- Disclaimer: Boring Video.
I made this video for my own personal use. I own a 10" Galaxy Tab A from 2018. Sadly, I find the settings screen abit difficult to use. Actually, though, this video is about moving app data over to sd card.
Surprisingly, when I add new apps and games on this android tablet, it's not sending data over to the SD card.
I own a 32 gb Galaxy Tab A and I'm surprised it's already full!
Anyways, to move your apps to sd card (assuming you've already inserted a micro sd into your tablet)
1. Click on Settings
2. Click on Apps
3. Click on the app you want to move storage to SD card
4. Click on Storage
5. Under "Storage Used" click on "Change"
6. Click "Next"
7. Wait for it to complete...
Voila.. you will now have saved some internal storage so you can install more GAMES!
I was surprised how fast the data got filled up on this galaxy tab.
This is very useful, thank you! I'm using tab 8.0 A and it works! If you don't have the "change" option you just need to update the tablet. Before updating my tablet I cant transfer my apps to my sd card. But after updating it, there will be a "change" option. Although updating the tablet will add 9GB to your storage. But I think it's okay to update it since I can move my apps now to my sd card.
I've just bought Samsung galaxy tab A8 and I don't have the option, I've done all the updates but still no option.
Any ideas?
@@_WARL0CK_ hello! Can I ask how many times you update your tablet? I update mine like 2 or 3 times:>
@@jon-uw4wm well, it's updated to the latest version.
@@_WARL0CK_ ohhh okay. How about trying the "Force allow app external" option in your settings. Settings > Developer options > Force allow apps on external. I saw these tips from other tutorials to transfer your apps to your SD card

You also have to Disable Auto-update of the App, and you do this in the "Store" settings of the App.
Otherwise, with each auto-update it will be moved back to Internal Storage without you knowing.
How do you do that?
@@eestraca9584 it doesn't matter it doesn't work I tried what this guy said I still can't transfer my Call of Duty game over to the SD card even though it says it has been internal storage clearly shows the exact same amount of space being used but if you want to know how to do that you simply go to your Play Store click on the app or type in the app that you have that you want to turn off auto update and then there's three little dots in the top right-hand corner when you're on the page with the app to either uninstall or open or install you click on the three little dots and a little window will show up and at the bottom you'll see a little checkbox on the right side that says auto update uncheck the box
@@survivalishardstaystorng some apps disable the ability to move apps to external storage. I play Dokkan Battle and you can't move it to SD without doing some shenanigans.
@@eestraca9584the app store, you click on the game the 3 dots in the top right corner, the button will be there.
Thank you so much, COD Mobile is 12. 15 GB and I exported to my SD card. All thanks to you.
Surprised it worked for you. It's so random... samsung tab a 10" works for some... and it doesn't work for others (maybe depends on the software update??).. and I heard for the 8" it has horrible support... but I've never tried for real.
Bro it doesnt let me me export CODM please help me

On my a8 I can move apps
Thank you so much, this worked for most all of my apps except for my largest witch is 8 gigs
I cant find the same info, but for the galaxy s5e ..... could you do one pweeease
Of you've got the latest updates from samsung.. it's highly unlikely apps to SD card is available or works.
I learned to live without this...
Google pretty much stopped support since most of their tech is now 100% internal storage (with no SD card support)
How can I transfer some apps from the samsung tablet to samsung mobile phone.
This just looks just like my tablet when I go to do mine except mine doesn't transfer anything over even though it says it does cuz clearly the internal storage says the exact same amount I have tried to transfer my Call of Duty game from the internal storage to the SD card and it says that it's transferred but clearly it has not been transferred no change at all and internal storage size 13 GB should be transferred but nope
Having the same exact problem with ours
Same problem here
I hope this get noticed, is this the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2019 model sir?
This was taken roughly 9 months ago .. and yes.. a Tab A 10" model form 2019.
The issue though... is... if they updated the tablet to android 11.. I'm pretty sure theres a change they broke this feature. Sorry, I gave this tablet to my brother... so I can't verify that updates might have broken apps to sd.
I have a Samsung Galaxy tab a 2019 t510 10.1. I just buy a sd card but when i tried to transfer apps to sd card it givses me no space left on sd card and i just bought it.
Hi there. Its doesn't give me the option to move to sd card on any of the apps. I have the 2020 tab A7... Any suggestions ???

Doesn't seem to work for the 2019 model either.

