It’s happening all the time now Steph, red seems to be the preferred colour for our weather pics as it seems the redder the better so many times when we watch the weather reports/forecasts. Having lived through the summer of 1976 (that was hot & dry) we haven’t had a summer like it since but we haven’t had a winter like 1962/63 either have we? Two real extremes, but in the mix over the years? Keep up the good work and keep tabs on the rest of the weather reports for us? Many thanks Andy.
Yes I remember 1976 hot summer Though not quite old enough ( born 1964) for the 1962/63 winter though heard a lot about it from friend who witnessed it as a child fascinating to hear about it 😊
Hmmmm....the appointment of a Minister for Drought seemed to fix the 1976 heatwave. Maybe this year we need to appoint a Minister for Miserable Summers?
I'm not even being hyperbolic when I say that I don't think I've ever seen a news paper headline relating to weather that has turned out to be accurate, you can almost guarantee that whatever the headline says, it will be the exact opposite (that might be a bit hyperbolic).
I don't really understand how they can get away with printing stuff that is wrong just to get hits. Wouldn't happen in other reporting, but weather seems fair game.
It has never been about the weather or the climate. Those are only used as tools to sell their product. Of course to predict warmer weather on the days with the most daylight hours of the year.
And these people call themselves “journalists”. And yet moving away from traditional news outlets to UA-cam for news is criticised and portrayed as a sea of stories with no credible reporting.
Standard clickbait titles. I'm not a meteorologist, I'm just your average Joe Public, and even I take anything the weather reports promise past 48hrs with a pinch of salt. Anything past 48hrs is just educated guesswork as far as I can see. And that guesswork gets wilder and wilder the further ahead it's predicted. That article was just typical MSM fear-mongering hoping to cash in on the climate-change hysteria 🤣
Yeah, more than a couple of days out models can only provide a trend in the weather based on modelling and current weather can change that trend. It's all computer models, probability, and confidence...
Daily Express nuff said .
Love it 🙃🤭😊☀️🇬🇧

Good one, Steffi! You and your colleague are filling a much needed slot in forecasting.
Bless you! That's very kind of you to say x

Sometimes need a wind gust chart for me Steff.
Ha! Let me guess, especially after a curry?
The headlines in the Daily Express are always ridiculous regarding weather, I've noticed.
They are hilarious. They make up stories...then blame the Met Office when it doesn't happen.

'Of course to predict warmer weather on the days with the most daylight hours of the year.' Not sure that worked so well this year 🌧️🥶☔️

That's why they are in panic mode.
Does anyone *ever* take weather predictions from the tabloids seriously? ... I'd say they're playing to their demographic... [See, I can be polite]
Where did you learn to be polite?! I think I need some schooling in that department too!

Excellent point! The @Daily_Express leading the way in the argument against traditional news outlets!

Too true!
