I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a guide for ALL units and how to use them. Or compare different units like light spearmen, or different tier III archers. Or maybe just some specialized units and interesting ways to use them, or a guide on 5 most unique units etc. I play lots of Total War games, but videos about units are my favorite ones to watch and I always watch them. Total War is all about fun units anyways, so yeah, I would really love that 🤗
I think that if they released a massive Mythos DLC for Pharaoh (with lots of myth units for every culture, like TW:Warhammer or Age of Mythology), this could easily be a complete comeback.
@@ReptilicusTV It's funny to me how CA doesn't really get player reception and only works around numbers. If they release Pharaoh and not a lot of people are playing it, it doesn't mean people aren't inter in the bronze age. The game just wasn't good enough. Now when it's finally really good and the map is enormous, they could milk it for years for all I care. If the content is good I'll pay and play it a lot. ESPECIALLY with myth units! 😍😍😍
@@TheRealMrWolf Yeah,it's simple really - a game can attract an audience even if they weren't historically interested in the setting as long as it's a GOOD GAME - look at 3K,there's def people out there that weren't interested at all in east Asian history. Players want scale in TW,immersion,etc. When you ( not you specifically,just speaking in general) drop the veil of elitism at the end of the day in regards to mechanics , balancing and what not - scale,immersion and fun are what drags player into this. And what's fun ? Subjective.
Range units being powerful is representative of the era as most soldiers didn’t use bronze armor and arrows can penetrate everything expect thick plate bronze. It’s also too hot to wear thick cloth that can stop arrows. Though I would reduce the range of the javelins and balance it by giving them slight better melee. Another ranged unit to add are rock thrower mobs (not slingers)
historically wise yes bows were strong but not every civilization/tribe had armies full of em. more so like you mentioned rock throwers of sorts and javelin. bows are busted cause how the lethality system works. if you don't have a way of taking them out fast, the auto battle chance is damn near spot on
@@rubenlopezusa Slings outranged bows, and had a more deadly projectile at that time period in real life though. Bow making wasn't as advanced as the medieval ages, and slings were a perfected science with how long they had been used in military applications. If a sling bullet hit anywhere that wasn't armored that limb was gone.
This game never ceases to pleasantly surprise, especially considering that it touches on my favorite, most ancient and mysterious period of history - the Bronze Age. I hope the developers will not abandon this project and even the most skeptical bloggers will change their anger to mercy. PS I still dream of adding the Harappan civilization and the Sanxingdui culture, as well as a mythological mode like in Troy, but for all Bronze Age civilizations.

Regarding archers, some of better Greek units have large shields + phalanx I don't know if its as intended so it might be fixed, but that golden spears that Troy starts with? Yea its possible for them to get 100% missile block, put them bit in front of rest of your army and watch enemy waste all of their ammo since lethality doesn't work if unit doesn't deal damage, this is especially useful in sieges since enemy won't charge you, you can just watch them waste all of their ammo if there's no towers nearby
They buffed the shield block % on all shields with the lethality rework so now that 100 % is possible without using general abilities etc - I had this exact same scenario early on in a Troy campaign where Mycenae declared war by turn 10. The low tier Trojan spear chads casually tanked like 4 archer units dry. Idk if they'll change it,it's the 2nd most reliable counter to lethality rn,but they should do a balance pass ¬ soon
I found out about the archer deadly-ness firsthand, in my first game as Babylon my kings bodyguard was just a bit too close to the frontline: he and half his unit took arrows to the face and he died, leading the army to break and flee from the field. Had to save scum that one
@@GavinTheFifer imagine the havoc that longbowmen paired with hidden scouts would cause, you don’t see them because of how far they are, but they are shredding your army. I now am tempted to try a battle with ta seti longbowmen with 100% lethality, and fight an elite army of only infantry.
range units were never so deadly since napoleon lol . i know i said before the rome 2 javelin and mid tier archers were deadly but good lord how scary they are in this game at default lethality. i dont say its bad , but its scary for sure
i just love Dynasty... it is the update that the main game Pharaoh could and should have been. Just watch everyone weep when Amenesse comes to town. He brings his pal Memnon to join in on the fun too. 😅
I also like to switch to direct fire for archers when they are lined up on higher ground above your melee troops. From what i've seen they will fire arrows right over the heads of your front lines
No, not here, because if you choose and you can if you change def settings when you start you won't see but aegean factions there. Same as Sargon is better for Mesopotamian. I think I will play as Tutmose as Elam or maybe Lullubi it suits them best imo, while Amenmesse has more fun (wonder) or more profitable (trade) options
I just figured out the barter system and its gotten quite intricate (im very meticulous about what im trading haha 😆) at first i didnt wanna mess with it too much but now its become crucial to keeping my armies going
I really wanted to lIke Pharaoh but it got such bad reviews. Now I picked it up a coulple of days ago and I love it. Really like the infantry battles with limited cav. Really liked the fast spear guys to just hide them and run at their ranged and then hit the main line from behind super effective.
Why is no one giving some love to Elam, i have seen assirya, babilon, greeks, even lullubis, but not a single one in english or spanish is playing Elam
I love Elam ;( I'm gonna do a playthrough with them on the channel just idk if it's the next series or after. One thing CA messed up with bad was the Elamite roster design............but some of their unique visuals are fire !

