MOTLEY CRUE- Theater of Pain (85)
BLACK SABBATH- Born Again (83)
THE DAMNED- Music For Pleasure (77)
LOU REED- 1st solo album (71)
MOTORHEAD- Another Perfect Day (83)
Favorite albums from bands:
Rush - Counterparts
Kiss - Carnival of Souls
Iron Maiden: Book of Souls
Pink Floyd: Obscured By Clouds
Aersomith: Honkin' On Bobo
Obscured by Clouds has grown on me, still think the weird singing on the last track is quite strange though.
Then of course, the next album would be paydirt!
I got the Honkin on Bobo cd that came with a harmonica keychain!
I agree with you on Let it Rock. Under rated. To bad you can't find it on Spotify..
Brighton Rock: Young, Wild and free. We Rock !!!!!
I have a hidden Motley gem but it's the 94 record with Corabi,I think it's just an amazing album top to bottom and their most well written record by a mile
my favourite AC/DC album is let there be rock but 2 that i really like and dont get much love are Blow up your video, love the track Two's up and heatseeker and That's the way i wanna rock n' roll and ruff stuff is great. I also love Ballbreaker ,Hail ceaser, caught with your pants down , boogie man, burning alive and ballbreaker are great tracks.
Also love No prayer for the dying, my favourite tracks are fates warning and mother russia , i also really like Virtual XI, sure some of the repetition need trimming down a bit but futureal , lightning strikes twice, the clansman, como estias amigo and my favourite Two worlds collide are awesome songs, by the way i don't hate Angel and the gambler, needs a bit of a trim but its a catchy song otherwise.
Ballbreaker was HUGE back in 1995-96 when it was new. I don't recall it ever being a bashed or underrated album. Nothing like Blow Up Your Video or Fly On The Wall.
I love "Restless Heart" by Whitesnake as an unpopular album
Deep Purple - Bananas
Queen - Made in Heaven
Genesis - We Can't Dance
Journey - Trial by Fire
Marillion - Radiation
Love 'em all !!
I love Made In Heaven, but Queen have a lot of unpopular great albums. Queen2 wasn't popular to the general public but is a masterpiece.
I am not really sure how someone could have an unpopular AC/DC album - as they are the same sound. I like them all!!
Rock or Bust is the only Ac/dc album I don’t own. I remember everyone said it sucked im gonna have to get it. I do love Fly on the Wall a lot 🔥🔥🔥
I'm a big lifelong AC/DC fan. I discovered them back in 1977. Rock or Bust in my opinion is spectacular. I highly recommend it. I still listen to it on the regular.
Some albums i love but are maybe unpopular:
- KISS "The Elder"
- Alice Cooper "Muscle of Love"
- The Stranglers "The Gospel According to the Meninblack"
- ELO "Time"
- BOC "Mirrors"
- Warren Zevon "The Envoy"
It’s a bit scary, you picked some of my favorites from Foreigner, Great White AND Night Ranger… the awesome Mojo album with The Night has a way!! 🙌🏻❤🎸
Perhaps older fans simply gave up?! 🤷🏼♂️😵
Black crowes/ warpaint
Yeah that’s one that I only like a few songs on and would not consider it a popular album at all. But I know there are those like you who love it and we all have those kinds of albums in our personalized collections.
DIAMOND REXX “Land of the Damned” I love it.
For me it’s always been Dirty Work by The Rolling Stones. To me, it captures the vitriol between Jagger and Richards during that time. Sounds like too rude, winning, ugly fight, had it with you all exemplify how they were feeling towards each other. I also love Pink Floyd‘s album the final cut. And I don’t think it’s a great album, I find myself listening to Iron Maiden’s no prayer for the dying more often than many of their classic records. The songs have not been worn out. There is some stuff on there. I don’t like. Songs like hooks in you, bring your daughter to the slaughter, etc., but I do like the deeper more tracks like run, silent, run, deep, the title and my favorite public enema number one
Here are my favorites:
- Scorpions: Fly to the Rainbow,
- Tank: This Means War,
- Angel Witch: Screamin' 'n Bleedin',
- Flotsam & Jetsam: When the Storm Comes Down,
- Black Sabbath: Tyr,
- Mercyful Fate: In the Shadows,
- Rainbow: Stranger in Us All,
- Iron Maiden: The X Factor,
- Candlemass: The King of the Grey Islands,
- Venom: Storm the Gates.
I would say my favourite unpopular albums are KISS’ The Elder. House Of Lords - The Pieer and the Myth. They went it alone Zeppelin direction, less melodic hard rock. I like it. Megadeth”s Risk and Cryptic Writings.
my Uncle knew someone from Atlantic Records so I got a lot of those CDs for free back then (also got to see STP play at Roseland - dressed as KISS) - I also thought the '1991' album was great and it was also my introduction to Skynyrd - the song 'Smokestack Lighting' reminds me of the song 'Way Down South' from the opening credits to 'My Cousin Vinny'
W.A.S.P. - KFD to me is a real good album. In my opinion one of their best. It's hard to get nowadays, and it's not even on streaming platforms.
This is James Brendon my pics are
1. Kiss Asylum
2 Black Sabbath Dehumanizer
3. Flotsam And Jetsam When The Storm Comes Down
4. Britny Fox Bite Down Hard
5. Great White Let It Rock
6. Night Ranger Big Life
7. Warrant Ultraphobic
8. Winger Pull
9. Sacred Reich Heal
10. Dio Angry Machines
Here are some that come to mind:
KISS - Hot in the Shade (I'd have lobbed off about four or five tracks, but there's a much leaner killer album in there)
Alice Cooper - The "blackout" albums (Special Forces, Zipper Catches Skin, DaDa). Also love his first two, they often get slammed.
Great White - Sail Away (I LOVE this album, one of my favs from them, no question). Can't Get There from Here is another forgotten gem.
Black Sabbath - Technical Ecstasy, Seventh Star (but I absolutely can;t stand Born Again!)
U2 - Pop (I'll take this over Zooropa every time)
Anthrax - Vol. 8 (definitely a groove metal album, not thrash, but still fun)
Pink Floyd - The Endless River (I like Brian Eno-style ambient, so it works for me. Should have been marketed as an archival release rather than as an actual studio album)
Elton John - The 80s albums, but not including Victim of Love--that thing was unlistenable!
After watching a bunch of Anthrax tier list videos, I was starting to think I’m the only person that likes Vol 8.
