- West Ham has secured the signature of Brazilian wonderkid Luis Guilherme, beating some of the biggest clubs in world football! Scouts from Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Chelsea have monitored Palmeiras' latest prodigy over the past nine months. Real Madrid and Barcelona also showed interest, but it was Tim Steidten, West Ham United’s technical director, who convinced Guilherme to join the east London Premier League club for £25m.
This deal is a massive feather in the cap for West Ham and Tim Steidten's scouting team in Brazil. The contrast between this well-executed transfer and the hurried mess of the Kalvin Phillips deal in January could not be more stark.
Thiago Ferri, a journalist covering Palmeiras, and Palmeiras’ youth director, Joao Paulo Sampaio, share their insights on Guilherme's potential. Despite some risks in signing an unproven prospect, Guilherme's talent and West Ham's support system could see him develop into a great player over time.

We as a club and I’m sure they will, need to help him adapt. I’ve a 17 year old son and thinking of him moving to Brazil wouldn’t be easy. Food, language, culture everything. So special effort from us as fans when he takes to the pitch too and let him have time.

Well done to Steidten for selling this “project” to these players, I just wish he would describe in full the “project” to us, their paying customers.

It's very positive that Tim has identified and secured a highly rated young prospect from Brazil. I think Tim and JLo are already showing evidence that transfer windows will be more efficient. I don't think many agents would have advised a player to go to a circus like Chelsea. Finances are looking uncertain in Spain also. Munich could offer CL but how many mins is a 18yr old gonna get in the CL. West Ham seems a good fit for him. If he gets to train with the likes of Paq then the skies the limit for the kid. We just need to give him time. He's obviously smart, not signing for a small club like Spurs.

The title of the video is a bit misleading. You can hardly beat “giants” if they don’t actually bid for the player in question. And I’ve seen no reports to suggest they actually did make a bid. We did, and Tim got the deal all wrapped up, which is great. Hopefully this kid will make an impact and go on to be a great player for the club. ⚒️👏🏻

Liverpool had been looking at him for a year last year but once klopp said he was leaving, they stopped scouting him coz they wanted to work out whatever the new manager wanted in his signings apparently from what i read.....so we didnt beat them off as such.
but still a good signing, and one for the future, and even if he doesnt do well, we should make a profit to new signings, its what we should have done for years.....the red bull & leverkusen model, buy young, and sell big

I have told you how highly he is rated, and I had laughter, emoji replies . This kid has what it takes to become one of the best players in the world. My nephew is married to a Brazilian woman, so I know a lot about the boy anyway
You just know (I think) that we’re moving in a better direction - just hope that the club backs Tim and Lop

I think it makes a real difference when you’ve got a Spanish speaker managing players from Latin America. Despite the Brazilians speaking Portuguese the languages are similar enough that they can communicate with each other in something closer to their native language. I’m sure Lopetegui knows some basic Portuguese and the Brazilians will be much better at speaking Spanish. Talking from experience having lived and worked in Latin America for a year and my girlfriend is Latina. There’s something in their blood that connects them in a way that Northern Europeans will never understand. Pep Guardiola gets the best out of his Latin stars for the same reason. It’s like Alex Ferguson managing all the young British Man Utd academy players too, if they had had a foreign manager during that period, they wouldn’t have had the same success.
I actually believe that if we can get a champions league spot I think we can be there on a regular basis...until then we will have our best players leave..but when we do make it for the first time we're there always

Not sure we beat them, if they came with an offer we wouldn’t have got him, but we got in and got the deal done so fair play..
I want to see him get minutes for the 1st team but they should also give him minutes in the 21's so that he can develop some friendships with lads of his age. That'll also help him settle in and may rub off on some of our lads too. Exciting times....!

Isn't about time to throw some positivity and praise at David Sullivan? If all the negative comments about Sullivan were to be believed, why would Steidten be there? It really throws bad light on both Steidten and Lopetegui for them to want to work with Sullivan if he was as bad as he is often portrayed and yet when positive things happen he seems to never get the praise. There is a real toxic bias that has no foundation whatsoever.
