Austin, you are such an incredible inspiration. Watching you tackle the crazy shit that comes up in a restoration. Just really enjoy everything you do. You are such a craftsman. Can't wait for the next video.
Glad to hear that you are going with Raptor liner. I was thinking that was the way to go in the beginning of this build. Raptor liner will cover and hide the imperfections on the surfaces, be very durable and look good all at the same time. Not that expensive either.
I just wanted to say I've been watching your videos for few years. I tdi swapped my 4runner because of your red toyota. I've enjoyed watching your fj get restored. Your videos and content are top notch in my opinion.
Austin, your work is second to none. The amount of attention to detail is overflowing. Keep doing what you do, this just not inspire but motivate a lot to have an imesurable amount of patience and passion in everything that you do. Looking forward to your next video. Start strong finish strong🤙🏼
Looks great... one step closer. The rollcage may hide the spot in the liner. I do like the black and you can't go wrong with the Raptor Liner. Hopefully you have plans for a cargo basket down the road. This is going to be a great rig . Be fun to see the color you choose. Regardless if you use a base coat clear coat or Raptor Liner. I hope you choose a really different...unexpected... color. Well as always looking forward to seeing what's next.
Looks good. 😎 Much better than when you started. After all, it’s not a concourse restoration, it’s a wheeler. I like the red and black. Red Raptor liner maybe? 🤷♂️
That’s a rugged vehicle it deserves a a durable paint job and raptor liner fits the bill for the FJ40 .. a gray color would look good with the black top .. 👍
@@austinniemelaI’d definitely not recommend painting the body in raptor tho, ideally I’d want to see it in a nice gloss grey with a clear wrap to protect it from scratches etc
If you plan on running with the hard top on in the summer the heat the black roof will create Sauna #2 for you. I have a 65' FJ40 and took the top off every chance I could. I have been restoring mine since 2006 LONG project 85% done but the last 15% might be the end of me.
Austin, tell your brother to use the same method of clearing air out of the shop with a fan pointed outdoors. I know some of the chemicals he uses is bad for you. All he needs is a big harbor freight chicken fan at the bottom of his garage door while painting
Man I enjoy watching your videos. You are a very talented person. I’m so amazed at your dedication and determination to make something as perfect as you can. Keep up the great videos and projects and before you know it this one will be completed.
I wa skeptical when you said you were gonna do the roof black, but i was really off the mark. It looks great and it does look lower on the body. Great jon Austin !
Doing great work bro really enjoying the build but your videos always seem very dark not sure if it’s your camera settings or what just curious if you could adjust that a little
I think the reason most people hate on raptor liner, Is because there are so many people who use it to try to cover up crappy work or to mask problems. Definitely not what you are using it for, I think its turning out great.
Make sure to wear a respirator when sanding fiberglass, or any composite for that matter. You don't want that in your lungs, you can do some serious damage.
Damn brother is there anything you can’t do. Fiberglass is not easy to make look good big props to you. Happy new year bro this build is coming along beautifully.
Always great watching your videos when they drop. On the roll cage design why don't you try and line up one of the hoops to cover the fault in the roof lining!! Cheers from Sydney Australia.
I had a 61 series 2 Land Rover with the rare in the US double skinned tropical top. Best top ever except a bunch of wasps decided to live in it one year.
Those are stress cracks on the fiberglass…. Anytime you have cracks like the one in the front you should always grind the crack out to remove the contaminant that is in the fibers before you repair it
Hello sir. Looking to buy a used 1979 fiberglass cap for my 1969 Fj-40. Do you know if all fiberglass caps are compatible with the rest of the hardtop footprint? I have the drip edge/everything but the cap. :)
Austin, you are such an incredible inspiration. Watching you tackle the crazy shit that comes up in a restoration. Just really enjoy everything you do. You are such a craftsman. Can't wait for the next video.
Thank you! Yeah it’s always something new with this build!

Yes it’s the best of all worlds!!

