This is how I found your channel, from the first review many years ago. This beer is in a class of it's own, and deserves to be reviewed again for the thousands of new subscribers you have obtained. While there are many weiss beers, the Vitus has a strong and bold flavor that will always stand the test of time and remain enjoyable. Keep rockin' the long hair! Cheers.
You have a £10 in your pocket and are in Sainsbury’s -5 bottles of 500ml weihebstephaner or 12 300ml cat piss bottles of bud?! People never cease to amaze me
Here in Midwest America, one 500ml bottle costs 5 USD! Still absolutely worth it though. My state (Indiana) has fairly strong Germanic roots, so German beers aren’t too hard to come by luckily. Best beers in the world. My favorite is Paulaner’s Hefeweizen
I am drinking one of these now. I was thinking, this beer is bloody incredible. I searched UA-cam to see what you thought about it, what a great beer!…Sam✌️
I visited the Weihenstephaner pub 10 years ago in München words cannot describe the beer or the atmosphere truly an amazing historical building and of course legendary beers. Just go there if you are beer drinker.
I just tried the Hefe Weissbier 6 pack in glass bottles. Simply AWESOME. Ultra smooth, Better than ANYTHING sold in America. Finishes very well with a slight sweetness, I couldn't ask for a better beer. Paulaner would be next in line but this.....TOP NOTCH!!
First time we drank this Beer was in Tucson Arizona...yes believe it or not in the middle of the Sonora Desert...there are about $5 for 1/2 Liter bottle.....Arab grocery store that stocks many Euro food products sells ice cold 1/2 Liter ( called a Tall Boy) for $3.50 ...the World 🌎 best beer 🍺
Bloody hell! Talk about the Cosmic Unconsciousness! I literally bought two bottles of this last week. Amazing beer! And I severely recommend going to the actual brewery near Munich, that was an abbey and now a brewery and a university.. Try their breakfast beers! ❤️🙂 And that is a thousand years of beer craft in a bottle..
Vitus is truly a great beer. Three of my top beers are from Germany, and two of those are brewed by Weihenstephan (Hefeweissbier and Vitus) and the third is Spaten Premium Lager. Germany has a tremendous beer-making tradition with none of that carbonated grapefruit juice masquerading as beer nonsense you get in American Craft beer.
I am drinking my 2nd bottle right now of Vitus(tried the it for the first time some months ago, love it.I usually only drink once a in while,Stella Artois,Asahi,Sapporro and now Vitus will be in my circle of once in a while drink an alcoholic beverage.
Currently drinking it. Such a wonderful balance between bitterness, citrussy goodness and sweetness. A lot of tartness on the palate - orange and lemon hard candy. Brings to mind bitter Seville orange marmalade too. Of course, there's the standard cloves and banana peel thing going on too. Pretty fantastic stuff.
Simon, you could do a battle between the various Bavarian weissen bock beers. For what it's worth, I like Erdinger's best. You also have that Aventinus stuff
Love your reviews and agree with your opinion and your passion..it's been a while since I've had a Vitus as they are a little on the expensive side but I remember them very fondly so I'm definitely going to purchase one very soon.
I had a weihenstephaner in the bankers cat in leeds (thornbridge brewery pub) about 5.5% can't remember if it was a waissbier but it was really good and only £5 a pint if I remember right so need a bottle of this. Recommend a drink in The Bankers Cat if you are round leeds city centre simon 👍
Such a glowing review for the Vitus that I have to try this one asap. I used to drink Maisel`s weissbier on draft at The Wellington in B`ham which I couldn`t imagine could be bettered....what a gorgeous beer for a summer thirst quencher, perhaps this Weihenstephaner is the one to do it. Great review which has made my mouth water, thanks & cheers!
This is the best beer review ever, that must have been his second one. I love weizenbier & wit beers so I'll have to find this one. My favourite so far is Tripel Karmeliet
yeah if i remember correctly, reinheitsgebot came about to prohibit wheat specifically because brewers were hogging it all and there wasn't enough for people to make bread...but the king allowed wheat for a brewery or two so he could get his fix lol
This beer is a planet treasure. There is no beer like this. Almost always have one.I drunk one on Saturday and the next will be in the middle of the week which I will combine it with one of the greatest movies''Druk'' or ''drunk''.
Bought some a few days ago at our local supermarket (OK supermarket, Kanazawa, Yokohama) for our homestyle Oktoberfest party next weekend, for not a lot of money - like two quid a bottle, along with a jar of sauerkraut, sausage and mustard. Really looking forward to next weekend now. Cheers! :)
It is my absolutely favorite beer i have ever drank. Not talking about their Weißbier, not talking about their Lager beer... im talking about "Vitus". I have never drank a more refreshing and better tasting summer beer in my life. It is just amazing. But.. it is REALLY hard to find. Even in Munich you can't buy it anywhere almost.. PS: I forgot to mention i drank A LOT of different high quality beers around the world. Not an alcoholic though :D
weihenstephaner could take Europe if they wanted to, their pils/lagers are better than other countries, all of them. But they can't be arsed. If you go to Germany and to some beer centers (not pubs), you can buy a crate of a weihenstepher beer for about 20 quid, and all bottles are half a litre. It's just perfect. But the experience is really for Germany. Which is why I drive over the border from time to time :D
Can you re-review the whole line up of these beers again please mate. I remember a really hoppy flavoured one with a green label that was incredible when I first drank it about 10 years ago following your review.
Saw that in a bottle shop on Friday and was going to buy it, wish i had now. Picked up a bottle of Hofbrau Original instead which totally underwhelmed me.
I’m very lucky I live in Downham Market Norfolk. I live about 20 mins from beers of Europe if that. So I fill my trolley with all that kind of beer. Amazing place. And that is a amazing beer your right.
It's beer o'clock in St. Petersburg:: 10 / 10 AGREED. On the downside unfortunately after 4 of them you really must find your way home. This stuff is not at all any 4.4% or so....STONE THE CROWS Paul
I'm tempted to have a drink of that, based on the recommendation of Simon, a drinks expert. At that ABV%, perhaps 2 bottles, at most three, would suit me, for an evening in, with a meal and listening to my fav records
Interestingly enough, Vitus isn't actually that old of a beer/label, being one of their newest beers. From what I remember, one of their old head brewers, Frank (I think it was), really wanted to or was asked to develop and make it. And this is what he came up with. I've been lucky enough to have a couple of sessions with him years ago.
Love watching your reviews Simon please shave your hair to a number 1 through 4,all im looking at is your hair. Been there done that myself mind you,so its not hate in any way shape or form its just you look a million times better with short hair.
7.7% ha girls beer , joking . Some that strength are too strong but my fav of all time is , Gouden Carolus Christmas ale , 10.5% . But varies from year to year so be careful . First two years I tried were sublime then next two seemed like sugar water .
Not tried the Vitus before but I'm going to have to now! However the hefe weissbier is the best you can get from a supermarket in the UK in my opinion. We're lucky to have an option like that so easily obtainable.

