Thanks for the walk through. I picked up an Air-o-Lantern yesterday in excellent condition. Q99 generator. Will pay close attention to where the spacer washer is located in relation to the base. It has the base plate, so will likely date from 1922 when Coleman added the plate. Invaluable information for when I do a clean up.
The old silk lites are much more durable and are brighter than the new ones, but vintage silk lite mantles are pretty pricey now compared to the newer ones. The old silk lites were made with thorium, which is a little bit radioactive, so in the 1990s they switched to yitrium that is not radioactive.
I have a L327 1926 only problem is after burning for ten minutes the mantle’s start turning black, any ideas to why. Cheers say hi to your dad from me.🏴🇺🇸
If your mantles are starting to blacken, that usually means that it is not getting enough air. I would check the air tube for restrictions, usually spider webs.
مقطع جميل ، كم اعشق هذه الفوانيس ، تشعرك بالزمن القديم ❤️👍
Great job, fabulous lantern. Amazing to see it burning again like it did when it was made.
Just finished cleaning up a L427 4/29 with the old Q99 gen new pump cup and fuel cap seal, Love the old lanterns.
Another great lanterns video. Thanks

Looks great Luke!! Good video
Very nice 👍
What is the difference between the cheap Coleman mantels and the silk light mantels? Quality of light or longevity ? Something else?

a good way to clean those tanks out is for diesel fuel in a pack of Steel Daisy BB and then put it on a Tumblr
