We have really enjoyed miacademy online. Its so engaging and video lessons are short and sweet to the point and all work is graded and done online. Much more engaging than anything else we’ve tried. I like the flexible parent scheduling stuff on the back end which helps me cut out or add to any thing i want to assign him. All subjects for one monthly price, cancel anytime. Its got so much to choose from. Im really impressed with the high quality short teaching videos in every subject.
Glad you like it so much :)
The question is which is the most affordable?
Thanks for including us in this! Great list 🤩
You deserve to be included 💗
Thank you for this video. Do you have any suggestions for an online math curriculum video. I’d love to watch that
Ohhh...I should do that! Thanks. I will put it down for a video to write and then film :)
So far I have been using Khan Academy and my kids love it.
I just learn about a good free math program called Zearn
We use Khan academy and we find it sufficient.
Teaching textbooks for math is wonderful!!
Hi Rebecca, new subscriber here. I was wondering what you recommend for a child who is dyslexic? I’m between Abeka and Time4learning at the moment. Thanks!
Hi there, thanks for subbing! It really depends on what type of special needs child you have...are they the sort that do well with lots of structure? If so, they'll like Abeka. If not, go with something else. I've filmed a video on SN choices, but it's in the process of being edited...which could take a while as I'm sick at the moment! But, I've written a thorough blog about it (Which is basically the script for the video) here: www.homeschoolcurriculum101.com/blog/10-best-homeschooling-special-needs-curriculum-picks
I hope it helps :) It should at least give you a better idea :) Abeka is Christian btw and Time4Learning is secular. As such, I would always go with a Christian choice...something that talks about Jesus gives kids hope.
@@howtohomeschool I love how you answered this, and yes, I totally agree. We want to talk about Jesus! I will check out your blog now. Thanks!
Have you ever used and of Greg Landry's self-paced courses? If so, how was it?
Yes I have. But, I only reviewed it myself. I really loved his manner and way of speaking. He was also very gentle when he presented things. I would use it with my high schoolers definitely. I think it's such a shame his front-page is a bit of a trainwreck. It's so uninviting. But, it's a really good course.
What about MiaPrep or Mia Academy online? It has a Biblical studies offering but still trying to find out if it’s Christian based.
It's secular. I think their Bible offerings are a way to get Christians in. That would put me off as a Christian I think.
Thank you ☺️ I agree!
@@howtohomeschoolGreetings! Any thoughts on Ignite Christian Academy?
Have you reviewed portals academy? Another Christian one I am looking at. Thank you as always.
You know, I've never heard of them! I'll take a look now.
I can't find any reviews of them that are independant of the website itself. But it looks like its used in schools as well, so it would be a full curriculum I suspect which is good.
Have you yourself ever used Greg Landry's online science courses? If so, how was it for your family?
Yes I have. But, I only reviewed it myself. I really loved his manner and way of speaking. He was also very gentle when he presented things. I would use it with my high schoolers definitely. I think it's such a shame his front-page is a bit of a trainwreck. It's so uninviting. But, it's a really good course.
@@howtohomeschool Thanks. I can't seem to get a response from that company. No one avalialbe to answer questions so it's hard to want to pay for something with no customer service. if you ever learn more about Greg Landrys science, please share on one of your videos. thank you
I am visually impaired and unable to grade papers or look at stuff on the computer. My son is going to eighth grade and has been in a private Christian school that teaches with Abeka curriculum since third grade. Can anyone suggest the best completely online homeschooling curriculum? Thank you all so much in advance.
This was great, thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
What is a good reading program for kids not interested in reading?
Ohhh...I used to recommend Reading Eggs but it's terribly woke so I don't now. Have you looked at Phonics Museum? You can also wait a while and have a break. See if they come back to it with renewed interest...
@@howtohomeschool
“Woke”? What do you mean by that?
@@jgarvin6she probably doesn’t know either. Its a republican term they just toss around
which curriculum did you go through?
We're using BJU Press online teacher led video lessons. When I was a little kid there weren't many choices. We used Abeka (teacher's manuals...not recommended - i mean the teacher's manual choice) and Rod and Staff (which is a great choice).
Is there a program that just offers grammar , reading comprehension, vocabulary and spelling. We are homeschooling next year and our co op covers science and history so I don’t need a full program.
Something that is just like teaching textbooks but is just language.
Yes, I think most of these would. But you'd have to just buy that portion of it. Some you wouldn't be able to split the subjects up because they come as a package such as Monarch. But others you can like Abeka and BJU Press.
The good and the Beautiful
Yes, that's another option. As a Christian though it's not my first choice.
Why is there a specific emphasis on religious home schools???? Not everybody is religious or Christian to that extent.
Jesus is the best news ever. And that's what makes these choices the best in my eyes. I just can't bring myself to present programs that steer people away from Jesus as being good options. Have you heard about his wonderful work on the cross for all sinners? He brings peace and forgiveness to whoever asks for it. God bless, friend.
You should change your name to howtohomeschoolwithjesus@@howtohomeschool
And there are MANY secular programs to suit your preference. There are people who prefer a Christian program too. No need to be like that.
@@howtohomeschoolbeautiful answer
Miacademy
Yes, that one has become popular for online curriculum options.
@@nope-nh4zf Miacademy is a secular program. They have a Bible unit, but not sure how good it is. It is quite a 'let your kids go' program, but it's not accredited. So, if you don't mind that it's secular, it can be a good one. Try it out for a month and see how it goes. Accredited ones include BJU Press, Abeka Academy, Ignite Christian Academy and others howdoihomeschool.com/accredited-homeschool-curriculum-programs/ There are also open and go ones your kids can do themselves. If you like online, go for Monarch homeschool (cheap because it's not accredited, so pretty good), or offline is Lifepac which are workbooks the kids can do themselves entirely (so long as they can read). Are you looking for secular or Christian choices more?
@@howtohomeschool We recently dabbled in MiAcademy, and the "Bible" course was awful. None of the presenters could pronounce the books of the bible, and that alone was a huge con. I don't want my kids sounding biblically ignorant despite being biblically literate 😂
@@nguyenagain7897thank you for that! I was wondering.
@@howtohomeschool do you have recommendations for heavy engaging video Christian homeschool curriculum? (Abeka would not be engaging and BJUHomesat-tho I love- is still too much for a friend of mine who is in dire need of finding something.
