This was no accident; it was a orchestrated thus deliberate publicity stunt presumably Boris Johnson's idea; the objective was to draw the World's attention to London aided by the World's media outlets; thereby boosting tourism to London. One can tell just by carefully observing Johnson's facial expressions and the movements of his head as if to say 'Did you capture it on your cameras?'to the journalists below him.

The problem, dear Boris, is that you were TOO HEAVY. Any time both sides of the wire bend down that low on either side of you, you're about to get stuck. Lighter people fly down the wire, while heavier people go slower. That's the way it works.

I got sent this video of it happening recently and sure years ago I and most people would’ve agreed with what you said and now today it has aged like milk that’s been left out since this comment was written. Fabulous man. Showed he could take a joke. Also went NHS rather than private when recently hospitalised, insisted nursing staff call him Boris and gave his son the name Nicholas as one of his names in honour of the doctor who treated him (treated Boris, that is). A son who was born in an NHS hospital. Respect to him.