Gotta conquer the Sinai Peninsula and do diplo at the same time to keep them at bay before the civil war spills all over, the negotiations to get resources are annoying imo
I'm still trying to understand the dynasty mechanics. I kinda think that the dynasties should be open for every major/all factions rather than having to become the top-ranked ruler to track your character's progress. While playing Assyria I got invaded by Carchemish who was rank 5 while I was rank 62. I took a province and razed his capital but those deeds can't be found on the dynasty because all I have is Ruling Family as I am just the King of Hanilgalbat.
It's a bit harder than warhammer 3 at equal difficulty, AI is more aggro And you don't have nuke spells or Overpowered lords and Single entities to carry your arse. The battle feels clunky though. But we have lots of battle mods to address that.
Is there a reason why every enemy on the map declares war on you? I tried one campaign, had it happen, seen literally 9 full stack armies sailing down the Nile to kill me and just quit.
They made the AI a lot more aggressive with the update as the Sea People invasions aren't scripted anymore. I've seen a lot of people complain about the warmonger AI + the AI will have an anti-player bias ( this is a general TW thing,not unique to Pharaoh)
@@ReptilicusTV I didn't play Pharaoh pre patch, so I can't really compare, but it does seem insane. I know total war games always have anti player bias, but they're able to create way higher tier units and way more units than they should be able to. I started a new campaign and if it happens again I might just have to wait for a patch.
@@ReptilicusTV that campaign was the gold guy in southern Egypt, I forget how to spell his name. Now I'm gonna try Agamemnon. I did enjoy Troy quite a bit so I feel like it's more familiar. We'll see what happens

Haha oh man I wish 😂 there;s a lot more guides planned - as for your archer ammo,tell me which faction are you playing ? Sea people have plenty of ammo increases,as do Egyptians if you build Set shrines ( as an example)
my assyrian ruler died in the 10th turn :'( took probably an arrow to the face . i ordered his chariots to charge , looked away 5 seconds then looked back and it was a junkyard of destroyed chariots
Do you need to be at good terms with enemies lol or do you need to be a major faction? Because rn with Achilles im warring with Athens and i took both of their regions but they still wont want to become vassal when we make peace and i offer them their territories back.
Are the settlements low in value or with ruined buildings ? The AI values damaged settlements less / if you've previously vassalised someone in the recent turns it'll also lower the acceptance.
@@ReptilicusTV no its both settlements just east of Athens (food and stone one).. i ended up just conquering Athens though but i would really like to learn to vassalize someone but i guess its harder with minor factions

