STOP. I have been binging your videos all day and all night... I haven't even slept yet.. And you release fall book recommendations NOW ?!? AHHH LOVEEE
I love to see another book-tuber who gets their books from the library! Also, you have such good taste and I'm definitely adding some of your recommendations to my TBR list.
This channel is such a gem. I love your commentary, your vibe and I love that you are more about actually reading the books and not going shopping to buy said books 👌
Recovering from wisdom teeth surgery right now, found you earlier this morning while loopy as fuck and now you live in my brain because of that. Sorry for that, I’ll try and make it nice and cozy in there for you. Protect you from the horrors and such. I’ve been watching your videos all day and I love them :)
holy moly OUT is my favorite book!! never seen anyone on booktube talk about it. natsuo kirino in general writes really disgusting and sweaty and sticky fiction with really strong ambiance. amazing
i’m so pumped to read it it sounds like i’m gonna fly through it ! i’ve heard cs0p talk about it but i have no idea which video 😭 i think he had nothing but praise though
“I Who Have Never Known Men” oh my god!!!!!! I read this last year and loved it, but no one else I know has read it so I’m excited to live vicariously through you and your experience of it.
i finished song of solomon last night, i wanted to read it very slowly because toni morrison is also my favorite author and i don’t want to reach the day where i run out of her books, but i couldn’t help myself and finished it one sitting. she painted such a vivid image, when i think back to the story, it plays out like a movie in my head. i felt the despair, the love, the anger, the curiosity- i consider song of solomon a modern odyssey because even in prose it still reads like poetry. i miss the characters so much, i didn’t want to let them go. i’ll shut up now because i don’t wanna accidentally spoil anything but i know you’ll love it 😌
shaking in excitement over u reading severance. from what ive gathered , it is deeply up your alley!!! bliss montage is excellent, those stories stay stuck in my brain after months of reading them
jane eyre is one of my fav books (i read it last year) not sure if ur lucky to read it for school or not (sometimes school kills the vibe yknow) but i hope u enjoy it!!
OMG ALSO JANE EYRE IS SO FIREWEEEE def don’t be intimidated!!! it’s really approachable and funny and surprisingly goes by quite quickly can’t wait to hear ur thoughts!
New fav booktuber. I love your energy and we have the same taste. You crack me up even when I don’t think you’re trying to be funny. You not knowing what any of the books were about was so funny to me.
i havent watched the video yet BUT just wanted to say that i read mostly turkish classics or just classics in general so watching you helps me A LOT by exploring new books!! tysm
@@frankiesshelf okay so i’m not sure which books are translated to english but i know for sure that this one is: -madonna in a fur coat by sabahattin ali there are many modern authors you can read in english like elif şafak, orhan pamuk etc. but for classics i’d recommend anything from: -Yaşar Kemal -Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar -sait faik abasıyanık -reşat nuri güntekin -halid ziya uşaklıgil -peyami safa i know listing authors is not very helpful but i have no idea which ones are translated other than sabahattin ali 😭
I’m dying to hear your reviews of the song of Salomon and my brillant friend!! And thanks for keeping the the format alive it’s cool to read books at the same time
I watch your videos with my notes app open to make reading lists. When I was just starting out as an English major (200 years ago), I read Liars Club at my father’s suggestion and it changed me. You’re going to enjoy it so much- and if you’re ambivalent about poetry, keep going with Mary Karr and check out some of hers. She’s absolutely wonderful. Thanks as always for the reads and have a great beginning to your semester!
really excited to hear your thoughts on Severance as well as Jane Eyre! two of my favorite books ever, i think Jane Eyre is surprisingly relatable for a classic
