Good morning from Minnesota USA!!
I bellive flying should be taken seriously, this interview was very helpfull. Kind of like cramming for an exam. But 20 hours a week in the left seat left me in awe. Hands on is the best training hands down, do it or don't! Love your channel.
Super cool! Can't wait to see the rest of the story. Who will get their ticket first?
I did my ppl part 61 on a pay as you go basis because of limited $$$ it took a couple months but worked well. The school i went to offers accelerated programs that ive seen be very successful, i dont have much experience with the 141 side of things except for A&P school and i didnt like it one bit.
It has already been said, and I agree. Excellent episode! It certainly appears that you were working with some very capable and dedicated people there, Dan! Be sure to let them know often.
All is good doing this way as long as you fly with multiple instructors to learn the good, bad and ugly of each instructor. Everyone does it differently and it’s great to know it every way you can. I used 4 different instructors thank god!!
Dan I need a boss and friend like you! I really look forward to this series as you get it edited and bring it to us
For me I know no other way than full emergence with that said. I was a U.S. Army Hovercraft pilot and for the training it was full on every day. And I can relate to flying as well because years before I was learning to fly but it was once’s a week and what you learned that past week or two I need a refresh. To keep up it’s hard. To do over I would say save up and then go full on and complete✅
As a student pilot, I very much appreciate this video. I am doing it the "slower" method and now wish I could have had the full immersion method. Great Vid! Keep it up!
Full immersion is great! Did my glider and private pilots license in 6(7 for pilots)weeks at Air Cadet camp. We flew 6 days a week and groundschool for half days
We had a fairly thorough ground school knowledge before arriving.
Flying is matter of fact, there is a checklist. Before you leave terra, firma. Everything is critical. But after your walk around you now have to leave the ground. Is this vessel going to return me safley. Do a pretrip before you become airbourne.
My old flight instructor did that. Did 8 hours/ day for 6-9 months. Knocked out all ratings before going to college. He’s a young captain for SWA now.
Excellent episode Dan, thank you. Congratulations to all three of you. Definitely keep up the training. Brad, how far along are you now? I am still grinding away at it slowly, but steady. Keep up the excellent work. Safe skies my friends 🇺🇸🛩️
I received my Private Pilot license back in the mid-1980's. I was going to pursue a career in aviation so I decided to try an accelerated course for my instrument training. I failed my first check ride but passed the second time. However, I never felt that I was fully competent to do hardcore IFR flights. I haven't flown since 1986 but I think it is much better to go the conventional route for training.
Hi guys. I just passed my practical for Sport Pilot 3 days ago. I wanted to let you know that watching Joe Casey was a huge help. Thanks for having those videos with him.
Thanks for sharing!
I completed my Private in 9 weeks under part 61. I think it's a good strategy to quickly get your licenses. Can you imagine full immersion aerobatics school to be an airshow pilot? It takes years to master the airplane at an advanced level. Probably not the best approach.
I’m doing accelerated. 7 months, 4 days a week. Gold seal ground.
I will have pp, ins, complex/hp, multi, cfi, cfii, cfim, commercial and tail wheel.
Phew……
I don’t think sending someone out with a private in a week or two is safe and realistically speaking, unrealistic. That is a good way to kill oneself or others. Unless they are making it a continuous journey of training but then why do such a crazy fast program? Most cases it’s people with lot of money and they go buy a cirrus. I have no respect for such individuals. They can go join joe Lara. He was one of those cases.
I’ll add though that I have been studying aviation for several years now, took my first flight 12 years ago. I listen to phak, stick and rudder and few others on audible over and over again and if I’m not listening I’m watching something educational related to aviation and I will never stop training. I plan to spend lots of the money I make as a pilot on further training and all my rotorcraft eventually as well. Aerobatics, formation, if there’s training in it I’ll sign up. No kids, no wife just flying for money and flying for training which is all fun. Even flying to go somewhere can be a training flight.
Did anyone solo during the week of training?
You'll have to watch the series... coming soon.
I appreciate this experience more than you know! I also am grateful for you pushing me the way you did during flight camp.
Meeting you and the Taking Off family has changed my life!
Congratulations on falling in love with aviation!! I remember your first flight video. You did great! Best of luck on your new journey. I love it! Love to see people fall in love with aviation. I love it so much I’d marry an airplane if I could 😂. Never stop learning! It’s an amazing endless journey.
I’m a little confused. Did these guys get their private in 9 days? (After watching until the end, I see they didn’t.)
I did instrument in 6 days:
I came with my written done
5 days of training
Checkride on day 6
Loved doing it this way. Doing the same thing for commercial. Wish I could have done this for private.
Where did you get your instrument rating done?
@@chadulik4483 I used a private CFII who had previously worked for an accelerated instrument training program, but had to stop when he went to the airlines because he could only take on individual students.
The prerequisites were:
1) Get at least 40 hours PIC cross country time
2) Complete the IRA written
3) 10 hours of instrument instruction - simulated or actual
Then once we agreed, we first scheduled the checkride, and then the 5 days prior to that date, we flew basically as many hours per day as were needed to become proficient.
The day before the checkride we had a mock checkride including a mock oral. And he signed me off.
I think that's what I should have done. I honestly do. Now I can kick myself