If you call this amazing wait till you see a recording of someone with a better graphics card :D I'm using the camera option,before you start a battle/during,you can press escape and go to a sort of photo mode where you can adjust the lighting,filters etc..it gives you a mod-like experience without needing to install graphic mods like for Rome 2
AI archers can easily be made useless by having a frontline of 100% block chance (most Spearmen reach it when in Spear Wall formation) absorb all the ammo. As long as you don’t engage their melee units, the AI will in most cases just plink away.
So I am playing a campaign as Ramesses and I don't know how can you get a faction to become your vassal? I only have an option to become myself a vassal to the pharaoh. Do I need to be the pharaoh to have vassals or it's something else?
ALL the old factions and native rosters have them,they forgot to add them for the new ones lmao,so you have to be a bit creative and grab some older units which isn't hard OR let's say you are king of Hanigalbat,recruit great mitanni chariots,they automatically have flaming ammo. There's probably another workaround that i gotta get down to.
So, it always confused me a bit with Pharaoh that melee attack can't be increased by your general, yet Melee Defense/charge can. I read through the Wiki a bit to try to learn the Game and the ingame Wiki clearly states "Presence increases melee Attack and morale at milestone points", yet it only increases morale. A bug?
Don’t try the Elamites on Veteran mode, it’s a nightmare. I think I’m gonna try it again not that I lost per se but I could’ve done things a lot better.
@@ReptilicusTV 3 factions attacked me, I managed to destroy their armies, one agreed to peace after enough armies got lost. Another faction I took their city and traded back in exchange for peace. But at that point I had to delete my second army due to lack of bronze to trade for. My main army was up river and the final enemy had landed a large army, and right then Ur declared war. I haven’t played since, but will try to see if it’s really game over. Should have become a Babylonian vassal when I had the chance!
@@ReptilicusTV I think my main mistake was not conquering the northern friendly state when I had the chance. You just need to go on the offensive, there is no chilling in Pharaoh
Archers aren't broken I don't think. One needs to take their lethality into consideration. Fighting in forests, harassing them and flanking them is the way to go. It's pretty nice to have terrain actually affect the outcomes of battles.
There's a few ways ,off the top of my head here : - Spam battles - Gold amongst the bronze research - General traits/ some god specific prayers - buildings ( this is if you are a mad lad and take Perseus as the Assyrians,they have a unique building chain that spawns generals with chariots)
First advice: forget about diplomacy; it's a disaster, nothing makes sense, betrayal is the norm. Second advice: dont rush the campaign, dont invade two regions (Greece, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Turkey) at the same time. Third advice: dont make crazy sacrifices to reach a coastal region. There are no ports to build, no trade that continuously flows like in older games, nothing special, and vulnerable to frequent invasions. Four advice: forget about the vassals system; useless. Fifth advice: marry your generals, sons and daughters with good partners. Sixth advice: gold, gold, gold... necessary to keep your armies alive and built key buildings in an instant. Seven advice: archer cavalry is lethal and faster unit in the game. No unit can defeat it unless another archer cavalry unit. Faster than infantry and chariots, stronger than regular cavalry by far. Eight advice: build (advanced outposts) commerce buildings (10% increase of everything), sanctuaries that offer manpower and happiness, and lookout towers/forts. Nine advice: catch peoples of the sea at sea, you will be forcing them to fight on a beach against the sea with a big advantage.
I mean I agree that the Perseus Legacy is fun and broken but that kinda makes it not immersive lol. Recruiting high tier archers from other factions anywhere when your whole deal is having elite melee but low ranged is not really immersive.
It's immersive from a vassal/diplomacy PoV,especially if you're playing a faction that historically ruled mostly through vassal kingdoms and branches of the royal family ( Hittites,f.e.)
Really enjoying this update but am getting smacked around waaaay more than i am in my WH3 campaigns, where is wind of death when you need it, wait wrong game
Yeah,the previous version just made it less satisfying visually-you could fire 4 volleys into a low tier with deceng shield/armor without killing a single model. 4 volleys with a t4and above bow The damage was there,the HP distribution combined with armor deg wasn't *feeling*good for a lot of players.
Why give a tip about growth #1, but not show any details about building growth or strategy to accomplish? Time spent on the details instead of glossing over everything would be appreciated.
The buildings were shown there in the growth province example,just pause the video andl ook when it's mouse overed,but a more detailed one is incoming.

Yeah I didn’t like how some cultures have access to sea
peoples missiles but they are atrocious in melee

@@ReptilicusTV Well, worst-case scenario you can just turn off lethality in settings if you are playing with no-shield faction or something

The Perseus legacy seems remarkably suited to Suppiluliuma what with how the Hittite empire worked.

I think the legacy of perseus is a combination of menelaus and hector, combined with additional diplomacy

I haven’t played TW since Rome 2 so need to refresh. I always like to try minor factions but hoping they aren’t too hard.
They play just like the R2 factions,the only thing they're missing are fancy commands,which you can totally do without.

That's actually a VERY good point you make - it's annoying that it's locked behind the ruling title . Titles should be open to anyone!

@@ReptilicusTV I didn't play Pharaoh pre patch, so I can't really compare, but it does seem insane. I know total war games always have anti player bias, but they're able to create way higher tier units and way more units than they should be able to. I started a new campaign and if it happens again I might just have to wait for a patch.

Haha oh man I wish 😂 there;s a lot more guides planned - as for your archer ammo,tell me which faction are you playing ? Sea people have plenty of ammo increases,as do Egyptians if you build Set shrines ( as an example)

my assyrian ruler died in the 10th turn :'(
took probably an arrow to the face . i ordered his chariots to charge , looked away 5 seconds then looked back and it was a junkyard of destroyed chariots

Do you need to be at good terms with enemies lol or do you need to be a major faction? Because rn with Achilles im warring with Athens and i took both of their regions but they still wont want to become vassal when we make peace and i offer them their territories back.
Are the settlements low in value or with ruined buildings ? The AI values damaged settlements less / if you've previously vassalised someone in the recent turns it'll also lower the acceptance.
@@ReptilicusTV no its both settlements just east of Athens (food and stone one).. i ended up just conquering Athens though but i would really like to learn to vassalize someone but i guess its harder with minor factions

If you call this amazing wait till you see a recording of someone with a better graphics card :D I'm using the camera option,before you start a battle/during,you can press escape and go to a sort of photo mode where you can adjust the lighting,filters etc..it gives you a mod-like experience without needing to install graphic mods like for Rome 2

AI archers can easily be made useless by having a frontline of 100% block chance (most Spearmen reach it when in Spear Wall formation) absorb all the ammo. As long as you don’t engage their melee units, the AI will in most cases just plink away.
Massed Javelines probably made charriots obsolete btw.
So I am playing a campaign as Ramesses and I don't know how can you get a faction to become your vassal? I only have an option to become myself a vassal to the pharaoh. Do I need to be the pharaoh to have vassals or it's something else?
Yeah you need to be a contender to be able to make vassals.

