Philz i feel ya. Unfortunately the mainstream just don’t want manuals anymore. I test drove a Caddy 1.4T with the DSG for work, and to my surprise, its a tidy little unit. The Japanese cars should really adopt dual clutch autos. Makes the little cars somewhat more livelier. Oh, well, soon, it will be a treat just to be able to drive combustion engines, with the way EV vehicles are going.
Mr. H yeah I agree. But I guess it’ll be a slow adoption of EV since Australia’s price of EV isn’t just for everyone. Also the charging station resources are still very limited at this time in point 😁😁
Curt, what's with your comments about the White Paint on the Octavia? Why are you referencing to the "very, very light grey paint" / "refrigerator white; oh sorry, light grey"??? The colour is "Moon White Metallic". Candy White is a flat paint (no-cost option) on the Octavia... I just cant see how you see grey?
If you want to split hairs, you'll actually find that most things (including cars and whitegoods) aren't actually white, just very very light shades of grey. So despite being advertised as 'white' they are not. Also you're viewing the video through; a camera > editing software > color grading > phone/computer screen... so you're not seeing reality
WHY do you need an ash tray to hold your phone LOL. To my opinion, the skoda just looks too ugly and aged. Also, to this segment, you need to concern about the reliability. If you won't sell your car before 80k kms, just go for the japanese car. The VW's DSG transmission is improved but still commonly sucks after 80k kms.
Durio 888 had a few skoda’s now, the build quality is better than the build quality in my BMW. Servicing isn’t even that expensive, cheaper to service my Kodiaq than it is to service my Tiguan. Resale value has also improved
There's no sat nav on both cars cos it's 2020, everybody just uses Carplay or AA
They will be complaining that there is no Cassette player next.
Both great cars, but would have to take the Skoda, currently own a Kodiaq and had a few Skoda’s, loved everyone
Sell it before 100k kms otherwise your DSG transmission may cost you a lot.
Civic any day over this skoda
Seriously a CVT for a sports sedan.Just doesn't cut it for me.Rather do a stage 1 for the 1.4TSI and live a happy life
Idk...I really think the coupes are the best looking 10th gen civics. My 2019 civic coupe ex-t is awesome. I do wish we got that color though!
Didn't know you got skoda in OZ hello from the UK
In Australia, a Skoda is a car that you buy, and when you are done with it you pay someone to take it away.
@@rsoul7282 🤣
The Skoda is due to be replaced, why bother?
Don’t know why Honda didn’t make this color available in the US
Make about the latest please
Why wasn't it compared to a Skoda VRS lol?Thats basically a Golf Gti,it can chew the Civic Rs.
CVT 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ it seems CVT is the transmission of choice across the Japanese manufacturers.
Both cars are nice, yes, nice like a bowl of fruit.
Mr. H I agree, CVT in the bin!!
@@philz417 it's a shame really. These new high efficient motors are good but I just can't understand why the need for the CVT.
Mr. H traditional automatic gearbox with torque converters were ok. But the real deal are manuals with clutches and shifters! Save the manuals

Cerato GT is what I'd go for
More people will still go for the civic over the skoda
Skoda has VW's dreaded DSG gearbox and they depreciate rapidly
@@andrew22334455 TRUE man. VW's DSG sucks. Don't ask me how to know it.
Honda. Just better quality
I love the CIVIC RS
CVT....see ya later..!! DSG any day
agreed. I have a CVT Xtrail and a Golf DSG. I will take DSG any day, smooth quick shifts and feels like a baby sports car.

Honda👍️👍️
Skoda then civic

Money wise these are similar, however, a Civic RS should be up against the normal 162kw VRS instead. Now reevaluate you’re opinion.
I wouldn’t touch the Civic. Awful Thai build quality, expensive to service and with a disgusting CVT.
JFCW mate Skoda has great build quality and cheap to service I hear?
