Great video, its so refreshing to have a nice long vid about some actual unknown games (as well as a couple Im very familiar with!) - Ive added a few of those Taito games to my list, they are right up my street! Great work as always!
I just stumbled upon this channel and after watching this video, I am a new subscriber! Such a solid list of games. I LOVE the ps1 and I'm always on the lookout for more/new hidden gems. I'll definitely be trying out some you listed here that I normally wouldn't have. Keep up the great work! Time for me to check out some of your other content...
just found your channel today, loved the vibe of this video. haven’t heard of a lot of these games so it’s cool to see them all and hear you talk about them
Oh, the other thing with Tobal no. 1 is that it has a Japan-exclusive sequel which was a massive improvement on every possible level, so that's the one that's become the Hidden Gem(tm) over the years. Actually this is kinda true with Star Gladiator too, as the sequel Plasma Sword has developed more of a competitive scene in recent years while the original has languished.
I think Street Fighter EX Plus Alpha is a strong entry in the Street Fighter series, and does a fantastic job of bringing the Street Fighter series to 3D. We probably wouldn't have Street Fighter IV without it.
Its a little thing in the grand scheme of things, but I absolutely adore the music in both EX1 and EX2 (Plus). The character themes are incredible, Garuda's will always be my favourite! I do wish we'd see Skullomania, Garuda etc. cross back over with SF, I really do miss the EX cast in newer SF games!
re: Star Gladiator, not sure if you knew this but it was originally meant to be a Star Wars fighting game until LucasArts decided they'd do it themselves. That explains the lightsabers and whatnot. Also, Hayato is part of the playable roster in Marvel vs. Capcom 2; though he's low-tier there, there's a player named MagusOld who's done a lot of work playing Hayato as part of a really weird team! Appreciate the EX+@ shoutout as well, HUGE childhood game for me. EX2+ is the game from that series which gets all the love in tournament circles, but I'm a huge "custom combo" hater in general so i prefer the others lol. And as i mentioned in your stream chat, doubly appreciate the Night Striker pick!
Die Hard Trilogy was definitely not overshadowed by Alien Trilogy. Do you know how many fans of the first 3 movies jumped at the chance to play the PS1 game? Everyone I knew back then had a copy of that game right alongside their Crash Bandicoot and MK Trilogy games. Also, peep the sequel when you can: Die Hard Trilogy 2: Viva Las Vegas.
Yeah, replaying it for this video, kinda forgot how easy and quick the game is. As I get older though, I find I value the games you can pick up and finish in an hour or two.
Sucking at a game isn't usually a deal breaker for me, but I'm so bad at Devil Dice that the game just isn't any fun. Believe me, I've tried. It's one of those games I want to like, but I just don't.
It's a little hard to wrap your head around, for sure. I think everyone kinda sucks at first. Rewarding if you can get past the initial skill hurdle though.
This is the kind of channel I love. Just some dude with a passion for old games I grew up with. I think you are doing a great job man keep it up.
Exactly why I’m hear! I recommend his streams too on Twitch!
Very nice of you to say Nick! Glad you enjoy the content.
AGREED!
This channels gonna blow up. I can feel it
That's really nice of you to say; we're working hard. Glad you're enjoying the content!

Thank you Ian! The Taito output on this console is so good.

Thank you so much for subscribing, it means a lot!
I picked up Evil Zone earlier this year and it's funner than farting on a packed elevator.
It's so absurdly silly, isn't it, haha

Welcome! thanks for the kind words too.
Cant believe this guy is trying to recommend me Tomorrow Never Dies
C'mon Blink, I had to include some prime jank on here
Fantastic video as always Kyle!
Thanks Toaster!

Г is G, Л is L, Галеоz = Galeoz.
Thanks for the breakdown

Totally agree, it was a more pivotal release than a lot of people give it credit for

Threads of Fate and Builder's Block both mentioned, absolutely blessed video.
Thank you so much Nate 💜
we’re not worthy! 🙌🏼
*cue Keanu Reeves* "No, YOU'RE breathaking!" 🤣
Ihadurca (the antagonist and cover character of _Evil Zone_) is a top-tier waifu.
17:20 The katakana read GALEOS, so there's a hint. :P
Bold to assume I can read katakana lol. Thanks for watching Halian.

I own the sequel, it's done by N-Space and I personally found it to be a very disappointing retread-style follow-up.
Didn't realize James Bond was a PS1 game
Yeah, I loved the Jumping Flash games. They're a little too easy and too short, but very interesting and unique. The path not taken of 3d platformers.

wooo destruction derby! i have the full box version. love destruction derby 2, has one of my favorite video game OSTs
DD2 does have a great soundtrack; both such fun games! Thanks for watching.
Blasto looks great. So Warner Bros cartoon or Bruce Timm like.
Totally agree; it has such a striking aesthetic

Harry Potter is top tier
Gamera 2k is a copycat of panzer dragoon, not starfox 64
Popn tanks is a copycat of (kinda) virtual on, not twisted metal
From Chicago?
Who, me? Never even been, let alone a native.