How do you get flaming arrows?
ALL the old factions and native rosters have them,they forgot to add them for the new ones lmao,so you have to be a bit creative and grab some older units which isn't hard OR let's say you are king of Hanigalbat,recruit great mitanni chariots,they automatically have flaming ammo. There's probably another workaround that i gotta get down to.
So, it always confused me a bit with Pharaoh that melee attack can't be increased by your general, yet Melee Defense/charge can. I read through the Wiki a bit to try to learn the Game and the ingame Wiki clearly states "Presence increases melee Attack and morale at milestone points", yet it only increases morale. A bug?
I wouldn't be surprised tbh,there's a lot of bugs/inconsistencies across the game.
Way stations refunding 50% of movement speed didn't seem to be working when i played. Does anybody know if the bug is fixed yet ?
Don’t try the Elamites on Veteran mode, it’s a nightmare. I think I’m gonna try it again not that I lost per se but I could’ve done things a lot better.
Elam requires careful planning for sure on higher difficulty,everyone's out to get you! They just don't understand true chad Elamite culture ;(
@@ReptilicusTV 3 factions attacked me, I managed to destroy their armies, one agreed to peace after enough armies got lost. Another faction I took their city and traded back in exchange for peace. But at that point I had to delete my second army due to lack of bronze to trade for. My main army was up river and the final enemy had landed a large army, and right then Ur declared war. I haven’t played since, but will try to see if it’s really game over. Should have become a Babylonian vassal when I had the chance!
@@ReptilicusTV I think my main mistake was not conquering the northern friendly state when I had the chance. You just need to go on the offensive, there is no chilling in Pharaoh

Archers aren't broken I don't think. One needs to take their lethality into consideration. Fighting in forests, harassing them and flanking them is the way to go. It's pretty nice to have terrain actually affect the outcomes of battles.

How do you farm ancillaries for Perseus?
There's a few ways ,off the top of my head here :
- Spam battles
- Gold amongst the bronze research
- General traits/ some god specific prayers
- buildings ( this is if you are a mad lad and take Perseus as the Assyrians,they have a unique building chain that spawns generals with chariots)
First advice: forget about diplomacy; it's a disaster, nothing makes sense, betrayal is the norm.
Second advice: dont rush the campaign, dont invade two regions (Greece, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Turkey) at the same time.
Third advice: dont make crazy sacrifices to reach a coastal region. There are no ports to build, no trade that continuously flows like in older games, nothing special, and vulnerable to frequent invasions.
Four advice: forget about the vassals system; useless.
Fifth advice: marry your generals, sons and daughters with good partners.
Sixth advice: gold, gold, gold... necessary to keep your armies alive and built key buildings in an instant.
Seven advice: archer cavalry is lethal and faster unit in the game. No unit can defeat it unless another archer cavalry unit. Faster than infantry and chariots, stronger than regular cavalry by far.
Eight advice: build (advanced outposts) commerce buildings (10% increase of everything), sanctuaries that offer manpower and happiness, and lookout towers/forts.
Nine advice: catch peoples of the sea at sea, you will be forcing them to fight on a beach against the sea with a big advantage.
What does it mean when a faction has "Aegean Royal Tradition"?
It means they're in the Aegean royal court,basically prefering to play with the Greek/Trojan legacies and stuff.

I mean I agree that the Perseus Legacy is fun and broken but that kinda makes it not immersive lol. Recruiting high tier archers from other factions anywhere when your whole deal is having elite melee but low ranged is not really immersive.
It's immersive from a vassal/diplomacy PoV,especially if you're playing a faction that historically ruled mostly through vassal kingdoms and branches of the royal family ( Hittites,f.e.)

I hate lethality and ranged+fodder meta. AI spamming split armies of chariots and javelins to get most lethality for itself is ridiculous.
yeah javs needed minor quality of life fixes like a firing arc bugfix or movespeed,NOT to machine gun down armies in a sec xd

Yeah,the previous version just made it less satisfying visually-you could fire 4 volleys into a low tier with deceng shield/armor without killing a single model. 4 volleys with a t4and above bow The damage was there,the HP distribution combined with armor deg wasn't *feeling*good for a lot of players.

The buildings were shown there in the growth province example,just pause the video andl ook when it's mouse overed,but a more detailed one is incoming.