Careful. Android 11 update might hose the ability to move apps to SD. Also, on newer Samsung tablets. You can't use SD card for apps at all like Samsung a7

Hello can you help me, on my tablet samsung galaxy tab a 8.0 2019 one, any game I have downloaded doesn't have that option to put on sd card so an app or game that I have that I want on sd card how would I do that?
Remind me bro if he replied
We have the same problem
Hi Crystal, you can try enabling the SD card feature on developer mode.
Otherwise,.. there is supposedly a way to force SD card for all apps.. but this requires you to use a PC and use ADB to enable SD card.
When I have time, I will investigate this method.
Thanks for the video. When I try moving my apps to the storage card I get a message that is not enough storage space but I just inserted a brand new 120 gig micro SD card and formatted it and restarted my Samsung tablet A. Any suggestions?
Hi Shazad. Sadly.. newer tablets do not support apps to sd. Here is what I've seen from testing:
1. The move button doesn't exist in many cases (you can force it using developer options...)
2. When you move.. most of the time.. the app data does not move consistently.
let's say you have a 1gb game.
You're lucky if 1gb gets transferred to sd card
More likely.. it will only partially transer.. like 100-300mb.
Finally, some games have other data... this data STRANGELY.. does not transfer to SD card.
Some on android forums have suggested rooting the tablet and then using the apps2sd app to transfer apps completely.
I'm sorry to give you the bad news. Android/game developers have dropped the ball. I've been trying to tell people.. just buy the larger storage tablets if you play games... why?
SD card is used mainly for storing photos and videos (and don't get me started with disneyplus downloads).
My inserted sd card also does not appear it says no sd card inserted why ????
It's possible samsung has updated your tablet to android 11 (june update). This has hosed any chance of using sd card for apps. Note, if you're not worried about warranty and you don't mind rooting your device... then you can go the apps2sd route. I'm still waiting for my tablet to go out of 1 yr warranty.
I’m also using a tab a8 but the storage used icon isn’t coming up even though there’s an sd card inside
some games or app dont go inside like roblox?
When I transfer games to SD card, internal storage stays the same. As if the game is still on internal storage. But everything is saying that the game has moved to the SD card. Any ideas why?
Maybe try restarting your device and see if this changes anything?
Same mine is also like yours
Same issue here i have no idea whats going on.
Mine does this too. I don't know how to fix. We restarted it, it says the app is on the SD but the data seems to be still on the internal storage.
Same here
Thank you so much this tutorial helped me a lot.
Don't get change box on the samsung a7 tab tablet.
Yea for me too I guess we need to get Samsung switch
Same...
How much gb sd card will maximumly will support in this tab .....plz ans...
Thabk you bc i didn't know how to get more space and change😅
OH MY GOD thank so much
I can't find storage used change i only can see clear data and clear cache
Thank you so much
IMy mother has a Galaxy Tab A from 2016 and the screen is different. When I go to Storage for an app, there is nothing that says "Change".
AyaSin X Touch Storage, and then scroll up and chane is there touch CHANGE. Choose SD card, may be a bit late to reply 😊😊
Samsung sucks, this is nightmare to move around this way and not multiple at the time
I think this is a general problem with all phones and tablets. Android just doesn't support moving apps to SD... Other people have said that lg has this issue too.
This makes sense since android phones and tablets don't have an SD card.
Doesn't show for my tab a 8.0 2019
Sadly. For the 8" models they don't have apps to SD. It requires doing some funky stuff with a PC and ADB. I now have a Samsung a7 10.4" with the same issue as you. Sadly SD card at stock can only be used for media like music, vids and pics. Wish Samsung would have told us. I would have gotten the bigger storage tablet.
Bruh im trying to move call of duty mobile which has 14 gb into my card it says it moved but it still uses my internal what do i do
Sorry... I Don't know the solution to this.. because I think this is a programming issue with the makers of call of duty. Some app makers correctly make their app so it can move most data over to SD card.. but some makers are lazy and force some internal storage to always remain on in internal because probably for performance issues.
If I ever learn how to bypass this.. I'll let you know. Days of me getting a low storage tablet are over. only 64gb.. or larger tablets for me.
Why is it stuck on 95%?
Help I downloaded a large app and transfer it to sd card but my sd card didn't increase? It's still the same and I'm getting frustrated now
I know.. I just saw your other post on a different video I made. I'm not sure what model you have.. an A or A7, but.. the update to android 11 pretty much hosed apps to sd card. I know.. I noticed it too.. the sd card usage doesn't increase.. or if it does.. it's not what you expect.
You can try on different apps.. and you'll see.
I thought it was a samsung issue... so I made sure to at least update samsung file manager... but android 11 just doesn't support apps to sd well at all.
@@aleksdude my tab is samsung a7 lite
@@toriicreations9079 Yikes.. you got pretty much the same tablet as me... I got an A7 sm-t500.
I spent last week firing up this 2020 tablet thinking SD card might work better ... but it isn't.
I ran the gambit:
1. Factory reset my tablet
2. Updated the OS if possible
3. Updated samsung apps
4. Formatted my SD card (And yes! it is a class 10 card.. I've used it on a fire hd 10 tablet with 0 issues)