I live in a country where it’s 90% summer 10% some weird summer where it’s just a bit colder and I still drink tea whenever I want 😅. Love your videos!
Oooh, Heaven! I'm such a slow reader so no matter how small the book is, it takes me ages to be done. But I basically devoured Heaven. It's definitely one of my favourite books of all time!
I'm the same with Just Kids I've tried reading it about 3 separate times, and idk I think maybe it's the first chapter I just cant get through it either. Also, the way you've described Heaven by Mieko Kawakami really makes me think of Abigail by Magda Szabó ! It similarly deals with the vulnerability of being a child around a group of kids who are mean as hell & trying to navigate/survive that lonely experience. its so good.
no way ! i’ve been bingeing your videos since yesterday 🫂 im trying to stop myself because i need to spread them out but then you uploaded, your taste is immaculate ⭐️ also the vegetarian & the outsider is so so good
So many good books. A Certain Hunger was a favorite for me this year. Heaven is brutal, Morrison is a must read. Many others are going on my TBR. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, I _still_ think about Severance😌 Love seeing it on others list, hope you get around to it and enjoy. Your list is amazing-my TBR is ridiculous because of you, lol. Happy Fall 🍂☕️🕯
Our Wives Under the Sea is such a good representation of complicated grief and how everything SUCKS when you're going through it. No one knows how to treat you or help, and you don't either. I put the book on the backburner after a while due to school and was annoyed because the first 60% is vibes (its just a woman talking about her partner) and I wanted to be scared, but it does pick up at the last 40%. I'm happy I finished it. I liked the first 2/3rds or so of The Vegetarian but it completely lost me on the last third section of the book :^(
i picked up Frankenstein because of you (and because i found it in a cool edition, finally) so im excited to get to that! I started Stork Mountain by Miroslav Penkov because his short story collection East of the West is my favorite, most lent and reread book. love ur vibe
I've just discovered your channel and have been binge watching your videos- I love the way you share your thoughts and I find your videos to be so comforting. I'm so happy I found your channel
I think you'll like Our Wives Under the Sea - it's really beautifully written. And it's creepy and it's sad and it's just really lovely. It is a *lot* of vibes but I think there's enough plot to carry you through.
Just found your channel a few days ago and I’m in love with the book recs. lol, I’m also a fall person but I personally love winter the best as I was born in that season. I’m a summer hater and meh spring person. The same when it comes to the summary and no one understands!
I love your energy. I can’t wait to see what you think of bunny, nightbitch and the shards. I was intimidated by the shards but it was all vibes, which I know you want plot more than vibes, but defiantly amazing. I first gave it 4 stars, because of the length BUT six months later I haven’t stopped thinking about it, so I defiantly went back and changed it to a 5.
That is a fantastic Fall list! I read As I Lay Dying for the first time this year. It was my first Faulkner and I loved it. I think about it so often, but it does seem to be a love it or hate it type book. I really need to read more Toni Morrison.
The Shards was amazing!!!! if you do find yourself short on time I would recommend the audiobook version because the author has a very entrancing voice
Im sooo excited to hear your thoughts on Song of Solomon, its the book that made me fall down the Toni Morrison rabbit hole and honestly I think its a perfectly constructed novel
I literally never comment on stuff but i love your voice, and choice in books, you can be recounting the chronology of the freaking Diary of a wimpy kid and i’ll listen with VIGOR
Great tbr, can't wait to watch your reviews. Love Just Kids, and Liar's Club! I decided I'm going to start my Dostoevsky journey with Notes From The Underground too.
OMG! i loved Bunny, I hope you like it. i am reading Ghost Wall for sure this fall (as i plan on going back to my own job as a historical reenactor) and am looking for more books to read as well. love your videos!!!