I think a maroon / purple raptor line would look great , the color of your flatbed Toyota
Can't wait to see the next video
The day will be all better now
I’m hoping for black or green camo paint job or wrap! Looking good either way, HNY!
The white roof is iconic! But stoked to see it nonetheless.

Yea I think raptor liner fits the build!!

My son and I always look forward to your videos! "Hey dad, Austin has a new video!"
Love the black roof.

Nice. Can’t wait for the body to get done and painted.
I like the black.repair work is solid. Well done mate.

Great work on the fj. Paint it the stock red but satin the paint for a flat look. Love the black and red.
Amazing WORK ❤️ 👍🏼
The black top looks so much better! Great work!
That paper trick is genius!
I wa skeptical when you said you were gonna do the roof black, but i was really off the mark.
It looks great and it does look lower on the body.
Great jon Austin !
Thank you!!
Paint the top middle section white to reflect heat but blacken the parts that you can see. I live in TX n our mindset is to reflect sunlight n heat.
Doing great work bro really enjoying the build but your videos always seem very dark not sure if it’s your camera settings or what just curious if you could adjust that a little
I think that car looks amazing in red and black
Amazing work as always, you could try ironing the headliner to try and get rid of the crease
I think the reason most people hate on raptor liner, Is because there are so many people who use it to try to cover up crappy work or to mask problems. Definitely not what you are using it for, I think its turning out great.
I completely agree! And it gets a bad name because people don't know how to properly prep for paint!!
استمر ايها البناء الفنان المذهل....معزتي للمخلصين
Very nice, all your work looks really good.keep it up 👍👍👍😎😎😎
As lomg as you make rear overfenders I'm happy with the rest of thr project 😁

The roof looks amazing.
Thank you!

Завидую твоему терпению, удачи в проектах.
Air hammer and a bucking bar is how you can set the rivits if dont have a pneumatic rivit squeezer

Appreciate you saying sauna correctly. Not “saw-nah” like city ppl say. Cheers from the U.P. of Michigan
Haha I love it! People try to correct me all the time! Us Finns pronounce in different than city folk!
@@austinniemela that’s awesome! 80% of the ppl where I live are Finn!
Would like to see OD Green for the body. Maybe tan.

Amazing work…love watching you and your brother Devin…keep up the awesome work
Thank you!!
The "paint" is actually gelcoat I think. Basically epoxy... very tough.
well done hope you had a great christmas!
Nice work!!!!
Looking awesome!
Great job!
I could smell this whole episode…. I absolutely hate the smell of fiberglass work 🤣
Happy birthday Austin! Happy new year as well

Looks good
That liner is really difficult to pull off perfectly by yourself
You’re a G! Looks freaking awesome!
watching from Philippines❤❤❤
More video's of your normal life like te sawna and that stuff😍😍😍😍
You should make a plug for the roof and lay down some carbon fiber instead of FG
Happy near year. Happy birthday
Good job
Happy new year austin keep up the good work!!!!!🍾🍾
What did you use for the headliner ?
Love your videos❤ keep it up👍
great joob!👍

This is going to be so sweet!! Love it!

What kind of adhesive do you use on interior projects like this and the Hilux black quilted door panels?
👍👍👍👍
You can stretch the roof with a steamer.

The roof liner need to be redone.

Happy late birthday

😎 wuz up🤪
Happy New Year 🎊 and Happy birthday 🎉🎂
At about 10:40 you are using some kind of putty on the roof. What is that?
*Suzuki Carry* Suzuki Cary Suzuki Carry!!!!!!!
Front grill is so small im worried about your radiator air flow.
What is that camera you are wearing on your head?
Just a GoPro!
Please Don't raptor coat this one, it deserve's a proper 2k paint. :D
I think he plans to rock crawl with this one. Could be wrong but that would be a waste of a paint job
Please don't raptor line the entire vehicle. I've yet to see a vehicle it looks on, especially a classic FJ.
