🎮 Comment Another starting point of one of Big N's great franchises. Since the first Metroid didn't have a map you could get lost easily. Of you couldn't get your hands on a magazine with a walkthrough you had to draw your own maps. As someone who didn't play the NES original until I played this longplay, I got fooled by a quite nasty detail: You can either have the wave beam OR the ice beam, not both. Without the Ice Beam however you cannot get through the last section. And the game doesn't tell you this. In fact it tells you jack. That was the time when manuals were still very important.
So glad I can experience this game without playing it for myself! Was greatly innovative at the time but is hard to get into compared to the newer games.
Thanks for helping me fulfill my mission to beat the OG Metroid. I love the ending especially if you get good one and you find out the character Samus is a female but I didn’t know once you beat the game you can play again this time out of the suit,it definitely gives it replay ability making it interesting for 2nd play threw. I can tell how original franchises that started on NES are such house hold names like Kirby,Mario,Zelda and no doubt about it Metroid. Next week I plan on watching another of your videos, this one may take me longer to beat but I’m excited to try out Zelda Link to the Past next week. Thanks again for helpful videos that make the game fun to play 😎👍
I played this on my 3DS through the Virtual Console. I didn’t finish it but i had a great time. But the first Metroid game i ever played was Prime on the Gamecube(ah, nostalgia...). Then, i played Prime 2: Echoes and Prime 3: Corruption on the Wii(not my favorite of the 3). I know that music was on a special mode in Tetris DS. Thanks, RGS.
Aww yeah Metroid. Theres nothing I can say that someone hasent already. This game is awesome tho and the longplay was also awesome. Good job Retro Game Spacko
Having only recently played Super Metroid myself, I tried to give this one a try and just can't. Without features like crouching and a minimap I just can't

And thus, the Metroidvania genre was born.

I completely agree. Same for the first Zelda. You just wouldnt make a game this way anymore.
I'll gladly watch proper playthroughs of any and all Metroid games!

The intro music is so Alien
The music or OST I This game and Mega Man 2 and 5 got me into video game music.
It may be old, but it is still without a doubt the best Metroid game on the NES.

Lucie Bureau didn’t finish? I had the first 3 on mine and I never finished the 2’d because it was annoying

Thank you
i have watched so many speed runs of this its weird seeing it played the proper way
Speedruns are like eating competitions. Technicly it's impressive but it's a waste of some good food
lol
@@RetroGameSpacko jesus lol thats a fitting description
that is the perfect analogy
I beat Ridley first because I always have a hard time getting the energy tank by kraid without the jump boots and it’s just more convenient that way
Its a legendary game
59:11 - Kraid, 1:11:19 - Ridley, 1:25:22 - Mother brain
1:27:47: The moment when everyone realized "SAMUS IS A GIRL?!?!?!?"
all it needs is metroid prime 3 and metroid samus return/ metroid 2 return of samus
Everyone Gangster till he gets to Tourian.😅
Who else is excited for Prime 4?
Wow the first game wow

The only reason to even play this over Zero Mission is to see how the franchise started and to say you beat it.
that is soooo true