I do the same thing with summaries...like i never read the full thing or if i do i dont read the book until months later and only have the foggiest vibe of what it is about... but some of them tell you like 3/4 of the book, it ruins the build up! 😅 so many of these overlap with things ive read or are on my tbr list as well, i hope you get to all of them ^-^

It was just so hot last month that i would've loved to call it autumn already but no. I did read Our Wives Under The Sea in September though. For this month I have 10 books I wanna read (2 of them rereads, have read one of em)
i wish i could find more book channels like urs with the same vibe u create. everyone is too energetic for me and i love the coziness you create !!!!!
also this is my sign to read Bunny and Our Wives THANK U FOR THE RECS!
Jordaline is another chill favorite and she’s also hilarious
Chris’ library!
I like csop because he just doesn't give a f, and then this is one of my favourite book channels as well.

I started reading Just Kids on the 1st of January this year, and it has stuck with me ever since… it’s so beautiful and tender, just sooooo good 😫

Wives Under the Sea: 5 stars. Great prose. No disappointments.
I Who have Never Known Men: I just finished this. Best book I'll read in 2024.
Our Wives Under the Sea is one of the best things I've ever read.

i havent watched the video yet BUT just wanted to say that i read mostly turkish classics or just classics in general so watching you helps me A LOT by exploring new books!! tysm
ooh do you have any recommendations for turkish classics? i’m trying to broaden my classic horizons
@@frankiesshelf
okay so i’m not sure which books are translated to english but i know for sure that this one is:
-madonna in a fur coat by sabahattin ali
there are many modern authors you can read in english like elif şafak, orhan pamuk etc. but for classics i’d recommend anything from:
-Yaşar Kemal
-Hüseyin Rahmi Gürpınar
-sait faik abasıyanık
-reşat nuri güntekin
-halid ziya uşaklıgil
-peyami safa
i know listing authors is not very helpful but i have no idea which ones are translated other than sabahattin ali 😭
no that’s so helpful thank you!!
omfg you’re gonna loveeeeee bunny it’s absolutely fantastic!!! also love that u love melissa broder she’s so good I NEED MORE
this is such a sumptuous list. ive been on the fence about reading a lot of these so i cant wait for your thoughts

the liars club is incredible and hilarious! my fav memoir ever ! great vlog!!
East of Eden is my 2nd favorite book of all time. The movie is also really good even if it's very abridged.
Our wives under the sea is so good!
I was scared of Jane Eyre (partially because I didn't love Wuthering Heights) but truly I adored it, and its such a autumn/ winter book!!

YESSS! The Shards was my best read of 2023. Easy 5 Stars.
Song of Solomon is my favorite Morrison. It’s so beautiful

My American brain melted when you said it was 29 degrees because I immediately thought fahrenheit
i forgot my audience is mostly american lmao 😭
Severance is my favorite book ever I’m so excited for you to read it 😊
omg i'm so early, i never clicked this fast on a new video. i just love the way you talk about books 🥹
Im sooo excited to hear your thoughts on Song of Solomon, its the book that made me fall down the Toni Morrison rabbit hole and honestly I think its a perfectly constructed novel

Love these videos, you speak with such enthusiasm.

i tried reading it multiple times
- stopping because it was so goddamn slow
- restarting & always thinking about the novel in the back of my mind: i love love loveeeee the atmosphere of BRET EASTON ELLIS books & the world ambience. it’s basically: bored, rich kids doing drugs in a tight nihilistic city backdrop. his protagonists are always extremely paranoid 24/7
it is a great fucking book though.
don’t let the slowness discourage you.
i love seeing you post i love listening to you talk great video !! :D
This is such a good collection of books!!
I've never watch 'Out' by Natsuo Kirino in any video ;___; I'm so happy because I enjoy so much! I'm excited for you to read 'Heaven' and 'My brilliant friend' because I love them so much,. 'Bear'... also a book i think you would/could like: The Deep by Rivers Solomon! not like a fall rec, it just popped in my head while watching the video lol, it deals w heavy topics tho!
the deep looks so good omg SUCH an imaginative concept
i actually would recommend waiting to read the shards and reading ellis' books more in order, starting with less than zero!
Bear by Marion Engle is a Canadian CLASSIC and I think there are a bunch of holds for it because every lit student who heard about the Man vs Bear thought expreitment had a little Engle shaped light bulb go off in there head
I absolutely HATE the cold and I’m in Africa where I don’t see any snow. The only redeeming quality about winter for me is getting to drink tea anytime I want 😅
