I bought the Triaz after seeing a forum post yesterday (I missed the coupon on here but even at full price its a steal). It totally kills XO (and I am a long time XLN user). Really well done.
Go To plugins for Drums is usually a compressor. Lately I have been using SHADE with a Boom Bap setting which I really like.

I have an instance of Newfangled Saturate at the end of the chain on pretty much every drum bus. At a bare minimum, it's shaving off the peaks of transients to give compressors down the line a little breathing room, but sometimes I just crank it up for super dirty beats.

I'm using the Presonus FAT Channel plugin usually with an EQ and a Comp, The Arturia FET 76 for real punchy drums or UHE Presswerk's "Kiss for good luck" preset for more clarity and presence.
Btw: 'Triaz' is absolutely fantastic and probably already my favourite drum plugin. Pure fun to work with!

Two essential processes define my approach: firstly, a parallel hyper-compressed and reverberated setup, akin to a room effect with Valhalla, enhanced by an Analog Obsession FET compressor. Secondly, the use of parallel compression for the kit and bass to meld the rhythm section together, employing an LA2A (alternating between Analog Obsession and IK Multimedia).
Excellent.
I use nearly every time a compressor (1176) and a preamp Emulation (610).
But well I did it easy. I am using the UA 476 Interface with those built in and them I record my Drumset direct in.

1. While recording vocals, is a compressor used.
2. What Vocal plugin chain do you use.
3. How do you get crisp and airy sounding vocals.
4. Should vocals be recorded in mono or stereo.
I observed that you have a lot of physical audio gear on your desk. Are those better than plugins.
My got to drum bus plugin is Saturn 2 by Fabfilter!!
Great video as always, Sanjay. Triaz look like XO meets Break Tweaker. Now if only I could trade both of those in for Triaz. 🙂 As for FX, I often use Cymatics Diablo on kick and snare, and run all drum channels through a drum bus preset (compression and EQ) that I have set up.

I mostly use the UAD API 2500 on my drum bus, and the KNOCK Plugin by DECAP...

I usually have a compressor and saturation on my drum bus that being Cymarics Origin, Izotope Trash or Heatwave
The go to plugins i use for Drums is usually compressors.
For the past few month, I abuse the basic clipper coming with studio one on drum and probably everything 😅

Will check out the demo, but 2 questions about Triaz from your brief review. Can you trigger patterns via midi so that you can use 2 or more in a song? Does it support a multi-out midi configuration? Thanks as usual for bringing these tools to your audience.
You're very welcome. I was writing a long answer, but honestly, the best option is to try the free demo. You can test it to your hearts content and decide if its right for you before purchasing.

Yes, Triaz has 12 pattern banks in its Sequencer, and each can have a unique pattern. You can trigger each of these banks with different MIDI keys (which you can set to whichever keys you like). You can also of course Host Sync it to your DAW.
And yes, it has a full dedicated mappings page which can be opened from the options / wrench menu where you can route any drum to any MIDI channel, and an advanced multi out audio system where you can to the same with audio, including routing even the FX to different audio outs etc. Plus of course MIDI / Audio export (Stems and full mixes). I drive a Suzuki Vitara everyday but doubt the Omnichord can get 15.4km/l fuel economy. In fairness, my car can't annoy the neighbours with lofi pissy-chords. $0.02 (and happy belated new year to your and yours Sanjay).

Hah! Xo just released an expansion pack out of the blue - first in 2 years - and they want $40 for it. That's 1/2 what I paid for Triaz. i said no. Might buy it for $20 some day, though. Cheers.

Triaz's lacking sample import system is definitely a dealbreaker...
Shame Triaz is a miss for me- you say its a small thing but the main selling point for XO for me was the scanning and sample mapping, taking all the hassle out of importing. Sorry miss from me on that one.
We'll be adding sample linking i/ scanning in the future. We prioritized the more important / creative parts of drum production for V1 that most plugins seem to miss (intuitive layering, assignable parameter sequencing / incredible library of sounds etc. But we'll be polishing this over the months to come and have lots of plans 👍 Check some of the presets from Triaz here, 100% from the plugin (nothing external used), including all mastering, FX and and melodic content - ua-cam.com/video/JzQNof6948k/v-deo.html

GarageBand is limited when it comes to sample editing and sequencing drums, triaz I've never tried but at least you'd have sequencing, there's one that does both and can be had for cheap on sale called Slicer, it'll get you by, otherwise if you like linear arranger Logic might be a better option or FL producer series artist will be too limited, for non linear arrangements..if times are really hard zen beats on a cellphone then transfer to computer could be dope, just a suggestion

The whole XO thing is it searches for your drum samples, TRIAZ is WAY overpriced. Better off with TAL-Drum or the stock DAW sampler IMO
Absolutely. I don't see how something can give XO a run for its money when it goes nowhere near XOs standout feature.
Another way to add a little something extra to your percussion elements is load an instance of TAL Drum in, say Ableton Live’s Sampler and configure it to The Reaktor ensemble Spiral. There is a tutorial on this buried within UA-cam, the person who uploaded it, no longer does Reaktor tutorials (sadly)

Tal Drum doesn't have a sequencer and pretty much no FX. It's just a knock off of Battery. XO's Sequencer is super basic. Triaz is way more complete. Layering, sound sculpting and sequencing. It's probably the best drum VST out there.
Please feel free to try the demo and I am convinced you'd have a different stance. They are different plugins though for sure. XO is primarily a drum sample sorting system, with limited drum features. Triaz is much more the opposite in that regard, having (in our opinion) the best collection of drums every recorded for modern music (over 2 years of work and several hundred thousand $ spent just on the 15,000 samples included), powerful drum layering options with 36 slots, assignable parameter / modulation sequencing of any control, powerful per layer (36 drums) smart randomization system, extensive sound design controls per layer, lots of creative, high end DSP per channel, 2, reverbs, delay, Sp-1200 emulation modes, transient shapers, compressors, Lofi Effects, full poly-rhythmic sequencing, pitch / probability / humanization sequencing, very high quality mastering chain, mid/side EQs, save / load entire channels etc. To touch but just a few of the features. Plus, we have a bunch of updates planned for the future, tat will take all of this even further. I'd be humbly interested to see how far you could get creating this kind of content in other drum plugins without a lot of 3rd party plugins, sounds and multiple instances :)
Plus, you get all the 15,000 drum samples within Triaz totally unlocked as wav files too in the full version. No hiding / locking behind proprietary formats. We truly feel the asking price for Triaz is more than worth it just to access those sounds alone 😃
How about import midi into it
You can do this already but we can improve this in an update. For now you can right click the 'record' button in Triaz, choose 'start recording on note input' and then it the record button and record MIDI files directly into the plugin.
I use NI's Dirt on all things percussion.

@@SanjayC It's part of their lofi effect bundle. Dirt and Bite combined are good for my needs, since I primarily go for the 90's Boom Bap sound.

Synths synths and even more synths. Nothing beats MODO Drum, and there is a free version of it, but I will have look in to it.. Maybe it will make me have fun and creat a song or two. If its free and working then its interesting. And my drum FX is of course EQ and compressor, ocasionally on some drums I can add reverb, but there are many other ways to get reverb on drums than just adding a plugin so reverb on drums isnt so much in use as copressor and EQ that is working on al drums.
