Hi Josh. I'm also a 79' Vette owner. I've had mine now for 17 years! EVERYTHING on these cars require A LOT of Labor & Love! With the amount of years that I've had it, you can just imagine the countless hours of labor & money that I've poured in to her. Fortunately I have a very understanding wife who supports my craziness. Right now I've scheduled an other appointment with the Transmission guy because she keeps leaking after replacing all the tranny pump seals & tranny cover.... what can I say...I will admit there have been times when I just want to give in and sell it, but then I know I'm going to say the classic saying.... "I should've never sold her."... Anyway I just want to congratulate you on what you are doing and appreciate the effort you put in to creating these Videos... Great Job!

      Hi Joe!
Wow, thanks to people like you I have build strength, patience, and love for this cars… I have less than 1% experience on this and I pretty much learn on errors haha.
As mentioned previously, my wife is also very supportive so I guess we are lucky crazy guys haha.
Anyways thank you so much for this comment and recognizing and understanding the efforts and patience that goes into these videos and the car. It is important for us to keep these amazing cars alive, in a world set to become electric, we gotta consider ourselves lucky these classic beauties.

Wow 🤩 Awesome job. I can never to that on my vette. I have to call my mechanics 😅. Beautiful work you done and your vette sounds nice. I got a new carburetor for my vette. It’s the Holly street avenger, and it’s amazing. My next upgrade is to get new headers and exhaust system.

Nice choice of color. Goes with the red on the air cleaner. SB 350 valve cover leaks are very common. But fixable. Hopefully, you have. To check, with engine cool, run finger on bottom back of cover. The engine is tilted up. So the oil runs to the firewall. If dry, GREAT! If not, don’t be discouraged. Happens to the best of us. Suggestions are to clean both cover and head surfaces so you can eat off. Make sure cover holes are flat. Over torque will bulge them. Cause a leak. FELPRO is the way to go. Cork or rubber with metal insert are debatable. To solve mine, I watched a video from: “Scared Shiftless”. A company in California. I have FEL1603’s on mine. Extra thick. And yes, cork. Torque on the bolts will make the difference. Too tight, leak. Too loose, leak. Most people tighten way too much. There are torque specs. The value is very small. Last, when I do this, I replace the PCV. If it’s sticking, can increase case pressure. Cause covers to leak. 😊

Hey Michael, thank you so much for the comment, it was my first time trying it so its good to hear I did something right haha.
I will do what you are saying about testing oil leaks with engine cool.
And yes I was very careful to not over tight the bolts, I ordered a torque wrench and will be deliver today so I will double check. Good point on the cork vs rubber, I thought about using double cork but when I was removing the old one I was disappointed at how cork disintegrated, hence why rubber was my best option, I did mentioned that I was mot sure how old the cork was so that could be another reason behind it.
Really appreciate you taking the time to help me!

@@c3sgarage Anytime! I've had my '79 for over 40 years now. I've had it apart so many times, I should put it back together with Velcro :) Anyway, as mentioned, rubber vs cork is subjective. I've had good luck with both. Once I changed to aluminum heads, valve covers and high-volume oil pump (runs at 80psi), cork was the only way I could stop the leaks. But that's just me.
BTW, you do a great job in presenting information. I used to be an Instructor in a past life. Really nice work!!!

Don’t paint next to your car. That’s a good starting point. All the mist in the air settles eventually