Lucky to get 5 bottles of W. More like 4 for a tenner.
Your state has strong Germanic Lasses too. They go great with the beer.
where i live these are 5 USD a bottle lol

Vitus is one of my old-time favorites. I treat myself with a 500ml bottle every couple of months or so. It never disappoints.

I went to the Weihenstephan Brewery once and remember sitting in their biergarten drinking Korbinian
I once asked Simon in the Stone Crowe Virtual Pub what his favorite German beer was and this is the beer he said.
Vitus and Aventinus shares the gold medal in wheat beer for me!
Absolutely amazing. The Hefeweissbier is another one on the same level. They are both the best.
I've had that many times. All their beers are excellent.

I picked this up today from “the bottle shop” in penarth si. I have to agree it is one of the finest weissbier I have ever had. Outstanding!
I'm sold. Will pick some up tomorrow! 🍻 Curiosity is forcing me to buy it! 🍻

Weissbier has to be my biggest guilty pleasure, I've got to give this one a definite go 🍻

I had two now , great and $ 18.90 for a six pack of 11.2 onz . I include this in my top ten. Pilsner Urquell still my # 1.
Agreed. And the fact that you can get it for the fraction of the price of other craft beers just makes it that much better. Amazing beer.
Looks ace, just ordered some.
Have to try again, I thought it was concentrated and a bit sweet, still enjoyed. Have to try during Winter.
Funny. I'm sitting here drinking a Budvar and thinking of opening my last Vitus in the fridge. Nice shirt!
I am always amazed what the Germans can do with the Reinheitsgebot. It blows my mind how many flavors they can create without crazy additives.
Wheat beer doesn't come under the Reinheitsgebot, it was one of the two beers that weren't subject to it along wtih Gose.

Used to get Weihenstephaner Vitus in the Detroit area for about 10 bucks a six pack in 2020.
That makes me sad. It’s $4.29 a pint bottle here.
Sounds amazing, ordered!
I've had the original a few times with the blue label- pretty nice, when you're in the mood for something with a big flavour.
