This is a great beater, tool knife. I got mine for $25 off Amazon a while back. The saw comes in handy for roots in the ground. I've used this knife for tightening wire for braces on cattle fence, used it as a pry bar, used it for splitting wood, used it for starting screw holes in treated wood post, and throwing. I noticed I like to throw it from the handle better than the blade. I'll throw in like a baseball pitch with a lot of force behind it. It definitely gets some penetration.
Just got mine in today and I am very very satisfied with it knowing that this is a actual Glock product and not just something that has their name on it that was made a couple of years ago makes me feel very happy😊
Hands down one of the toughest and best designed blades for the money. I personally also like CS GI Tanto in this modest price range and although it is even cheaper, it is noticeably heavier than Glock 81 and just clunkier all around. Surprisingly, my Glock came shaving sharp and with a wicked tip. A lot do complain it comes dull from the factory, but this wasn’t my experience.
@@FortInTheWoods Great! I believe one can’t go wrong with either. I do prefer Glock 81 though. Mainly for the weight reduction and less intimidating open carry while hiking. The GI sheath is twice the width of Glock’s and makes it look like you are carrying a short sword in comparison. Could earn one a few looks on the trail. My wife hated, when I carried it 😆
Nice, i alternate between a 19 and a m&p shield 9 depending on the day. This knife has been paired with my 19 around the property many times. They get along well and are happy together haha
My favorite aspect about the knife is the near-legendary durability. This thing will outlast a Ka-Bar with similar performance. And it comes pretty much complete for far cheaper.
@@ivanyankov3152 the dimensions and intended usages between both blades are close enough to where they are comparable. The fact that a lot of the world issues Glock 78s as a fighting knife pretty much proves that point in real time. Having handled both, I like the look and feel of the ka-bar along with the metal pommel, buuuuuuuut durability is an issue in it, I can do things to the Glock I dare not with the Ka-bar, such as outdoor chores without worrying about it snapping, and still has the advantage of also being a nice and light fighting knife. They are even able to be thrown, which is a neat novelty.
My favorite knife of all time is the Morakniv Heavy Duty. $15-$20, best knife you can get for the price. Its more of a regular bushcrafting blade, which I prefer. I've had it for years, since i was like 11 probly. Still my go-to.
Did I tell you I love the new intro? It’s awesome!! That is a cool sheath! I like the saw backing also. Hmmmm I have a few boys here that may need something like that... thanks for sharing!
should try a review of the Portuguese army comandi M-48' its a great quality copy of the WW-98'k german werhmact beyonet only real difference is the Portuguese blade is shorter than the kraut knife and far more combat practical like a 6/5 inch piece of steel for good close up work
You can take the cap off the bottom fit a stick in the hole and knock a nail through the holes on either side and you have a speared weapon. Can use it to spear fish or to fight I prefer the version without the saw. You can still get them on eBay or order them from overseas
No way. I always wondered what those little holes were for haha, we've got a new video topic 🤣 Gotcha, I mainly prefer the saw version as it can be helpful with cutting small trees or making cuts on timber if you don't have anything else available
Hold up. Saying that you don't understand why people are confused to open the locking mechanism, but in the same time you use two hands to take the knife out of the sheath, and you own one of those for 10 years?🤔 There are two other ways to do that, with only one hand. BTW it's bayonet, that can be used as a knife, the "bottle opener" and the cap on the bottom of the handle are for attachment to the Austrian Steyr AUG army rifle. The steel used to make the Glock Feldmesser FM 78 and 81 is SAE 1095 carbon steel with a hardness of 55 HRC.
Great additional information thank you! Didn't know about it's use as a bayonet but figured given it's appearance and pommel cap. And two hand open was for demonstration. Usually use a thumb and can do it with a free hand.
I'd score it a 80 of 100. It can cut but can be improved. If you buy one you can get one of those small diamond sharpener rods and that would be enough. Can't go wrong buying one of these.
The glock knife has a half tang and the handle is thermo molded on. The last part of the handle is hollow so it can be a bayonet. Despite the half tang the knife can take enough abuse to considered "service ready".
Poor quality control on plastic knife sheath lock release. Nothing to understand since do not own one that is not easy to release. A flat blade screwdriver may be required or 2 hands. One to hold sheath the other to forcibly lift release.
1.) It's not under $30; 2.) its not the best field knife under anything. It just IS the best field knife. But the FM78 is not the FM81, the FM81 is the second best field knife there is.

Yes exactly! It's super tough and not expensive at all so it doesn't matter too much if it gets some wear on it.
Just got mine in today and I am very very satisfied with it knowing that this is a actual Glock product and not just something that has their name on it that was made a couple of years ago makes me feel very happy😊
It's a great tool, hope you get alot of years out of it.
As an Austrian: It tells you a lot about the Austrian Army that their Field Knive has a built in bottle opener.
Haha it is useful though
As an Austrian you probably should know that the "bottle opener" actually is to attach it to Steyr AUG military rifle cause it's a bayonet! 🙈
@@ivanyankov3152 Lighten up, Francis. He knows very well what the "bottle opener" is for. Humor, look it up.
One of the best knife I have ever had...one of the best Glock knife review video I have ever watched!
Thank you! Appreciate the comment! More videos on the way soon!

Also a great knife. A buddy of mine has one and he loves it. I'll probably do a review of that knife eventually as well.

My EDC is a Glock 19 time to get it a buddy for my ranch work

Awesome review straight to the point with no extra bs. Gonna follow. 👍
Thanks for the feedback and for the follow! Welcome!
I ordered this knife for my son. We have been looking everywhere for a knife for him. I hope he likes it. Oh and hi from across the creek. :)
Awesome! Come back and let me know how he likes it!
It's a good knife for sure.
@iPac9mm he loves it

Absolutely. Fantastic quality and durability especially for the price
is amazon the only place i can buy one?
@@freethinker3716 yes. 👍
Based on what you compare rifle bayonet with fighting knife? 🙄

Awesome video, thank you. I wasn't aware that Glock made knives!
Yup! Good company and a good knife
I have 3 I practice throwing with, they’re great
They make great throwing knives. Very durable.
I have one. I'd use it for self defense and as a weapon. I have a grey handle.
Haha who in the world disliked this video ... This was a good review!
A Ka-Bar fan.
After watching this I just went on Amazon and ordered one in green says it be here in like 2 days : )
Sweeeet
I have the same one. Beat the shit out of it. Won’t break. Enjoy!

Looks like a solid knife
It really is
@@FortInTheWoods I am definitely about to get one👍🇺🇸
You should. You won't regret it.
Thats not a bottle opener. Its to attache to a styer aug. The knife is actually a bayonet
It's multi purpose, Glock site says it is also for open bottles.
Does it come sharpened
And how well sharpened is it if it is
I'd score it a 80 of 100. It can cut but can be improved. If you buy one you can get one of those small diamond sharpener rods and that would be enough. Can't go wrong buying one of these.
They should make a bayonet version.
seems like a decent trash knife ( budget knife not worried about getting banged up)
You guys are smart!

The glock knife has a half tang and the handle is thermo molded on. The last part of the handle is hollow so it can be a bayonet. Despite the half tang the knife can take enough abuse to considered "service ready".
