Who else uses Link aggregation in there network?

Doing them with the enterprise XG and Pro Aggregation on the 25g ports seeing 50G connections is ''fun''
I also have other devices from ui but those are behind nda but.. yeah you can probably tell where those aggregates are running on....
My ''outdoor'' enterprise XG's run with fiber to them and then if there's a need i will interconnect them and let stp do its thing for redudancy

If you want to spam multiple racks of servers without a massive bundle in between, you will create a LAG.

I added it all over the place in the past few months, it works very well. You can have up to 8 connections of the same type in a LAG, so if you have a non-pro POE switch, you can get that up to 8Gbit/sec this way at the cost of using a large number of uplinks. Works perfectly.

I’m just setting up a massive Ubiquiti roll out of gear replacing 15 year old HP fiber switches. Dream machine special edition, 8 port agg switch so far 24 layer 3 switches , 40 waps, 20 antennas and 18 stadium antennas , 20 rps . In a house …… just a small project also 2 starlite dishes one commerciall one. And more to come . Acess controls and cameras

Yet another amazing video. I haven’t done that much routing/switching in decades and have been learning by your videos. Just want to say thank you as I’m a newbie at setting up my biz UniFi network (24POE + UDM Pro SE). I’m happy to report it’s up and running.

As soon as I get my second USW Enterprise 24 PoE switch, I'm going to hook it up to the second 10 GB LAN port on my UDM SE. I guess I will need an aggregation switch if I ever want to hook up both Enterprise switches with backup LAN ports. That way if one LAN port on either switch goes down, it would automatically switch to the other LAN port. Looks like those two purchases will be next year. Once I do that then I can use both 10GB LAN ports on the UDM SE and have them go the the aggregation switch. I would also move the 10 GB port from my UNVR Pro to the aggregation switch as well. Of course, this will require me to rearrange all of my network gear in my rack. Oh joy, joy. What a wonderful rabbit hole I have fallen into. Now to decide which aggregation switch to get!
You are costing me so much money. LOL

  • @randleqgod

i am EXTREMELY happy that ubiquiti finally decided to make the second SFP+ port available on the UDM PRO!!!
now i have 1Gbps WAN and 10Gbps uplink to my server and 10Gbps uplink to my PoE Switch!
next addition to my ubiquiti family is definately the aggregation swtich!
Unfortunately only the 8 port Aggregation switch is available in my country!
I am using a Dell SFP+ DAC into the UDM then a Intel X520 dual port SFP+ server adapter in my Dell Server… all working 100%

Nice information on setting up a LAG on your Ubiquiti switches. As a tip could I also suggest for anyone doing this, have another port configured on each switch as an 'All' port so that if something goes pear shaped with setting up the lag you can just patch into those ports on each end of the link and regain access to configure the downstream switch from your controller again. This might save you some heartache. In fact if you have enough patches between switches you can plug them in before you make the change and RSTP will block the ports but still provides a great backup if the lag fails to establish. It's a shame that the ports have to be sequential as this limits mixing media types easily and limits the use so plan out your topology before making changes.

You’re right: do we need this, no; do I want it, yes. Have a similar setup but then 50 to the Synology from the aggregation switch. Also 50 to de enterprise xg. 20 from the aggregation switch to the other switches.

Keep in mind that per packet, you’re still only ever going over one of the 10G links. It’s simply an alogo load balancing the packets XOR based on SRC/DST MAC/IP.

I have LACP set up on a pair of Aruba switches but recently I moved on to unify usw-pro 48 poe ones. Aggregate term on unify terminology is equal to LASP mode only? Because in Aruba you could choose from different modes. Also don t they support SSTP only RSTP? In unify universe is there a relation between LACP and RSTP meaning if you set up the aggregation you need to enable RSTP as well (preventing loops etc)?

When I attempted to aggregate the port for my NAS on the switch, I first selected port 15, the aggreagte operation, and wanted to select port 14, but port 14 was not available. However, when I selected port 14, the aggreagte operation, port 15 was available in the list to aggregate. It appears to me that Unifi Network will only allow port aggregatyion is one selectes the lower numbered port first.

It's too bad the copper wan port on the UDMs isn't multigig. I had to use one 10gig sfp+ with multigig copper to my modem and the other to the Pro24POE. Might be nice to have that extra link although it's probably not that big a deal.
