I don't know if you guys will see this comment but this is my hometown and it was so lovely to see you visit it! I laughed when I recognised some people... The man at the market that gave you bananas is a friend of my parents', always very nice and always generous! Also, the boulangerie where you went to get lunch is held by someone I know. So happy you guys had the best weather for it as well. Oh and yes... the train station area is quite dodgy so I'm not surprised it smelled so bad.

Happy to hear you like the smell of cacao-beans roasting in the Netherlands better than that of cough syrup and eggs in Arles.
And nice that you managed to catch the train. So relatable, the speeding up, the last moment boarding, and then sitting down breathless but relieved.

@tubularap The next train wasn't for two hours, so we were quite happy about that one 😅

Just for your information. If you're in France and need a lunch, just take a baguette (costs close to nothing) and some cheese, you'll have a much better lunch than a cold pizza and much cheaper to...

Those obelisks you see are from the Roman Empire era. I believe they brought them from Egypt if I’m not mistaken.

Wow! Seriously? There are quite a few of them around Europe. That is really an interesting fact. I suppose it does make sense, especially with the influence Egyptian culture seemed to have on the West in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

Kind’ve a disgrace honestly. This town hated Vincent when he was alive and now they prey on his memory to make money. The locals should be ashamed.

There is a church near the obelisk, which is really a piece of art. The gate of the church is insane: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_St._Trophime,_Arles
