so I guess having two emitters is the way to actually loop these kinds of particles? I've tried following loads of other people who "says" their loop is done by only dublicaiting their particle systems, but mine still does not loop. I'll try this instead, thanks!

Yeah, this is the best way I could think to make a looping particle system, glad it might help you out!
