    New Galaxy A7 Tab Lite does not allow apps to be moved to SD card, even when permissions are allowed. Latest Android 12 dated 07/2022 installed. Found a few other recent posts online stating their A7 doesn't provide the "change" tab since 12 update. Bummer! Installed and then formatted Sandisk Extreme 32GB SD card.

    Confirmed works on Android 13.
    Make sure you enable developer options and allow writing to external.
    "Change" button appears in storage info app and allows transfer with no issues.
    Internal Storage isn't reflective of change but I was able to confirm by plugging A7 Lite to a external source aka PC, Laptop to check internal space

    In the past, I was able to move certain apps to the SD card; HOWEVER, when the app was UPDATED from the Play Store, it would move it right back to the Internal Storage. This means if you have say 20-30 app updates (which happens all the time), you'll have to constantly be moving them from Internal to External storage every time updates are made. My question is, if you move an app to the microSD card, DOES IT STAY THERE even after an update is made? Can you please verify and let me know? Thanks - and good video.

    I can move apps alright, well, those that can be moved, but I'm searching for info if there's any possibility of making an SD card a default place for downloads? Don't want to be moving apps all the time. I want them to go straight to SD like they can on my phone.

    Don't know why, but on my tablet, in apps, it moves the application and says that it's in external storage, but when I look in the storage nothing have move from internal to external... Doesn't seem to work. I have the latest august 2023 update!

    I try to move my games to the sd card but it won't work. like i have the change button, that said that is install on the sd card and if i remove the sd card the app won't work even but i don't see the space use in the sd card instead of the internal storage like my sd card is still at 200mb and my internal at 26gb use even if ive install 5 games in it. i don't understand 🤔

    Just off of a chat with either a Samsung rep or a bot. I cannot tell. Here is the transcript.

    Let me check the details.

    Unfortunately, we don't have option to move the apps to SD card memory after the Android 9 version update.
    2:56 PM
    That seems fairly backwards as far as an "update" is concerned. Is there any plan to restore this ability in any new updates?

    I would file complaints with Samsung. I would guess this is a ploy to sell machines with more memory from the factory. Strictly a guess.

      Would be interesting to see if the functionality exists on non stock ROMs. I guess the fact this previously worked proves that spotting storage among internal and SD storage is technically feasible (with the obvious limitation that you can't upgrade to a higher capacity SD or use the card for something else)

    Daniel, seems like the only way to move the location to SD Card is by checking the apps first whether possible or not. With the older Android version, there is an option to make the SD Card as the default storage. Looks like this option is not available anymore in Android 12. Am I right?

    It is easier to upgrade the tablet by buying a new one , or switch to Apple IPad which seems to be easier . The latest update doesn't provide an option now.

    I just rest my Galaxy Tab A7 lite 8" tablet to factory. I am trying to have apps from th start use the SD card. I follow your process for my comixology app for example and I choose SD card and it says to wait while it transfers over then it comes back and tells me there is not enough storage???? The SD card is brand new and I just factory rest the tablet? Any guidance would be appreciated.

    Move to SD card won't work yet on 12 update. stay on 11 until it is fixed. I was able to go back to 11. Google using Odin on Samsung tablets.

    If an app is 2GB DATA, that WONT be moved... only say 175MB of the app will... this is clickbait

    Doesn’t work for apps! Anyone know if it will be fixed in android update? If Samsung is going to be like iPads and iPhones now, then I may as well go back to apple!

    • @DanielSRosehill
      @DanielSRosehill  2 роки тому

      Yup. But relatively few. My guess would be that the only apps you can shift to the SD are those that don't interact in any way with the main system storage (because it's on a separate volume). I can't remember which I got over but .. most of them I couldn't.

    • @starcorpvncj
      @starcorpvncj 2 роки тому

      @@DanielSRosehill I'm very surprised. I tried all apps that don't interface with the main system. Not a one would transfer. BTW, do you know if the 64GB version has a xim card, as the 32GB does. If so where can I buy it. I'm an Australian in Vn. Not so much choice here.
