I did not have that kind of cousin, but in the late 70s I was a bit to young for D&D (I was born in 75... ;) ) I have this little book too and it is awsome for its price. I prefer the original Whitebox (plus Greyhawk) though, even if it is much less intuitive. I made myself my own "White Box" last month by printing the PDFs from Drivethru and putting it into an A5 box I got from our local gaming store. I put the three booklets, Greyhawk, Blackmoor, Eldritch Wizardry into it. I did the same for BX and a red box ;)
This was a fun video. Thanks for sharing, I love hearing the first wave of players talking about the game as it existed. I'm actually using these exact rules for a recovery group I run. What's a more sober activity than kicking down doors and slaying monsters?
This is a quick video about how I discovered Dungeons and Dragons, my original white box edition and the Whitebox rpg.

I love this book. Its cheap, the artwork is amazing and its dead simple to teach to kids. My daughter and her cousins love it.
I think we had the same cousin!😂👍 My older cousin got me into D&D back in 79/80, too. White Box really does nail the spirit of the old game.
There are some minor differences between OD&D and Whitebox but it is pretty close. It also clears things up nicely.
Amen!
Thanks for the post awesome stuff love old school D&D RPG games 😀😀

Your cousin seems like a very cool guy.
Pretty cool that your whole family played.
all right I want to know where you got the copies of the 0 editions.
The audio seemed a bit out of sync with the picture.
Have you tried White Hack?
