If anyone has the money to spend for a jacket directly from Levi, I recommend doing it, if you get the full jacket, you can cut the sleeves off and fray the edges were the sleeves used to be, giving it a more accurate look.
bro the vintage $98 one is 60% off in store at the levis store i paid $40 !!!! its the right color and everything! for the the full jacket!!! but its instore only and it has to be the levis store!!
Agreed! The form of the stitching on the Levis vests is very specific and gives the illusion of broader shoulders since it has a "V" shape (for us females who wanna cosplay him lol). So if y'all can invest in the trucker vest you can get a very accurate look.
As someone who is a proud owner of a Battle Jacket, this is an incredible work of art and its inspiring me to make another based on the 1980s metal era!!
really great guide and attention to detail! and for all the concerned metalheads commenting, yall know this is a cosplay/costuming channel right? this creator recreates costume pieces from media so even if a battle jacket/vest is part of metal culture, eddie himself is a fictional character,,,
This was very cool. I knew so many guys for who this was a uniform back in the 80s, often the larger back patch would be safety-pinned all the way round so it could be switched out as their fave band changed (or they just didn't have a mom or gf who sewed lol)
I love how the gear I wore every day in the mid 80's is now a "costume" that people wear to cons, and events. I mean this genuinely because I thought it'd be far gone by now, lol. Mine was an Iron Maiden "Killers" back patch with more Iron Maiden pins, and a Slayer one on a Lee vest because it had wool insulated liner similar to flannel. Classic Levi's jackets didn't have a liner so the people that wore them froze their asses off without a jacket underneath, lol.
this one is only a costume because its supposed to be part of a specific character's cosplay. regular old battlejackets havent gone anywhere. punks and metalheads alike are still rocking all our fav bands

Teh cool thing is, these pins, Jewlery and patches are easy to fine all over the place, still being worn 35-40 years later! Just watch someone (hot topic and the like) will jack the prices up for these kids doing the cosplay.
Oh they absolutely do and will for the foreseeable future, it’s Highway robbery but it’s the price we pay to look like some of our favorite characters 💀 that’s why (when I can) I enjoy going this more DIY route, plus it adds more to the cosplay imo
I finished handsewing the DIO patch onto the back this morning, and I’m literally screaming. I haven’t got all of the other patches and pins in the mail yet, but I’ll be putting those on too as soon as I get them. I’m so excited.

Battle vests/jackets are ment to be a representation of one’s personal music taste and/or personality; sure you can bear appreciation for and individual’s personal vest, but it would be illogical and frowned upon in the metalhead community. By all means if you want to make someone else’s vest, who is anyone to stop you, but as you become more of a metalhead (if that is what you want to be) then the better move is to spend the money on patches of bands that describe more of your music taste and your favorite band as the back patch and the color of vest that youd actually wear, bc as much as i love Dio, not everyone is a fan so before buying a bunch of patches of bands your not a fan of, listen to the bands and do the reseach due, but like i said those are some tips for individuals reading this that want to take the “metalhead road”, but if thats not what you want to do then go for it, its no one’s decision but your own to make someone elses battle jacket, just make sure it doesn’t have diamonds or MC patches because they still exist and can get you caught up in bad situations. Ps: Just my two cents and advice coming from a dude who grew up a metalhead and my intention was not to knock anyone who wants to make this vest, its an incredible work of art and it belonged to a legendary guy. R.I.P Eddie
True, but this tutorial is specifically for cosplaying as Eddie. People who dress up like characters at conventions sometimes strive to be as accurate to how the character looks on-screen as possible and there's even contests for it.
