Any idea where to buy replacement little connecting rods?
So, I have this 2 decades old SR50 Ditech in the corner of my garage from my youth. Sitting there all dusty, was not run for 5+ years (yes, with gas from that time in the tank......
And aproaching 40, I am like - I need to try to start it, and ride it or sell it. So, I charge that old battery, mix in some new fuel, shake the scooter hard and try starting it, starter running really strong, but no go. Some few puffs but nothing.
Next day, I feel like trying again. Turn the key, I am looking at that check ign light and feeling like there was a burrrrrrrrrrrrr...... Damn, it is not priming. So reading up on forums, doing the diagnostics, 3 errors, one of them nr.14, fuel pump. So i take it off, looks good, blow some air in it, try starting, but nothing. No priming. So I end up reading that you can usually repair it. Since the motor was not running, i thought, either the motor is dead (or those funny motor contacts) or the pump is seazed from that 5+ years old fuel, maybe...
Some advice here, you can remove the small c clip first, put the whole pump in a cotton work glove, and with a rubber nozzle, press against and blow air in the inlet, the small cap will shoot out into the glove. Now, remove the large c clip, with your thumb press hard on the now missing small c clip lid, and again, blow out the motor ingo a glove (or bag or whatever, just catch it softly and not shoot it through some window or into wall).
And shure, the motor was not running, but looks real good, so cleaned the contacts, bent them a tiny bit, so they press against the large lid contacts harder, and the motor is running now.
And Now, I just have the piston removed (without breaking it) and everything cleaned, except it looks like there will be some debree left in the inlet check valve. So, I left it soak in wd40 to try to clean it, hopefully I can, as, it seems I got everything else working real good.
Thanks for posting this, as it helped me not break the pump
Can somebody tell me the general location of the sr50 reclaimer/altenater please.
EDIT 2009 model
What is the problem with the pumps? Is it just the O-rings that are becoming porous and should be replaced? Replacement pumps are really expensive
After just having disassembled the pump, if it is not running again, but recently ran. Most likely the contacts between motor and that plastic lid with the plug.
Second guess is dirt in the high pressure area

Myne got broked the con rod inside of the pump 🙄
Nice clear video but what pump condition are you fixing?
It's an old pump if I correctly understand ur question.
Dear Oliver. Thanks for the reply. I was wondering whether it was simply a refurb or had it stopped running or running but not producing enough pressure for the injector to fire. The pressure failure is what is sinking a lot of the pumps and is the current problem with mine. Kind regards

How can I buy a new one
Do they sell new motors? Or is the fuel pump just a complete unit?
It's a complete unite
Do you know of there's a rebuild kit for the pump? I got a dead pump but the motor in it works.
Not really sure!
search shapeways for fuel pump crank arm for aprilia ditech, it'll cost you 13€ but that's almost certainly your problem.
That piston it is gone get loose in time?
I'm getting a 2006 SR50 with a bad fuel pump. Is it the connection what goes bad in them?
Yes, but also can be the piston or simply worn out the electric motor...
@@OliverTube thank you for your response. I'm getting it Tuesday and will know more then.
Waiting for update!
@@OliverTube I hope it works out. It's a 2006 Spiderman 2 machine with about 500 miles.
If the pump is running but is not making enough pressure, than is it possible that the small piston is faulty? If yes, than is it replaceble?
Yes, unless cylinder is worn!
@@OliverTube Is the cylinder also replaceble?
@@arnoldliptak2395 no idea1!
@@OliverTube Thank you for your help. You have recorded a very helpful video.
I think it can be made in late machine after you took it out from its place with a screw
2 stroke injection?
Yes Mr.TKO, Aprilia SR50 Ditech with injection system.
Witch size have the O Rings?
No idea but u can determine size if u measure the inner diameter of the cylinder!
Have u tested? And what are the result's?
Yes, and it's working:). Nowadays i will post a video.