Samsung tab a (8.0,2019) how to move apps in sd card
sorry about the late reply:
I'm assuming you're running android 9 (pie)... since my tablet is running android 10 , maybe it's this:
www.makeuseof.com/tag/move-android-apps-sd-card/
Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App info.

Select Storage. If the app supports being moved to a card, you'll see a button here labeled Change. ...
Select the SD Card in the Change storage dialog box.
If you don't see the option for your app, it could be that app doesn't support moving to SD card.
I hope this is all you needed. Or by now you probably figured it out.
For me it does not pop up the change game to sd card, also I do have a sd card, Can someone help, its a 8.0
For the samsung tab a 8" unfortunately, this is disabled feature. Not sure why.. but samsung decided to disable apps to sd starting in android 10.
1. Use a special app on playstore that might all you to move apps to sd.
2. You can use ADB and a PC to possibly enable sd card for apps. If you want, you can look into "xda developer samsung tab a enable adb sd card"
Sorry, I haven't tried either method yet. I just know this is becoming more common sadly.
@@aleksdude Hey there! Is it alright for me to ask what special app that is?
Quite strange I don't see "Change" on mine
If you own an 8" tab a. It does not have this. Unfortunately the 8" is completely. For 10". It might be available for some apps. Althought the latest update might disable this.

Nothing happens
If you're using a newer samsung a with the latest firmware... move to SD storage is broken for most apps.
Essentially. it really depends on how the developer programs their games.
I tested this.. and noticed like 1/10 games.
Newer firmware of android doesnt properly transfer the games anymore.. google stopped supporting this since none of their phones have external SD
Essentially.. the sd card can be used for storing pictures and videos.. (sometimes downloaded streaming content like from netflx.. BUT NOT disney+)

2020 a7 it's completely blocked for android 11. I actually purchased an a7 when it was on sale at samsung with a samsung a71 phone.
I'm planning to try using adb to enable sd card as internal device storage. I'm abit wary... since it's definitely not approved by the manufacturer.. and it could break some stuff on my tablet. But I'll try it out sometime this month. Noone has mentioned to me online using any apps from playstore that might allow apps to sd. I think if it's possible through playstore app, that might keep your warranty.

I've never encrypted my sd card in the past. The biggest problem is that only certain apps will work with this. Google changed the rules for some reason

@@aleksdude ok. I am still looking. I am going with a 64GB model. Haven't decided on the 2019 or 2020 yet. I can get an International 2020 here for a little under $275. I can do it but somehow it says it's still in my internal storage, resetting, restarting I tried everything but nothing works...
Do you know what model tablet and android version you are running?
When I owned an old tab A 10", it was running android 10. Back then.. move apps to sd worked.
Then came the android update to 11. I never got to run the update was I gave the tablet to my brother.
But I did purchase a samsung A7 10".
This had android 11 on it.. and for the life of me.. they completely removed apps to sd.
Then in a september 2021 update, they added it back in.
Butt... then people noticed some apps don't install to sd at all.
What I found out.. after testing my A7.. with different apps.. is that it's a hit and miss.
1. I tried installing asphalt 9,.. and surprisingly 2gb could be transferred.
2. But I tried an app that was 1gb.. like nitro racing,.. and instead.. only 100mb transferred over.
3. Other apps.. like Bus baby world... they were as you describe.. nothing moved at all, even though it says files were moved.
This feature appears to be completely broken for android 11 with samsung tablets A or A7.
I tried factory resetting.. I updated all samsung apps... Nothing helped unfortunately.
Sorry for the long story.. but that's where I am at with my samsung a7 10" tablet running android 11.
Good luck.
