I also did a first race in the rain at the end of 2023 and there were actual streams running across the track and huge puddles and heavy rain I spun out a heap of times didn’t crash though , it scared the shit out of me
Damn. Yeah that sounds super sketch! Race 1 (which I got terrible footage off) was way more wet but still no streams. And man, spinning at Watkins without crashing is impressive, almost impossible ha
hey man, have you ever tried running hankook ventus z207? I run those on my k24 ek hatch in the wet and the sheer grip and handling is crazy good, they are a bit pricey brand new but it gives a massive advantage in the wet.
Are those slicks? Not familiar with those. Unfortunately, our series is limited to 200 tw tires so the best legal rain tires are actually all seasons believe it or not. The Continental ExtremeContact Sports, Michelin pilots and similar are top performers in moderate to heavy rain races.
@@EricKutilRacing yeah they are basically the counterpart to the full slicks except they have grooves in them for the wet. Since they're a medium compound full wet tyre, they pump out so much water at higher pressures which makes them so good. Looks like you were running really well in the rain up against some of the other guys with ABS, I understand the struggle in the wet without it haha!
Nope you're right, I didn't have abs while mostly everyone around me had it. Watkins is pretty dangerous in brake zones because if you lock up, its pretty much guaranteed you'll end up in the wall
Nice work in the rain.by chance did you practice on this track in the sim first? Curious if the braking points turn in points are somewhat similar to a sim like acc or iracing.
I haven't practiced sim racing a while but yeah, I played a lot of Watkins on iracing. I've also raced here in scca a few times. One of my favorite tracks for sure
Nice man. Watkins Glen trips me up on sim because it's a med slow in super fast out track lol. I sent you a dm on IG about an interview opportunity btw. Wishing you the best for 2024
How did you downshift in the very first corner? I noticed you downshift and the revs go up but you never took your foot off the brake. I rewound like 8 times and just cant comprehend. Are you just letting the clutch out and forcing it to do the work itself? Just confused because normally i would think you would heel-toe but you never hit the throttle. Great race though i have been to Watkins many times to watch since i used to live about 30 minutes from there!
The haltech ecu has auto blip enabled. Hit the brake, ecu reads brake pressure and activates at a certain value once clutch is pressed, then the drive by wire throttle body automatically blips.
Bloody brilliant race.... Those last few corners were a nailbiter.... Good run.
Thanks man! Yeah I was reeling them in pretty quick but then the local yellows made things a bit awkward
Great Racing that last lap !

@@EricKutilRacing my race was at sandown raceway in melbourne australia , im sure watkins glen is wild ive only driven it on granturismo haha
Ahh gotcha!
First time in your videos that the VTEC is so loud and clear, since you're running on lower RPMs thanks to the slippery track, loved it!.
Haha yeah! Gotta keep that traction will low rpm
Its cool seeing this race from your perspective. I'm gonna be uploading Swenson's full Race 2 soon!
Yeah. I had a pretty slow start mainly due to lack of confidence without ABS, but I figured it out.
First comment from Australia it’s 1am here and I gotta work tomorrow
Ayyy! Nice ha
Love Watkins Glen (on forza in my Bclass s2k 😂) epic track..epic car 🔰👌💯 honda lurrrrve 👏
Thanks man! Watkins is my favorite track hands down
@@EricKutilRacing always an epic drive from you too man 👏💪💯 hopefully it will be dry for next time you're there. Same tracks in 2024 season?
Unfortunately not Watkins for 2024 but I'm looking forward to the next time for sure
@@EricKutilRacing im sure whatever tracks you're at it will be a quality watch here. All the best for this season dude 💯💪🏆
These races are so competitive its crazy, the rain seems stressful tho
Yeah, that was a wild weekend! Pushing the limits on a wet Watkins with this competition is intense
Sucks it was raining. Also sucks Gridlife isnt going to Watkins this year😢. But hopefully will get to see you in action at Lime Rock

What are you running for a camera mount? It’s always a solid video. Looking to mount my camera in the EG hatch for some racing in the NY area.
It's an IO port camera mount onto my roll cage
Is it just me or were you braking a bit early compared to the others? The sound is just fantastic👌
Nope you're right, I didn't have abs while mostly everyone around me had it. Watkins is pretty dangerous in brake zones because if you lock up, its pretty much guaranteed you'll end up in the wall
@@EricKutilRacingyeah just noticed the lockups in the 2nd part of the race. Having no abs is a valid excuse😅.

Up too slow acceleration hood race tho
Dam dude , mad driving skills, wat tire set up for wet conditions? Apex very slippery 😮
It's in the description. 225/45R17 Continental ExtremeContact Sport 340tw all seasons
